we need to take Christ as our Head in order for the church as the house of God to be the kingdom of God

we need to take Christ as our Head in order for the church as the house of God to be the kingdom of GodThis morning I realized that there is so much more to Christ than we ever imagined! Our Christ is so much! He came so that we may have life, and may have it abundantly (John 10:10) – so now Christ is our life (Col. 3:4). When we enjoy Christ as our life, we as the church of the living God become the house of God and even the kingdom of God (1 Tim. 3:15).

As the house of God, we express God – just like a house, a family, expresses the nature / culture / temper of that family. But our Christ wants to be to us even more – He wants to be the Head, the Lord. We as the church and as the members of the Body of Christ need to take Christ as our Head.

Christ is the Head, and we are the many members of the Body. When we take Christ as the head, we are not only the house of God, but we become the city of God. Christ as the Head is the Lord, and we are the kingdom of God – the city of God, with walls that keep all undesired things and people outside and at the same time protect the interests of God inside.

When we realize that Christ is not only our life but also our Head, then Christ will have not just the church as the house of God but even more – an enlargement, a strengthening: the church as the city! The house is mainly related to taking Christ as our life, and the city to taking Christ as the Head.

In our Christian life and in our church life we need to come to the Lord not only as our life, but also as the Head, as the Lord.

This is something we all need to realize – when we call on the name of the Lord Jesus – O, Lord Jesus! – we enthrone Him in our being. We call, O LORD Jesus – He is put on the throne in our life.

Of course, as we see in Revelation 22, out of the throne of God flows a river of water of life and on each side of the river is the tree of life – which means that as we take Christ as our Head and our Lord, we receive and enjoy more abundant life!

But the enjoyment of Christ as life should bring us to the throne to be headed up by Christ, have Him as the authority in us. If we go further and realize Christ’s headship, the church will be enlarged to be the city – now, the church is safeguarded! It’s easy to break into a house or to capture a house, but it is not so easy to break into a city or to capture a city.

For this, we need to learn to cooperate with the Lord daily that our will may be subdued and be under the headship of Christ. Then we will be settled.

As the many members of the Body of Christ, having His life in us and enjoying Him as our life, we must be willing to be headed up in Christ, come under the headship of Christ. Then, we will be built into the wall of the city, and there will be no breach.

Even as the young ones among us, as young brothers and sisters, we need to come to the Lord as the Head and take Him as our Lord, enthrone Him in our being, and daily check with Him about everything.

Amen, all the local churches, as the expression of the universal Body of Christ, need the building up of the wall. If we have seen that the local church is the local expression of the Body of Christ, we need to see more that the Body is under the headship of Christ!

We as the members of the Body are under Christ as the Head. There’s no choice actually – we must all be under the authority of Christ. Then, the wall of the city will be built – the wall constitutes the city, and the city signifies / brings in the kingdom of God, where the Christ as the King rules and reigns! [enjoyment from The Recovery of God’s House and God’s City, by bro. Witness Lee]

Lord, gain Your kingdom today! Show us more, Lord, that You are not only our life, but also the Head of the Body! Thank You for putting us in the Body, in the local churches! Lord, we take You as the Head! Head us up, Lord, in all we are and do, even in all our personal universe! May Your kingdom come and Your will be done!
