As believers in Christ, our spirit is life because of righteousness, and in the process of God’s organic salvation, we’re being saved in life through justification in our spirit (to match God’s righteousness), sanctification in our soul (to match God’s holiness), and glorificaiton in our body (to match God’s glory)! Praise the Lord!
What a salvation is this, for Christ to live in us, dwell in us, be in us, and make us the same as He is! Thank the Lord for opening our eyes to see the kernel of the Bible, Romans 5-8, and especially to see the center and focus of the Bible, Romans 8!
In Romans 8, we see that Christ is not only in the heavens, on the cross, or in resurrection, but even more, that He is in us! Christ is in us!
Our Christian life is a matter of our caring for the living Christ in us. It is not a matter of trying to be better people, serve God more, or do more things for God according to the Bible or according to what the church says.
Being a Christian is a matter of enjoying the indwelling Christ, living in oneness with Him throughout the day, and abiding in the Lord by being in our mingled spirit.
Where is Christ today? On the one hand, He is in the heavens, even in the third heaven, enthroned far above all, crowned with glory and honour. On the other hand, He is in our spirit, for we have received Him through regeneration.
When we heard the gospel and opened to the Lord, in His mercy and grace, we repented, and we received the Lord as our Saviour and Redeemer.
We believed into Him as our Saviour, and He came into us as the Spirit. Now Christ is in us, but He’s in us as the Spirit, and the Spirit witnesses with our spirit that we are children of God (Rom. 8:16).
We believe into Christ and we receive the Spirit; we are now joined to the Lord as one spirit (1 Cor. 6:17).
Our Christian life is here, in the joined spirit, the mingled spirit; we live a proper Christian life by exercising our spirit and walking according to the spirit.
Praise the Lord, God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truthfulness (John 4:24).
The Lord Jesus came as God incarnated to be a man, and He went through a process in order to become the Spirit; now the Lord is the Spirit. This is the triune Spirit of the Triune God coming into us to be joined to us, mingled with us, and fully one with us.
May we remain in the organic union with the Lord today, enjoying the mingling of God and man, so that we may express Him in all the things of our daily living. Amen!
Our Spirit is Life Because of Righteousness, though the Body is Dead because of Sin
The second part of Romans 8:10 says, Though the body is dead because of sin, the spirit is life because of righteousness. Wow, our spirit is life!
Before we were saved, our body was alive and living, full of activities and sins; we did not know that our body is dead because of sin. This is why God gave the law: to expose the old man and the flesh.
Through the fall of man, sin entered into the human body, and it brought death with it; now the body is dead and impotent in the things of God.
The fallen human beings may desire to do things for God or be moral, righteous, just, and kind, but their flesh does not allow them to be such ones.
God condemned sin in the flesh (Rom. 8:3); however, this sin has not been uprooted or eradicated from man’s fallen body. Even as believers in Christ who have God’s life and nature in our spirit, we still have sin in our fallen body, and our body is still dead.
This is truly a mystery, something that we experience day by day; though we have God’s life in our spirit and our spirit is life because of righteousness, our body is dead because of sin. Instead of focusing on the sin in our fallen body, however, we need to focus on our spirit, which is life.
Praise the Lord, we believers in Christ have been regenerated by God with His life, and He is in us; because He’s in us and because Christ is our righteousness through faith in Christ, our spirit is life!
This spirit refers not to the Spirit of God, for the Spirit of God is always life; rather, it refers to the human spirit. Because there’s the condition of Christ being in us, the spirit here refers to the human spirit, which is regenerated by God as the Spirit and indwelt by Christ as life. This is wonderful!
Through believing into the Lord Jesus, God made Christ our righteousness; God’s Christ is now our righteousness, our glorious robe, our wonderful dress before God.
Because Christ is our righteousness, we can receive and be filled with the life of God in our spirit, and our spirit is not only living – our spirit is life!
Hallelujah, our human spirit indwelt by God as the Spirit is life! When we believed into the Lord Jesus, He as the divine Spirit of life, came into our spirit to mingle Himself with our spirit; our spirit with the divine Spirit are joined and become one spirit (1 Cor. 6:17).
Now our spirit is life. Our spirit was deadened before our regeneration, and even though our conscience may have bothered us from time to time, the spirit had no function, for it was mortified because of sin.
But praise the Lord, through faith in Christ, He became our righteousness and now our spirit is life! A third of our being, our spirit, is life!
Instead of focusing on the death in our flesh or the independence of the self, we should focus on our spirit!
