We have the privilege to enjoy God as our life!(sharing from the college age conference)

This year I had a privilege of going to Wales for the College Age Conference. It was a short but a very enjoyable time! This time we were focused on gospel of John – Life and Building as revealed in the Gospel of John. What really touched me was that many times we may think that we’re not hungry for the Lord. I’m pretty sure that each one of us at least once had this kind of experience when you think you can solve your problems by yourself and you don’t need anyone else to help you. But actually the Lord by giving us different situations to go through because He wants to show us that He cares for us and – no matter what happens – He wants to gain our hearts more and more. All we have to do is to come to our Father whether we’re happy or not and praise Him and enjoy Him! It’s so simple – it is what He desires! He wants us to realize that we are nothing without Him, and life without God is a waste! But praise the Lord that He chose us! We have the privilege to enjoy God! God is flowing out to dispense Himself with His divine life as the life element to meet the need of His elect and to be their pleasure and satisfaction.

Another matter I enjoyed was that in the church life the first thing we need is the Lord’s presence. Although the central thought of this gospel is life and building, when we take the Lord as our life, the Lord as the Spirit will build us together as ONE in the Triune God. [this is sister Agnes' sharing from the Spring 2011 College Age conference in Wales]

Lord Jesus give me the desire to drink of You to quench my thirst again and again. You are the “Bread of life, so rich and free” that satisfies my hunger every day. For my poverty, You are my “untold wealth” that never fails! Oh, what a Redeemer You are! Gain my heart at this age, in my stage, and in all my circumstances.

The true freedom is in our heart! Don’t study God: enjoy Him!(college age conference sharing)

I enjoyed reading the whole gospel of John in the hills of Wales, where we entered into “life and building in the Gospel of John“. If we want to know life, we need to come to the Bible. In fact, the first case in the gospel of John tells us life’s principle which is to change death into life. When the Lord came to Cana of Galilee, in the wedding the wine ran out. This is a picture of human life – which has pleasure and satisfaction to some extent, but it runs out eventually. And the Lord WAITS until the wine runs out, and then He gives us the better wine.

The true freedom is in our heart.” “The truth will set you free.” “And if the Son sets you free, you are free indeed.” The brother shared and we all echoed. Amen, Lord, we want to gain You more, we want to know You and love You more each day! Yes, we have some wine in this world but since we have tasted You, we would want the better wine, and live a life with no regret. [this is sister Christy's sharing of her top enjoyment from the recent Spring 2011 College Age Conference in Wales]

In the Wales conference I enjoyed that one brother shared – don’t be afraid to enjoy one drop from Lord, even one drop will multiply! This conference is the biggest ever for me – I have never seen such a lot of people, and the messages were a little hard for me to understand…. I was a bit upset first because I couldn’t understand, but the brother encouraged me, “Just enjoy the Lord, don’t study the Lord – enjoy Him and you will definitely gain something precious, you will grow and increase your enjoyment!”

I also enjoy this quote from brother Steve: “The spirit is in the soul, the soul is in the body, the body is in time“, which I think is quite right – we don’t have too much time, so we should redeem our time, use our time wisely to get ourselves ready, and prepare well for the Lord’s second coming!!! Now I can proudly say to others,

I have met Lord Jesus, I talk to Him everyday, I am God-man in a wonderful new country – the New Jerusalem, which is the best!

Thank you, Lord for the church, for Your coming, for the mingled spirit, and for everything! Amen [sharing from the recent College Age conference from brother LJ]

Don’t let your pride hinder you from being saved daily!(college age conference sharing)

What is life? John 14:6a says, Jesus said to him, I am the way and the reality and the life. Life is the source which causes us to realise Christ. This realisation causes us to be in the reality which puts us on the way!

What does this life do for us? John 4:14 says, But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall by no means thirst forever; but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water gushing up into eternal life.

Is there ever a shortness of supply to how much life we can have? John 10:10b says, I have come that they may have life and may have it (life) abundantlyAbundantly – implying that there is no limit. The only limit to our receiving this life is our own capacity. We can pray for a larger capacity. If our capacity is “pea-size”, that is all we will ever be able to receive. Therefore, we must be open to whatever capacity we have. You can never have too much of this life! Lord, I want a capacity that spans further than the universe!

John 5:21 For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom He wills.

After drinking a sports drink, in order to get the full benefit of it, one needs to exercise. However, if one hopes to get the full benefit, yet decides to sit down for the entire day, he cannot receive the full benefit. Similarly, when we take the Lord in the morning, there is a need to exercise and live by Him throughout the day. The full benefit of our morning eating of Christ can only come into play if we make it happen.

