Practice the One Accord in the Church to Apply the Oneness of the Body of Christ

These all continued steadfastly with one accord in prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers. Acts 1:14

The genuine one accord in the church is the practice of the oneness of the Body, which is the oneness of the Spirit; if we practice the principle of the Body, dropping our differences and meaning business with the Lord, we will have the one accord in prayer, for the one accord is the Body. Amen!

This week in our morning revival we come to the topic of, One Accord.

We all need to have a very clear and accurate understanding of how these two simple words, one accord, are used especially in Acts, because everything in carrying out God’s eternal purpose is with a Body-consciousness.

Everything depends on the one accord. The carrying out of God’s purpose, the fulfilling of God’s present leading, the building up of the church, and having an overcoming Christian life, everything depends on the genuine one accord.

In Acts 6:4 we are told that the apostles will continue steadfastly in prayer and in the ministry of the Word, and they continued with one accord in prayer.

In Acts 1:14, similarly, the brothers and sisters were absolutely in one accord, praying steadfastly and continuing steadfastly with one accord. In 4:24, when the saints heard the news, they lifted up their voice with one accord to God.

This is what the Lord wants to gain us today; He wants to gain the one accord in practice among us. The genuine one accord has been lost, and it needs to be recovered.

In Acts 7:57 we see the religious people attacking Stephen; they are about to stone him to death, and they cried out with a loud voice and covered their eyes and rushed upon him with one accord. There is a satanic one accord.

But what the Lord wants to gain is the genuine one accord. In Acts 15:25 we see that the saints have become of one accord.

There was a process by which they became of one accord. Some said the believers from among the Gentiles had to keep the law, while others said they should not; there was fellowship, and the saints have become of one accord.

In the church life, in our serving together, there’s a process for us to become of one accord.

Everything in our Christian life and especially in our Christian work depends on the genuine one accord, which is the practice of the oneness of the Body.

May the Lord enlighten us and may we be willing to be shined on by Him so that we may learn to be in one accord in the church life, even have the genuine one accord among us for the Lord to do what He wants to do in us and with us.

The Genuine One Accord in the Church is the Practice of the Oneness of the Body

One Body and one Spirit, even as also you were called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism; One God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. Eph. 4:4-6

Thank the Lord for making us all one in His Body! The genuine oneness is of the Body of Christ, not of the church; the church is one yet it is many in many localities on the earth, but the Body is one, and oneness is of the Body!

Ephesians 4:3-6 shows us that the genuine one accord in the church is the practice of the oneness of the Body, which is the oneness of the Spirit. Paul doesn’t say that there’s one church and one Spirit; rather, he says, One Body and one Spirit.

The church may be plural, for there are churches in different localities, one church in one locality, but the Body can never be plural. Therefore, the oneness is of the Body and in the Body.

We have genuine one accord in the church, in the Body, and of the Spirit. The practice of the genuine one accord in the church is the application of the oneness; when the oneness is practiced, it becomes the one accord (Acts 1:14; 2:46).

This is not a theory or doctrine; it is not just something merely objective. This is the very essence of the genuine church life; the one accord is the essence.

The church is one universally and many in all the localities on the earth, but the Body is one. In the Body of Christ, we need oneness, and in the churches and among the churches, we need the one accord.

For our practice of the church life, we need to have the genuine one accord. We practice the genuine one accord based on the fact that we have the oneness of the Body of Christ.

In John 17:11 the Lord Jesus prayed that we all may be one, even as the Father and the Son and the Spirit are one. This is oneness in fact.

Then, on the day of Pentecost, by pouring out Himself as the consummated Spirit, He accomplished His prayer. He obtained the oneness! The one accord is the practice of the oneness.

The landmark that divides the Gospels and the Acts is the one accord among the one hundred twenty (Acts 1:14). There were eleven disciples plus one more which was added to replace Judas, and they were in one accord in prayer with the saints who were gathered together, all one hundred twenty of them.

All of them went through the cross and had a new beginning in the power of the Lord’s resurrection. They were all broken, subdued, and they were truly in genuine oneness in prayer for not just one hour – it was day after day!

They saw the Lord being raised, they received His instructions to remain in prayer until He sends the promised Spirit, and they were in one accord in prayer.

This first mention of the one accord, the genuine one accord, is the landmark between the Gospels and Acts, for the Lord had a clear way to have a new move with the group of saints in one accord.

They had become one in the Body, and in that oneness they continued steadfastly with one accord in prayer.

We may say that we know the Body and care for the Body, but we actually need to have the genuine accord in order to be in the reality of the Body of Christ.

And I am no longer in the world; yet they are in the world, and I am coming to You. Holy Father, keep them in Your name, which You have given to Me, that they may be one even as We are. John 17:11Thank the Lord that He accomplished the oneness on the cross, and then He outpoured the Spirit, who is the reality of our oneness.

