in the divine economy Christ is the Head over all things and the center of all things!

Just as we saw yesterday, God wants only Christ – He wants Him to be reproduced and lived out in many believers as His corporate expression! Another aspect of Christ being everything to God in His economy and to us in a practical way is Christ being the Head over all things and Christ being the center of all things!

In the divine economy, Christ is the Head and center of all things. God has ordained that Christ, the second of the divine Trinity, would be the Head over all things and the center of all things! Eph. 1:22 says,

And He subjected all things under His feet and gave Him to be Head over all things to the church.

After passing through the process of incarnation, perfect human living, all-inclusive death, and resurrection, in His ascension Christ was given by God to sit at His right hand – God made Christ Head over all things!

God gave Christ a gift – the headship over all things in the universe! Christ was made Head over all things TO the church – this little word “to” signifies the identification and oneness of the church with Christ. We, the church as the Body of Christ, are one with Christ as the Head! Even more, Eph. 1:10 says,

unto the economy of the fullness of the times, to head up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens and the things on the earth, in Him.

God desires to head up all things in Christ – the things in the heavens, the things on the earth, everything – in Christ! And He will accomplish it at the fullness of the times! Today we as the Body of Christ are taking the lead to be headed up in Christ, to take Him as our head.

In so many things in our life we are still in a state of collapse, and in so many aspects, even in our whole being, we are fallen. We need to be headed up in Christ! Christ here is not just the Head but also the center – He is the Head by being the center of all things!

Just like a hub “heads up” all the spokes and the rim by being the center of the wheel, so Christ is the Center of us all and heads us up in Him! We all subsist in Him, draw our life from Him, and take Him as our life and person! I really enjoyed this particular paragraph taken from “The Heavenly Vision” (by Witness Lee) – about Christ as the Center and the Head of all things:

To have the vision of Christ is to see that Christ is the embodiment of the Triune God and the center of all things related to God. Christ is the center of God’s plan, of God’s eternal intention. Christ is also the center of God’s work, God’s creation, and God’s redemption. Christ is the center of all that God has planned to do. Christ must have the preeminence in everything; He must have the first place in all things. We need to apply this Christ to our life, ministry, and church life. Christ must be the essence, the substance, of our Christian walk and the reality of our work, service, and ministry. Our ministry should be a ministry of Christ, full of Christ. Furthermore, Christ must be the content and expression of the church life. The church should be an expression of nothing other than the all-inclusive Christ. We all need such a vision of Christ.

Amen, Lord, grant us such a vision of this Christ! Make Christ our Head and our Center! In all things, Lord, have the first place! Head us up more and more every day! In our personal life, be the center! In our church life, be our Head! In our family life, work life, school life – be the Head and the center! Make us those governed by such a vision of Christ!