God justified us by faith, and in His justification, we received righteousness. This righteousness is the Triune God Himself entering into our being, into our spirit. This righteousness results in life, and our spirit is now life.
We need to see that our spirit is life. Just as it was through one offense unto condemnation to all men, so also it was through one righteous act unto justification to life to all men (Rom. 5:18). We are justified unto life.
Before, sin reigned in death, but now, grace reigns through righteousness unto eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord (v. 21).
As we set our mind on our spirit and turn to our spirit to live one spirit with the Lord, grace reigns in us, and this is unto eternal life! Praise the Lord!
Thank You, dear Lord Jesus, for coming into us as the Spirit to regenerate us with Your life and mingle Yourself with us! Amen, Lord, thank You for mingling Yourself with us and being one with us in spirit. Hallelujah, he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit! Praise the Lord, we are one spirit with the Lord! Oh Lord, may we see that we are so joined to You that we are one with You in spirit! Hallelujah, though our body is dead because of sin, our spirit is life because of righteousness! Amen, Lord, our spirit is life! Wow, a third of our being is life. We turn to You in our spirit, dear Lord, for we want to be filled with Your life! Thank You for becoming our righteousness through our faith in Christ. We believe into You. We come to You. May grace reign in us through righteousness unto eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Hallelujah, grace reigns in us unto eternal life! Reign in us, Lord, as grace. Keep us turning to You in spirit throughout the day. May Your life in our spirit spread throughout our entire being!
In God’s Salvation, we Participate in His Righteousness (Justification in our Spirit), Holiness (Sanctification in our Soul), and Glory (Glorification in our Body)
The book of Romans shows us God’s wonderful and marvellous organic salvation. It shows us not only that God redeemed us and saved us, and now He is preparing us for going to meet the Lord; this is a very shallow view of this book.
As God deals with us, He cares for His righteousness, holiness, and glory, and even more, He wants us to partake of His righteousness, holiness, and glory so that He may make us the same as He is in every possible way.
What is God’s righteousness? Righteousness is related to God’s ways, His acts, His actions, and His activities. God is righteous; He is righteousness itself, and everything He does is righteous.
We can’t come up to the standard of God’s righteousness, but praise the Lord, through His salvation, Christ becomes our righteousness!
This is seen in the first stage of God’s salvation; we participate in the righteousness of God and gain God’s righteousness through faith in Christ.
When we believe into Christ, He becomes our righteousness, covering us before God to justify us, and our spirit is life because of righteousness (Rom. 8:10; 2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Cor. 1:30).
We can participate in the righteousness of God; we are justified by God in Christ and because of Christ, and we gain God’s righteousness.
Justification takes care of our spirit; through being justified by God, our spirit can receive God’s life and our spirit is life because of righteousness! Praise the Lord!
What is God’s holiness? Holiness is not a matter of action but of nature; God’s nature is holy, and He is holy.
God is holy in His nature, for He is set apart and uncommon from anything and anyone else. However, God wants us to partake of His holiness; in the second stage of God’s salvation, we are in the process of sanctification, in which God works His divine nature into us.
After being regenerated with God’s life in our spirit, we enter into the process of sanctification in which we are being sanctified both in the aspect of being separated unto God and in the aspect of being saturated with God’s holy nature.
The Lord is daily sanctifying us as we read His word with the exercise of our spirit (John 17:17); we are in the process of being sanctified (Heb. 10:14).
As we set our mind on our spirit, our mind also becomes life; our spirit is life because of righteousness, and as the mind is set on the spirit, the mind also becomes life!
May we continually open to the Lord to be sanctified in our soul (Rom. 12:2; 2 Cor. 3:18).
We are partakers of God’s holy nature through the precious promises in the Word of God, having fled the corruption which is in the world by lust (2 Pet. 1:4), and we are partakers of God’s holiness (Heb. 12:10-11).
This mainly is in our soul, for our soul needs to be sanctified; in the process of God’s salvation, we are sanctified in our soul until our soul is saturated and permeated with God’s holy nature, and even our soul becomes life! Amen!
On the one hand, we have obtained and participated in God’s righteousness outwardly; on the other hand, we need to go on and have God’s holiness wrought into us inwardly.
What is God’s glory? Glory is God expressed; when God is expressed, that is glory. We come short of the glory of God because of sin (Rom. 3:23-25), but through the process of God’s organic salvation, we partake of God’s glory.
First, we partake of God’s righteousness in our spirit, and our spirit is life because of righteousness. Second, we partake of God’s holiness in our soul, and our soul is becoming life through sanctification. Third, we partake of God’s glory in our body, for even our body will be swallowed up by life and will be glorified.