There is only one sin that can hinder men from being saved (receiving this divine life) – pride. Keep in mind that our situation is already condemned: we are in the same situation as the people on the Titanic! The boat is going to crash at any moment so everyone jumps into the water. They’re staying afloat and swimming but the situation is condemned already (this refers to our world situation). The people may think they’re fine by just swimming in the water. However, one can only swim for so long. If a Saviour comes along and throws out life jackets, the people can be saved. But if the sinking /condemned people reject the Saviour’s help, they cannot blame the Saviour. It’s merely their own pride. It is the same today – the world is a let down and is sinking, so if the Lord is trying to help us/save us we should accept it. Our pride shouldn’t cause us to reject Him. Furthermore, if we don’t accept His help and start dying (spiritually and possibly even physically) then we cannot blame anyone but ourselves. Thus, the faster we turn to Him, accept His help, the quicker we can be saved and the more alive we can be.

This saving is also experiential in our daily life. We need the daily saving from the world. As time passes on, we get busier. It seems as if time is whizzing by and there are so many more things to distract me now than it was 10 years ago. Sometimes, I may even forget about the Lord for days… but praise the Lord for His faithfulness! He is faithful to remove our idols and bring our eyes back to His face! We can return back to Him at anytime and the sooner the better – we want to be ready for His coming! the spirit is in the soul, the soul in the body, and the body is in time(college age conference sharing)

Praise the Lord for this past College Age Conference – it really refreshed my love and my consecration towards the Lord Jesus! It reminded me that I am such a thirsty sinner just like the Samaritan woman when she came to draw water from the well (John 4). We keep on drinking the worldly water which can be our education, our career, our desired life, etc – and all these cannot satisfy us! Why? Because we are created as a vessel which was meant to contain God! He is The Only Living Water that can satisfy us! How we take Christ as our living water? Like the Samaritan Woman, we should repent and confess our sin to the Lord, contact God the Spirit with our spirit, and believe & receive Him – then, we can take Him as our Living Water which will become in us a spring of water gushing up into eternal life! After the Samaritan woman received the Lord as the living water, she was satisfied and she “left her waterpot”, “went” away into the city, and started to PREACH the GOSPEL!

Sometimes the Lord allows things to happen to us through the environment around us. We see that in the case of Lazarus, even though the Lord was told that Lazarus is sick, instead of going straight away to heal him immediately, He remained in the place where He was for two more days. In this time, He allowed Lazarus to be sick and even to die! His going to heal Lazarus was not according to man’s opinion but according to the will of the Father. His going was to reveal Himself as the resurrection life. If we find ourselves in a similar situation, our response should be “AMEN” to the Lord’s arrangement. We need to drop our human concept and submit ourselves to the Lord – and then we can experience His resurrection life.

Remember: The Spirit in the Soul, Soul in the Body, Body is in Time. We are constrained by time. We just have maybe 80 years or more to live. Do you still want to pursue something that will make you thirsty again and again? Or would you take the opportunity to pour out your most valuable flask of alabaster (your career, education) on the Lord? We don’t have much time – so let us redeem our time, spend time with the Lord, give our best we have right now – our youth and our days – to Him, to be constituted by Him, to be transformed by Him into the living stone, and to become a useful buildable material for His building! did you know that Christ is lovable? Just love Him!(college age conference sharing)

Praise the Lord for the College Age Conference in Wales! I really treasure this time every year. It is always an enjoyable weekend to be in the countryside (away from all the technology and the negative aspects that turn us away from Christ) with the saints, just to appreciate and love only Christ! There is a excerpt from the Life-study of John which touched me very much:

In the Whole Gospel of John there are only two requirements: the first is to believe in Him, and the second is to love Him. To believe in Him is to receive Him, and to love Him is to enjoy Him. We all have to believe in Him. This means that we all have received Him. But the problem today is whether or not we love Him. Although you have received the Lord Jesus and He is now within you, you may not love Him. We need to be a lover of the Lord Jesus all day long. This is why the most significant aspect of the miniature of the church life in chapter twelve is the love that poured the ointment upon the Lord. We all must love Him. His presence is always related to our love toward Him. The more we love Him, the more we enjoy His presence. What is presence? It is simply the enjoyment of Himself. As long as we have His presence, we enjoy Him. The more we love Him, the more we shall have His presence. The more we have His presence, the more we shall enjoy all that He is to us. We need only to love Him. Knowing means nothing; only loving counts. How we all need to love Him! The Lord’s recovery is a recovery of loving the Lord Jesus. Chapter 6, Life Study of John

Oh we need to BELIEVE and LOVE the Lord Jesus! If we believe and love Him, then the more we can grow in Him. We need to open our hearts to believe in Him. Then we need to love the Lord Jesus! Did you know that Christ is lovable? Mary poured out her love offering to the Lord! We need to do the same! [this is sister Kirsty's sharing of her top enjoyment from the recent Spring 2011 College Age Conference in Wales]

At the end of the day, we are all Crazy Lovers of Jesus!

all the cases in John represent us: we need Christ!(college age conference sharing)

The recent students conference in Wales overall revived my spirit to a great extent. The Gospel of John starts making sense for me. In a way, we are all the nine cases recorded in John: we are moral, immoral, dying, impotent, thirsty, hungry, bondaged in sin, blind in religion, and ultimately we are dead. I am extremely similar to Nicodemus – this is why I shared something after the message. The fact that John put him as the first case illustrates the importance of regeneration. Sometimes we think we are really good people. However the serpertine nature lurks in us (John 3:14-18). You may be sparklingly loving externally but probably – like in my case – situations will show you that humanity is always “half shadow and half light”. Human beings are intertwined entities of “the evil ghost” and “the shiny light”.

