The Divine Trinity as revealed in the holy Word is for the dispensing of the Triune God into man; it is such a blessing to have His countenance smiling upon us, to have His peace, and to enjoy the Triune God; the Triune God is our unique blessing!
The eternal blessing of the Triune God is so much more than things which are material, a career, or a work for God that we can do and is great; this blessing is the Triune God dispensing Himself in His Divine Trinity to fill us and saturate us until we become one with Him and even become Him in life, nature, expression, and function, to be His people, His corporate expression.
When we speak of this word, blessing, we do not refer to what is commonly known as blessing, something that is unmerited or undeserved, something good, being given to us by someone; rather, blessing is God Himself being dispensed into us to be our everything.
Blessing is a speaking, a statement from God, a speaking of favor, good will, and happiness to us, and the situation that fulfills that blessing, the condition that displays that blessing, which are all the wonderful, kind, blessed words.
It’s not a small thing to be under the blessing of God; it is not a small thing to be placed in the right position for God to give us His blessing.
The problem is that, in our natural and traditional understanding, most of the time we consider God’s blessing as being something outward, material, and even physical; we need to have our view changed to realise that God’s blessings are divine, eternal, and inward.
We need the Triune God to speak to us, to unveil us to see what is God’s blessing, so that we may be enveloped, embraced, and enshrouded by the blessed speaking of the Triune God, so that the reality of these blessings would fill us, saturate us, and permeate us.
In the entire universe our unique blessing is the Triune God; the Triune God is the unique blessing, and this blessing comes to us through the dispensing of the Divine Being into us in His Divine Trinity.
Being blessed doesn’t mean that you get a better car, a wonderful wife, good children, a good house, or a better job; being blessed means that you enjoy the divine dispensing of the Divine Trinity into our being.
Today we want to see even more of what this means, what does the Bible tell us about this, and how can we enter into the enjoyment of the divine dispensing so that we may enjoy God’s blessing!
The Divine Trinity is how God Dispenses Himself into us for us to Enjoy the Triune God
2 Cor. 13:14 is a fascinating verse, being a New Testament blessing from the apostle Paul for the believers in Christ to enjoy the divine dispensing of the Triune God.
The grace of the Lord, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Spirit are not three separate matters but three aspects of the same thing, just as the Lord, God, and the Holy Spirit are not three separate Gods but three “hypostases” of the same one undivided and indivisible God.
Because the book of 2 Corinthians is on the grace of Christ (see 2 Cor. 1:12; 4:15; 6:1; 8:1, 9; 9:8, 14; 12:9), the grace of Christ is mentioned first; the source of grace is the love of God, and the flowing of grace is the fellowship of the Spirit.
The Triune God in three divine hypostases (three supporting elements or substances) – the Father, the Son, and the Spirit – is needed by the distracted and confused believers in Corinth who were comforted and restored.
When we read this verse we strongly realise that the trinity of the Godhead is NOT for our doctrinal understanding of systematic theology but for the dispensing of God Himself in His Divine Trinity into us, His chosen and redeemed people.
When the Divine Trinity is mentioned in the New Testament it is always in regard to the relationship of God with His creatures, especially with man, and more particularly with us, His chosen and redeemed people.
For instance, after Christ resurrected from the dead, He charged His disciples to go and disciple the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (see Matt. 28:19).
He charged the disciples to bring the believing ones into the Triune God, that is, into an organic union with the processed God who went through a long process to enter into resurrection.
Because of such an organic union and based on such a union, the apostle blessed the believers with the blessed Divine Trinity in participation in the Son’s grace with the Father’s love through the Spirit’s fellowship.
In portion after portion in the New Testament we see that the divine revelation of the trinity of the Godhead in the Bible, from Genesis through Revelation, is for the apprehending of how God dispenses Himself into His chosen people so that they would enjoy and participate in what He is.
God in His mysterious and marvelous Trinity dispenses Himself into us, His chosen people, so that we may participate in, enjoy, and possess the processed Triune God now and for eternity! Hallelujah!