We today keep the oneness of the Body by keeping the oneness of the Spirit; we practice the oneness of the Body of Christ by having the genuine one accord. May we all advance in our experience of the divine life, stage by stage, until we become Body-conscious.

May we be those who know the Body of Christ experientially and live in the Body, build up the Body, and keep the principle of the Body!

It is only when we are Body-conscious and live in the reality of the Body that we can engage corporately in spiritual warfare.

When the apostles and the believers in the book of Acts practiced the church life, they practiced it in one accord (see Acts 2:46; 4:24, 32; 5:12; 15:25).

The one accord is the practice of the oneness; we have the oneness, but we need to practice it in our living and in the church life by having the genuine one accord.

Lord Jesus, cause us to see that the genuine one accord in the church is the practice of the oneness of the Body! Hallelujah, we believers in Christ have the oneness of the Spirit, which is the oneness of the Body of Christ! Amen, Lord, we want to keep the oneness. We want to practice the oneness. We want to apply the oneness. May we have the practice of the genuine one accord in the church so that we may apply the oneness! Amen, when the oneness is practiced, it becomes the one accord. Oh Lord, save us from only having the oneness in spirit – may we have the genuine one accord in practicality. We give ourselves to You to grow in life, be matured in Your life, and know the Body and live in the reality of the Body of Christ. Gain the one accord among us today. May we live and practice the church life in the genuine one accord so that You may gain Your corporate testimony and expression among us! Amen, Lord, we give ourselves to You for You to gain what You are after among us and in us!

Practice the One Accord in the Church to Apply the Oneness: the One Accord is the Body!

Again, truly I say to you that if two of you are in harmony on earth concerning any matter for which they ask, it will be done for them from My Father who is in the heavens. Matt. 18:19

In John 17 the Lord Jesus prayed for oneness, which is the oneness of the Body of Christ, the oneness of the Spirit.

We have the oneness; whenever we are in our spirit, we have the oneness. However, we need to be led by the Lord to practice the one accord, that is, to apply the oneness.

In Matt. 18 the Lord Jesus led us to practice the one accord. Matt. 18:19 the Lord Jesus spoke of two praying together on earth in harmony, in one accord. The Lord needs to unveil us not only to see that we have the oneness in spirit but even more, lead us to practice the one accord.

We need the Lord’s leading, training, and directing to pray in one accord.

For example, when we are in the prayer meeting, are we in one accord? When someone prays, do we say Amen and are we one with them, or do we shake our head as an indication of our displeasure? Oh Lord!

When we shake our head or nod our head as others pray, we express either our displeasure or agreement. This shows that we do not practice the oneness, because we don’t have the one accord.

The Lord Jesus said that if two of us n earth pray in one accord, our prayer will be answered. He wants to do many things, He wants to pour out the response to our prayer, but He needs our prayer in one accord.

We need to practice the one accord in our prayer.

How can we be in one accord? How can we practice the one accord if we are so different in our upbringing, experience, race, and opinions? We can practice the one accord based on the fact that we all have a common life.

We may be different in race, in the colour of our skin, and even in our background and upbringing, but when we come together to pray, we must forget any difference. We must forget about the different races and colours.

We need to even forget about our opinions and feelings and simply mean business with the Lord for the advancement of His move on earth.

If we don’t have the same understanding, the same intention, the same purpose, and the same goal, it will be impossible for us to pray together in one accord. Oh Lord Jesus!

How much we need to be attuned in the same mind and understanding, even in the same purpose and goal, so that we may be in one accord!

If we believers in Christ come together and each one of us have their our own goal, intention, and opinion, how can we pray in one accord? There will be no base for prayer in one accord.

And when they heard [this,] they lifted up [their] voice with one accord to God and said, Sovereign Master, You are the One who has made heaven and earth and the sea and all things in them. Acts 4:24 It seemed good to us, having become of one accord, to choose men to send to you together with our beloved Barnabas and Paul. Acts 15:25 But if we love the Lord and mean business for the Lord’s purpose, and then we come together to pray, we will surely have the base to pray in one accord. Praise the Lord, we can be in one accord because we have a common life!

We can practice one accord based on the fact that we have the same life, the divine of God, which makes us one! If we practice the principle of the Body, we will have the one accord, for the one accord is the Body (Rom. 12:4-5; 15:5-6; 1 Cor. 12:12-13, 20, 27; 1:10). Wow!

The one accord is the Body of Christ. How can others see Jesus living again, Jesus being expressed in humanity?

It is not by many individual believers doing a work for God but by practicing the principle of the Body so that we may be in one accord.

This is why in the book of Acts we see that God had an impact through the disciples of Christ; it was because they applied the one accord, they did everything in the one accord, and they exercised to do everything in one accord.

In their preaching of the gospel, in their teaching, and in their prayer, in all things they practiced the one accord.

May we be those who mean business with the Lord today and who love Him to the extent that we set aside any difference and pray in one accord to practice the one accord and allow the Lord to do what He desires to do today.