Therefore we are all impotent. What we need is not a religion – not even something like Christianity to revive us! This is a serious issue because seeking the Scripture without Christ is a religion! This is what Jesus said to the religious people, “You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life, yet you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life” (John 5:39-40). This alarms me greatly because I have been on the verge of giving up Christianity for some time. Why? It is mainly because I started losing sight of Christ in my routine church practise. It is so dry inside. I remember one brother shared in his prophesying that he was brought up in a church life but actually it was not until he touched the Lord personally that he started seeing the truth again. We all need to guard ourselves against religion – even amongst ourselves. We are being recovered by the Lord – Without Him, we cannot do anything!

The message which mentioned the “dead people walking” also striked me deeply. Without God dwelling inside, our spirits are dead. Physically, we are still walking. This is the reason why in London, the busy centre of the UK, you see so many people occupy themselves with different things. When you see the throngs of people, you actually see “dead people walking”. The more tattoos a person gets, the more thirsty he is. Don’t be scared of people like this – they are thirsty. What they really need is Christ Jesus!

There are still a great many things I did not yet digest from what I enjoyed in the conference, but what I want to share is that a Christian life is a truly shining life that my heart desires! When we are close to the Lord and open our hearts to Him, He shall speak to us using the “Rhema” words. When we are abiding in Him and His words, He becomes a Real Person, a gentle Shepherd, a faithful and almighty Brother, who lives in us, makes home in our hearts and strengthens us each single moment.

I really have enjoyed this hymn. It is my favourite:

Christ May Make His Home My Heart

Father God, forgive me if I groan,
For so long I’ve been on a plateau
Now with tears, I bow my knees and pray
By your Spirit make my spirit strong today.

I myself was losing heart each day;
Then the Lord brought some saints my own way;
I alone could not Thee apprehend
But with all the saints You now my joy have been

All these years I’ve come the church to know,
Yet O Lord, there’re thingsI can’t let go;
Yet within me there is an “Amen”;
O now joy I never knew in me’s flowing.

Yes, inside of us, there is always an”Amen”. Amen [sharing by sister Chen C. from her top enjoyment in the recent Spring 2011 College Age Conference in Wales]

the more we love the Lord, the more we enjoy His presence(college age conference sharing)

I thank the Lord for bringing me to the Spring 2011 College Age Conference in UK. This is my first time attending this conference and I enjoyed it very much. The messages released were on the book, Gospel of John, and they brought me into a deeper appreciation of my dear Lord Jesus with His perfect humanity. He is altogether lovely! Moreover, I am enlightened to see that “the Lord’s recovery is a recovery of loving the Lord Jesus!” (Life-Study of John, Msg.6).

I would like to begin my sharing with the lyrics from a hymn:

Lord Jesus, You’re lovely. / You’re more to be desired, / Than any earthly pleasure. / Lord Jesus, Your beauty / Does far exceed all others. / You’re comely and You’re tender. / You’re radiant and You’re fair. / … May all my days be Yours, Lord, / My heart be given to love You, / To treasure and to serve You / By Your sufficient grace.

He is a person full of affection – demonstrated by giving life to the needy ones and taking care of His disciples. He fed the hungry, quenched the thirsty, and shepherd the blind etc. For His disciples, He humbled Himself and washed their feet (John ch. 13), and He shepherded the disciples even when they went out fishing after His resurrection, giving them “abundance of fish” (John 21:6)! He loves His people so much and He wants us to just love Him back. In the Gospel of John, chapter 21, He asked Peter three times: “Do you love Me?How we need to love Him!

The more we love Him, the more we enjoy His presence” (Life-Study of John, Msg.6). In the past, I told the Lord everyday: “Oh, Lord, I love You!” However, this is only a way of outward speaking with some degrees of inward emotion with little reality. The brother shared in the conference that the Lord’s word and loving the Lord goes together, which means, if we love Him – we need to read His word every day! What a revelation – this was such an enlightening to me! Also, we need to spend time with the Lord in His Word. An example in the Gospel of John is Mary. She, knowing that the Lord is going to die, poured out her most precious anointment upon the Lord out of love towards Him. The more we spend time in His Word, the more we will love Him.

This is true in my experience at this conference. I had the clear feeling that the Lord is extremely lovely through getting into His word as quoted in the Gospel of John! What I want to share is that our love toward the Lord needs us to take time to behold Him! Where is the Lord today? John 1:1 says that “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Christ today is in His Word, and the way to contact Him is to come to His Word through the exercise of our spirit! How we need to love Him by eating His words, having a living contact with Him, so that we may enjoy His presence with us!
