The Lord Jesus is Emmanuel, God with us, even the Spirit with our spirit, so real and available!

This morning I was enjoying some verses that speak about the Lord being Emmanuel, God with us(from the Crystallization-study of Isaiah (1), the message on The Sign of Christ’s Incarnation and the Unveiling of Christ as the Wonderful One. In Matthew 1:23 we read:

“Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel” (which is translated, God with us).

The Lord Jesus’ name is called by men – Emmanuel! He is God with us! Also, in Matthew 28:20 the Lord says,

Behold, I am with you all the days until the consummation of the age.

The Lord promises here that He will be with us in His resurrection with all authority all the days until the consummation of the age(that is, until the end of this age). When the Lord Jesus came into us at the time of our regeneration, He as the Spirit mingled Himself with our spirit – He is now the wonderful Spirit in us. He is not just among us – Christ as the Spirit is in our spirit! 2 Timothy 4:22 says,

The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you.

Whenever we call on the name of the Lord, we have the clear sense that He is with us – He is Emmanuel, God with us. The more we experience the Lord Jesus, the more we have the feeling that God is with us.

Actually, included in the name of the Lord, as we call on Him – O Lord Jesus! – is everything: God is there, and so is Jehovah, the Savior, salvation, and God with us! God is not somewhere far away from us: He is with us and He is even in us!

Everything God is and has is so real and available to us as Emmanuel – God as the Spirit with our spirit! We can enjoy Him as our Savior, our Redeemer, our Life-giver, and as the all-inclusive indwelling Spirit!

Even more, this Emmanuel – God with us – is the Spirit as the reality of Christ as the Shoot of Jehovah (in His divinity) and the Fruit of the earth (in His humanity). He is God and man, the infinite God with all His rich attributes and the perfect man expressing the divine God through His aromatic virtues. Such a One is now the life-giving Spirit with our spirit (1 Cor. 15:45).

We can enjoy Him and have His presence, even be filled with His riches, by simply calling on His rich name:

O, Lord Jesus! When we call on the name of the Lord, we have God with us – the reality of which is in our spirit! Amen, Lord, more experiencing of You today as the Spirit with our spirit! More calling on Your name to know You as the Emmanuel, God with us!