Those whom God foreknew, these He also predestinated to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He may also glorify them (Rom. 8:29-30).
God is working in us from our spirit through our soul and even in our body to saturate us with His life and nature until our whole being is sanctified – spirit, soul, and body (1 Thes. 5:23).
We don’t know how this will be or what we will be, but we know that, when Christ our life appears, we will also be with Him in glory, even be the same as He is (Col. 3:4), for we will see Him as He is (1 John 3:2).
Christ is now leading us, the many sons of God, into glory (Heb. 2:10). Thank the Lord that He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to our mortal bodies through His Spirit who indwells us (Rom. 8:11). Hallelujah!
May we daily cooperate with the indwelling Christ by setting our mind on our spirit to enable the Spirit of life to saturate our mind with Himself. As we do this, our mind becomes life.
May we cooperate with the Lord in our daily life by calling on His name and setting our mind on our spirit, even accepting God’s sovereign arrangement and His dealings with us, so that He may spread in us from our spirit to our soul and even to our body!
One day, we will partake of God’s glory, when our body is transfigured to be conformed to the body of His glory! Praise the Lord!
Lord Jesus, thank You for bringing us into the process of God’s wonderful organic salvation. Thank You for not only saving us from eternal perdition but even more, bringing us into the enjoyment and participation of Your righteousness, holiness, and glory! Amen, Lord, we open to You today. We exercise our spirit to contact You. Hallelujah, our spirit is life because of righteousness! We set our mind on our spirit so that even our mind might become life. Sanctify us in our soul. Spread from our spirit into our soul today. We come to You in Your word, Lord, to be sanctified and partake of Your holiness. Spread as life from our spirit into our mind, emotion, and will. Oh Lord, spread into our body and even swallow up our mortal body in Your life! We just want to cooperate with You today and every day, Lord, in the process of Your organic salvation! Amen, Lord, we believe that one day we will partake of Your glory when You return, for You will transfigure our body of humiliation to glorify it! Praise the Lord!

Life-study of Romans, pp. 197-199, by Witness Lee
Dear brother, our spirit is life because of righteousness! Hallelujah, a third of our being – our regenerated spirit – is life!
Though our body is dead because of sin, our spirit is life because of Christ being our righteousness through faith in Him!
And now we’re in the process of being sanctified in our soul so that His life may spread in our mind, emotion, and will, until one day His life will saturate even our body at the time of our glorification!
Amen. Lord spread throughout all our being.
When we believed in Christ, He as the divine Spirit of life came into our spirit and mingled Himself with it.
Allowing are deadened spirit to receive life and even become life.
We need to cooperate with the Lord by setting our mind on the Spirit, to allow His divine nature to spread and saturate our entire being.
According to Rom. 8:10, brother, “If Christ is in us, our spirit is life because of righteousness,” meaning that in God’s justification, we have gained righteousness.
Through this righteousness, our spirit has been made alive and actually becomes life. This is justification in which we gain righteousness, the Truine God Himself entering into our spirit! (Rom. 5:18, 21)
However, the divine life is not yet in our soul. Therefore, we need to cooperate with the indwelling Christ by setting our mind upon the spirit, enabling the Spirit of life to saturate our mind with Himself. Then our mind will be life.
May we continue to cooperate so that this saturating and spreading One will spread Himself from our spirit even into our mortal body!
May God work His divine nature into us, wrought His holiness into us in sanctification!
Amen, in righteousness we see Gods ways, holiness His nature and in Glory His expression.
Similarly in stages of of God salvation we experience justification, sanctification and in the final stage, glorification by being raptured and brought to God.
The righteousness of the Triune God has made our spirit life.
So, the first stage of our salvation has been taken care of. We’re now in the 2nd stage of having our soul saturated with the divine life.
We need to cooperate with the indwelling Christ by setting our mind upon the spirit and enabling the Spirit of life to saturate our mind with Himself.
In the meantime, we are awaiting the 3rd stage of salvation, the time when our body will be brought into glory.
How marvellous and complete is God’s great salvation. Amen.
It’s such a blessing to be in the light brother.
Ameeen!!!
Bro 1/3 of our being, that is our spirit is life because of righteousness.
Through faith we have been justified according to God’s righteousness, His ways, deeds, and actions.
Then through sanctification our soul is being sanctified, saturated with God’s holy nature.
Eventually our body will be gloriified expressing God in His glory.