As we are blessed by Jehovah, being under the divine dispensing of the Divine Trinity, we enjoy the Father, the Son, and the Spirit, and there is a spontaneous result – we become a blessing to others.
The spontaneous and effortless result of our enjoying and participating in the processed Triune God as a result of God’s dispensing is that we become the channel of the Triune God’s further dispensing.
We simply become the extension of the dispensing of the Triune God, going forth to extend, confer, and release the divine blessing of the Triune God to others. This blessing is for the building up of the church so that the Lord can gain a corporate expression.
Lord Jesus, we open to Your divine dispensing today! We want to enjoy and be blessed with the processed and inner circulating Triune God day by day so that we can dispense Him as the unique blessing of the universe into others! Amen, Lord, keep us enjoying and receiving the divine dispensing, and keep us dispensing You into others for the accomplishment of God’s heart’s desire to have the testimony of Jesus, the corporate expression of Jesus! Lord, dispense Yourself in us and through us into others for the building up of the church, the Body of Christ, Your corporate expression on the earth!
Enjoying the Triune God as our Unique Blessing and Dispensing Him as Blessing to Others
The truth concerning the Divine Trinity is so deep and so high, and the realisation that the unique blessing in the universe is the Triune God being dispensed into us is so great.
But sometimes, when we consider our situation in our Christian life, we may be disappointed and we may feel that everything under the sun and everything in the spiritual field is vanity of vanities…we may feel that nothing is real – not even the church life.
What should we do when we feel this way?
We may even want to give up, thinking that this high truth doesn’t match our experience; we may think that, since our experience doesn’t match what we know and what we see, what’s the point of it? But what should we really do in such a time?
We should simply turn to the Triune God. Our real blessing and portion is nothing else but the Triune God.
Real blessing is not an excellent job, a nice house, a peaceful life, a high education, a good family life, or great success in life. Being blessed doesn’t mean that we have a high position in the church.
Rather, being blessed is having the Triune God, being under the dispensing of the Triune God in His Divine Trinity. What a blessing it is to have the Triune God as our blessing!
What a blessing it s to have His face, His presence, and to enjoy Him daily as grace! What a blessing it is to be kept by Him and blessed by Him, and to have His lifted-up countenance upon us giving us peace!
The more we suffer, the more we enjoy Him as grace. The more we turn to Him, the more we have His smiling face in our spirit; His countenance smiles upon us, assures us, and confirms us. Oh, what a blessing it is to have peace in Him, by Him, and with Him!
The only way we can be kept in our Christian walk and in the church life is by the dispensing of the Father, who also blesses us.
The only way to have His shining and enjoy Him as grace is by the dispensing of the Son, who shines on us and is gracious to us.
The only way we can be happy is by having the Lord’s smile over us and by having His peace, and this is by the dispensing of the Spirit with our spirit.
The result of our enjoyment of God is that we have peace; when we enjoy Christ as grace and are kept by the Father, we have peace, and God is happy with us.
When we enjoy the Triune God as our everything to supply us and be everything to us, we have real safety, enjoyment, and peace.
Today this world becomes more and more an unsafe place; the real safety can be found really in the Triune God, who comes to us through the enjoyment of grace.
Through His death and resurrection, Christ became a life-giving Spirit, and He breathes Himself into us to infuse us with all that He is and has accomplished.
The real blessing is this, having the dispensing of the Triune God in His Divine Trinity and being a blessing to others also by dispensing God into them. May we be such ones!
Triune God, we come to You – You are our real blessing and our true portion! What a blessing it is to have the Triune God as our safety, our enjoyment, and our peace! What a blessing it is to be kept by the Father, to enjoy the Son as grace, and to be filled with peace by the Spirit! What a blessing it is to have God’s countenance be lifted up upon us assuring us, confirming us, and promising us! Amen, Lord, keep us under Your blessing, enjoying Your divine dispensing, and make us a channel of blessing to others!
