In this universe God has a great divine operation, which is to accomplish a glorious expression of Himself; the church is a corporate partnership with Christ, and we are Christ’s partners and His joint heirs in God’s corporation. Wow!
All this can be seen in Heb. 3:14, 1:9, and in other portions such as Rom. 8:17; Gal. 4:7; Eph. 3:6, and Titus 3:7. The church is a wonderful entity in God’s purpose, much different and far above than anything we can imagine or think.
In Hebrews we see a few of the aspects of the church, such as the church being the living composition of the many sons of God, a corporate partnership with Christ, the enlargement of Christ, the Sabbath rest, and the unshakable kingdom of God.
One of the most basic definitions of the church is that it is the Body of Christ, the living composition of the many sons of God – who are the many brothers of Christ, those brought forth in His resurrection.
We, the believers in Christ, are the many sons of God begotten by Him in the resurrection of Christ. We are the many brothers of Christ; He is the firstborn Son of God, and we are the many sons of God who are being conformed to the glorious image of Christ so that together, Christ and the church, we would express God in a corporate way gloriously.
Christ is divine and human, and we are human and divine; the church is an organism with two lives and two natures combined and mingled together.
The church is really a mysterious matter; it is not a physical building, neither is it merely a gathering of believers, but a matter of life – the divine life mingled with the uplifted, resurrected human life.
Because the church is a matter of the divine life and the resurrected human life, the church also has two natures – the human nature and the divine nature.
When we meet as the church, we need to realize that the church is both human and divine, and everything we do in the church or speak in the church should be in spirit, by the divine life, and in the uplifted humanity of Jesus wrought into us, by the cross.
It is utterly delightful to live the church life with all the sons of God under the heavenly ministry of Christ! Christ’s heavenly ministry produces the church and builds up the church today.
The Church is a Corporate Partnership with Christ – We are Christ’s Partners!
Because Christ loved righteousness and hated lawlessness, being one with God in everything He said and did and lived while on earth, God – His God – has anointed Him with the oil of exultant joy above His partners (Heb. 1:9).
God has a great operation in the universe, with the goal of accomplishing a glorious expression of Himself. In this great operation God has anointed Christ, His Son, to carry out everything and to be everything for God’s corporate expression in glory.
The church is composed of the many brothers of the firstborn Son of God in resurrection (Heb. 2:12); therefore, the church is a corporate partnership with Christ.
We need to have an enlarged view to realize that in this universe God has an operation to accomplish a glorious expression of Himself, the Son of God was appointed and anointed to carry out this operation by accomplishing God’s plan, and we as believers in Christ are His partners in this divine incorporation to carry out this operation.
Christ as God’s Heir was appointed by God, and He has also been anointed; this anointing confirms His appointment. We have been firmly attached to Christ and anointed with Him by God (2 Cor. 1:21).
We are Christ’s partners, anointed with Him and sharing in His anointing. This is the full gospel: we are partners with Christ, sharing in His anointing to carry out God’s divine operation in the universe, the corporate expression of Himself.
We are the holy brothers of Christ, the anointed ones with Him, to be one with Him in the divine operation in the universe, part of the divine corporation, to accomplish God’s purpose and satisfy His heart’s desire.
We have the standing, the qualifications, the reality, the life, the nature, the source, and all that we need to be the holy brothers of Christ and the partners of Christ in God’s operation.
What a full gospel, what an honor, and what a privilege! God has appointed Christ and anointed Him to carry out His divine operation, His economy, and we have also been anointed with Him to carry out God’s operation in the universe.
What a marvelous view of the church! We have become partners with Christ, if indeed we hold fast the beginning of the assurance firm to the end (Heb. 3:14).
We are both partners and partakers – we share in the heavenly calling, the Holy Spirit, and the divine discipline.
We are partakers of heavenly, holy, and spiritual things, sharing in the heavenly calling, the Holy Spirit, and the spiritual discipline.
We are partners of Christ, sharing with Him the spiritual anointing (Heb. 1:9), as the members share the Spirit with the Head, and sharing with Him the heavenly rest, as Caleb shared with Joshua the rest of the good land (Num. 14:30). Praise the Lord!
Thank You Lord for anointing us with Christ to be His partners in the divine operation to accomplish the glorious expression of God in the universe. Lord, uplift and broaden our view of the church to realize that we are the holy brothers of Christ, partners with Christ in God’s divine operation to be God’s glorious expression on the earth! Praise the Lord, we share with Christ in the heavenly calling, the divine nature, the Holy Spirit, and the spiritual anointing so that we may enter into God’s glorious expression! Hallelujah!
Christ is God’s Appointed Heir, and we are His Joint Heirs Inheriting all things with Him
The goal of God’s operation in the universe is to accomplish a glorious expression of Himself (Heb. 2:10; John 17:1, 5, 22, 24; Rev. 21:10-11).
Christ, the firstborn Son of God, is God’s appointed Heir, and we, the many sons of God, have been saved to be His joint heirs, inheriting not only salvation but also all things with Him (see Heb. 1:14).
We are not only children of God, but also heirs of God, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him (Rom. 8:17). Praise the Lord, we are no longer slaves but sons of God, even heirs of God through Christ (Gal. 4:7)!
We were once enemies of God but now we are fellow heirs and fellow members of the Body and fellow partakers of the promise through the gospel (Eph. 3:6); we have been justified by His grace that we might become heirs according to the hope of the eternal life (Titus 3:7).
Christ is the appointed Heir of God, and we have been saved to be joint-heirs with Christ; we are partners in the heavenly corporation of “Christ and the church”, and millions of angels are ministering to us. We inherit not only salvation but all things with Him.
What a great salvation we have! Christ is saving us to the uttermost (Heb. 2:3) – He’s saving us to the extent that He brings us into partnership with Him to be joint-heirs with Christ of all that God has and is!
Since Christ as the firstborn Son of God is God’s appointed Heir, and we as the many sons of God are His joint-heirs, we are His partners; we share the same interests in the divine corporation.
In the human realm, if you’re a partner with a billionaire, you share in all his riches – whatever he has is yours; in the spiritual realm, we are not “hired” into the divine corporation but born as partners, and we share in all that Christ is and has.
All believers in Christ work for the divine corporation called, “Christ and the church”, and each believer is a partner in this corporation, a joint-heir with Christ.
Wow! Isn’t our God amazing? He decided, in His foresight, that Christ as His unique Heir needs a group of joint-heirs to partake of and enjoy all of God’s riches; therefore, He sent Christ to open the way for millions of human beings to enter into partnership with Christ and be joint-heirs with Him.
God wants Christ with His joint-heirs to enter into the good land of the glorious expression of the Divine being; in His view, the more joint-heirs there are, the more glory there is.
In the human realm, the more heirs a rich person has, the less riches they receive; but in the divine realm, the more sons of God has to be joint-heirs with Christ, the more glory He gets and the more riches they enjoy. Hallelujah!
Thank You God for making us joint-heirs with Christ in the divine corporation of “Christ and the church”. Hallelujah, now we are partners with Christ, joint-heirs with Him to enjoy and partake of all God’s riches so that we may enter into His glorious expression together! Lord, bring us to full sonship – bring us into the full enjoyment and participation of all God’s riches so that we may corporately express Him in a glorious way! Keep us enjoy all Your riches until we become Your fulness, Your corporate expression in glory!