Lord Jesus, we want to practice the proper one accord in the church so that we may apply the oneness of the Spirit! Hallelujah, we have the oneness of the Body, and we can practice it in the church life. Have a way in our being, Lord, and attune us with the saints to be in the same mind, emotion, and will. Lead us, train us, and direct us to pray in one accord. Oh Lord, may You gain the prayer in one accord in the church life today! May we be those who practice the oneness and have the genuine one accord today. Hallelujah, we are one in the Lord, and based on this oneness, we can practice the one accord! Praise the Lord, we have the same life, the divine life of God in our spirit, and we can be one! Oh Lord, we want to forget about opinion, intentions, and goals, and pray in one accord! Amen, Lord, we mean business for Your purpose as we come together and we exercise our spirit to pray in one accord!

Strictly speaking, the genuine oneness is not of the church but of the Body; it is the Body’s own organic oneness. In Ephesians 4:4, after telling us to keep the oneness of the Spirit, Paul does not say, “One church and one Spirit”; rather, he says, “One Body and one Spirit.” The church may be plural as the churches in different localities, but the Body could never be plural. Whether it is viewed locally or universally, the Body is one. In contrast, the church is universally one but locally many. In the Body we need oneness; in the churches and among the churches, we need the one accord. The one accord is for our practice; the oneness is primarily for the actuality, for the fact. In John 17 the Lord Jesus prayed for such a fact, and on the day of Pentecost, by pouring out Himself as the consummated Spirit, He accomplished His prayer…After the accomplishment of the actuality of the oneness, there is the need for the practice of the oneness…The one accord is the practice of the oneness.

Christ has accomplished and given us the oneness in the Body of Christ; we now need to apply the oneness by practicing the one accord.

If two on earth pray in one accord, their prayer will be answered. May we practice the one accord based on the fact that we have a common life.

May we mean business for the Lord’s purpose, put aside any differences and opinions, and practice the one accord in prayer!

Amen, Lord Jesus, gain the one accord among us in the church life today!

Ameen. Gain the accord among us!!!

Objectively, theoretically, and spiritually we have the oneness because we have the Spirit and because the Spirit is the onenesss. But if we don’t keep, apply, and practice the oneness we don’t have the one accord. Hence the one accord is the subjective oneness/ applied and practical oneness.

Praise the Lord for the pattern of the early believers who practiced the one accord in prayer and in the practice of the church life.

Brother, thanks for this enlightenment. I genuinely struggled this morning trying to differentiate onness from one accord. By the end of my allotted time, l confess becoming frustrated, confused, and worried with nothing to show forth. I’ve been in a real twist with wonder!

Thank God for the simplicity of content your portion brought and the clarity it shed.
For some unexplained reason, the import of the message has dropped.

Thank God for His supply through a member of the Body. Oh, how we need one another’s portion. Thank u, my brother! Your portion this morning comes with life, and health, and peace!

The genuine one accord as shown in Acts, for which the Lord prayed in John 17 is the practice, the application of the oneness of the Body.

In the Body there is the oneness but in the churches we need the one accord.

If there is the practice of the oneness among the local churches, then this will be apparent through our being in one accord as we pray, having the same mind and the same opinion.

Lord, gain the one accord through our being one in spirit! Amen. Lord, gain the one accord through our prayer as the practical application of the Body!

Amen. Lord gain the genuine one accord in the church life.

In the body we need oneness, in the churches and among the churches we need the one accord.

We need to apply the oneness by practicing the one accord, otherwise the oneness we have will become very objective.

We must have the one accord to swallow up all the differences, then the oneness will be present.

O Lord bring us into the reality of oneness today. Save us from our opinion and preferences. Lord gain us for the genuine church life.

Amen, in the body we need oneness, we need to practice the one accord; oneness of the body which is oneness of the Spirit.

As long as we have difference oneness cannot be applied. Own opinions, goals and intention separate us from the one accord.

We all have a common life, we must have one accord to swallow up the differences so we can pray as one body.

Help us today to see one life in us all Lord, turn to our spirit and strengthen our sense in oneness. Amen Lord Jesus, may we mean business for the Lords purpose

Amen brother. When oneness is practiced, it becomes the one accord; the same understanding, intention, purpose & goal.

One accord is the life pulse of prayer, the Spirit and the Word.

This one accord was the landmark of the NT, and it’s the master key to every blessing.

May we be willing to set aside our opinions and intentions, and pursue the one accord.

The disciples might have prayed to be clothed with the Spirit of power, the promise of the Father, for which the Lord had charged them to remain in Jerusalem (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4), and might also have prayed for the commission given to them by the Lord in Luke 24:47-48 and Luke 1:8 of this book to bear His testimony to the uttermost part of the earth.

God wanted to pour out His Spirit for the carrying out of His New Testament economy and had promised to do it. Yet He still needed His chosen people to pray for this. As God in heaven, He needs men on earth to cooperate with Him for the carrying out of His plan. The one hundred twenty disciples’ praying for ten days met this need of God’s.
