Christ as the Peacemaker Made Peace on the Cross by Abolishing all the Ordinances

The peace offering typifies Christ as the peacemaker; because of the ordinances, regulations, customs, habits, rituals, and ways of living and worship, we all are divided and scattered, so Christ came and made peace between us in His body on the cross.

Hallelujah, Christ is our peace, Christ made peace, and Christ came to preach the gospel as peace. Our God is a God of peace, and we as believers in Christ have the peaceful nature of our Father, and we need to walk in peace and have peace with God and with man, as much as it depends on us.

How can we have peace in this world full of troubles, problems, issues, social injustice, and cultural differences? Especially with the rise of nationalism in many countries, and with the emphasis on making sure we live in our culture and stress our culture, there is so much division among peoples.

We need to enjoy and experience Christ as the peacemaker – He is our peace offering, for in His body on the cross He made peace, He tore down the middle wall of partition, and He created the two – the Jews and the Gentiles – into one new man.

When we believed into the Lord, we were justified by faith in Him, we were reconciled to God from sin, and through Christ and in Christ we have peace toward God and man.

Now that we were reconciled to God from sin, we need to spend time with the Lord in prayer to fellowship with Him, and the peace of Christ – which is God Himself as peace – will be infused into us to be the counterpoise to troubles and the antidote to anxiety.

It is Christ Himself who is our peace, it is Christ Himself who can give peace, and it is Christ Himself who can bring peace in us and among us. Without Christ, no matter how much we or the United Nations want to bring in peace, there is no peace.

Only Christ is real peace, and He gives us His peace not as the world does. We may have affliction in the world, and we may have problems and difficulties, but in Christ – the One who has overcome the world – we have peace.

When we live in the spirit, one spirit with the Lord, we have peace, no matter the outward environment. Outwardly we may encounter difficulties and affliction, but when we touch the Lord inwardly and contact Him in spirit, we have peace.

Inwardly we live in the realm of peace, which is God in Christ as the Spirit to be our peace, and outwardly we live in the world but not as ones who are of the world.

We need Christ as our Peace Offering, the Peacemaker, in this Scattered and Divided World

Because man fell, today among peoples there are many ordinances, customs, habits, and ways of living and worship; all these have divided us, scattered us, and made us live in confusion.

Actually, there are partitions between every nationality and race, and thus among the human race there’s no peace – there’s only enmity, discord, and war (Eph. 2:14-15; cf. Psa. 46:9; Isa. 2:4; 9:6-7; 11:6-9; Micah 4:3; Zech. 9:10). This is the impossible situation of the human races on the earth today.

There was a time when the Lord used some people in society in the way of a peaceful resistance to address all kinds of injustice, brutality, and hatred, and there seemed to be some progress being made throughout the following decades.

But what we see today is an incredible degradation and hostility, especially between races. What is God’s way to bring forth the Body of Christ and the one new man? It is the cross; on the cross Christ solved all the problems, and the cross terminated all the differences and divisions, for Christ as the Peacemaker made peace on the cross.

We need to see a vision of the one new man, a corporate God-man, the organic Body of Christ, and the enlarged oneness of the Triune God.

We need to realize that through the gospel God calls people out of every race, social class, and nationality, to be redeemed, forgiven, cleansed, reconciled, and regenerated. For Christ to gain the one new man we need to refuse to cling to anything that divides us.

Our God is at work, and through Christ as the peace offering, He will do what is humanly impossible – He will bring us into the oneness of which He prayed in John 17, and when the world sees this oneness, they will know that God sent His Son.

Because there cannot be peace in the universe without Christ, the Peacemaker, we need Christ as our peace offering (see Eph. 2:14-15; Col. 1:20; Lev. 3:1-17; 7:11-38). When Christ came, peace came; peace was born in Bethlehem, and His name is Prince of peace (Isa. 9:6).

We should trust in Him, come to Him, and enjoy Him, and refuse to trust in any person, program, or movement that tries to “bring in peace” apart from Christ.

Christ Himself is the Peacemaker – He is our peace offering (Lev. 3:1-5; Eph. 2:15). Christ fulfilled the reality of the type of the peace offering, and He Himself is our peace; through Christ and in Christ we have peace with God and with one another (Col. 3:15; 1 Thes. 5:13).

A very practical and sweet application of Christ as the Peacemaker, our peace offering, is at the Lord’s Table; as we come to partake of the bread and the cup, we should have a sense within before the Lord,

Lord, we partake of these signs through You as the peace offering, and as far as it depends on me, I am at peace with every member of the Body of Christ!

Apart from Christ we can’t have peace with God and with one another; we can have peace with God and with others only through Christ, with Christ, and in Christ (Rom. 5:1; 12:18). In the Body and for the Body life, we all need Christ as our peace.

It is good to be before the Lord and inquire of Him, under His light and in prayer, whether there’s anything we do or say that the Body is not peaceful about. Our peace is in the Body and for the Body.

Lord Jesus, we need You as our peace offering, our Peacemaker, in this world which is so divided, scattered, and confused because of the ordinances, customs, habits, and way of living and worship. Thank You Lord, You made peace for us on the cross, and You are our Peacemaker. Thank You for calling us out of any division and scattering to be the Body of Christ and the one new man, where there cannot be any distinction but Christ is all and in all. We take you as our peace offering, and in You we have peace with God and with man.

Christ Abolished all Differences of Human Life and Religion and Created the one New Man!

On the cross Christ abolished all the ordinances, all the ways of living and worship that divide us; furthermore, He created in Himself the one new man, making peace between the Jews and the Gentiles (Eph. 2:14-15).

Christ, who accomplished full redemption for both the Jewish and the Gentile believers, is Himself our peace, our harmony; He is our Peacemaker, and He is our peace. When Christ was crucified as the peace offering,

His death abolished, annulled, the different ordinances of human life and religion. Hallelujah, through the death of Christ on the cross the differences among the races and the differences of social rank have all been abolished!

There is a “middle wall of partition” right now between Jews and Gentiles and between all the nations, peoples, races, and social classes. And this partition is the enmity; as long as we hold on to partitions and insist on the differences, the living out of the one new man is an impossibility.

Christ abolished the ordinances of the law, which are related to the way we live and worship, the rules and our culture, so that He might create the two in Himself into new man, so making peace.

Christ as the Peacemaker removed all the divisive elements, and He created in Himself the one new man.

Hallelujah, the devil has been destroyed and enmity has been slain!

Christ Himself is our peace – He is the Peacemaker, for He terminated all the divisive factors, tore down the partition, and slew the enmity, and in Himself as the sphere and with Himself as the essence, He created us as the one new man, so making peace.

Since Christ as the Peacemaker abolished all the differences among the races and the differences of social rank on the cross, we need to not cling to these but drop all our differences.

For the sake of the peace in the Body and for the one new man, for the New Jerusalem as the ultimate peace offering, we need to refuse to cling to the things that sustain the enmity!

By Christ’s abolishing in His flesh the separating ordinances, that is, by His slaying the enmity, and by His creating the Jewish and the Gentile believers into one new man, peace was made between all believers.

Before Christ was crucified on the cross, there was no peace between Jews and Gentiles; but based on Eph. 2:15, Christ abolished in His flesh the separating ordinances and created the Jewish and Gentile believers into all man, thus He as the Peacemaker made peace between all the believers.

Christ made peace between man and God and between peoples; there’s no longer any separation between the Jewish believers and the Gentile believers, nor between us and God. Hallelujah!

Thank You Lord for accomplishing full redemption for us and for making peace between us and God and us and all men. You are our peace, You are the Peacemaker, and You are our harmony. Thank You for slaying all the separating ordinances on the cross. Thank You for being the peace offering for us to have peace with God and peace with all men. Lord, we refuse to cling to anything that sustain the enmity. We refuse to cling to any ordinance, and we turn to You in spirit to enjoy and experience You as the Peacemaker, our peace offering!
