God desires that Christ might have the first place, the preeminence, in all things

In God’s eyes, Christ is the Beloved Son – He treasures Christ, gives everything to Christ, and Christ is His Favourite! Even more, according to Col. 1:15, Christ is the firstborn of all creation – He is the first in the old creation. In Col. 1:18 it says,

And He is the Head of the Body, the church; He is the beginning, the Firstborn from the dead, that He Himself might have the first place in all things.

In the divine economy, Christ it the One having the preeminence in all things – He is preeminent in both the first creation(the old creation) and the new creation! The new creation was produced through the resurrection of Christ from the dead – in the new creation, Christ has the first place! He is the first in resurrection, and He is meant by God to have the preeminence in the new creation!

On the one hand, Christ is the preeminent one in the old creation, in the universe, as the environment in which we exist; on the other hand, Christ is preeminent in the new creation, in the church, in His Body, where He is the Head over all things. Wow!

We need to see that in God’s economy, Christ occupies the first place both in the old and in the new creation! When we see this as a vision, our whole Christian life will be revolutionized! We will learn to give Christ the preeminence in all things – He must be the first in everything related to us!

Actually, to be the first in something means to be all. Christ is the first in the old creation – He is everything in the old creation, He is in all! He’s the reality of all the positive things in the old creation.

Also, in the church, Christ is all and in all – He is everyone and in everyone in the new man (Col. 3:11). Just as the first Adam included everyone in the mankind, thus when Adam fell the entire mankind fell, so Christ includes everything and everyone in both the old and the new creation – He is everything in the universe and in the new creation! Wow, what a Christ have we!

He fills the heavens and the earth, He is everything in the universe, He is God’s heart’s desire, and He is everyone and in everyone in the new creation! He is so rich and so inexhaustible – He fills all and in all; He is so great – the entire universe is needed to contain Him; He is the first – in both the old and the new creation. Hallelujah, Christ is the first, and Christ is everything!

How does this relate to us? What about our “personal universe“? Is Christ the first in our being, in our living, in our environment, in everything we are and do and speak?

In His economy, God administrates the universe in order to fulfill His purpose of making Christ the preeminent One – He desires that Christ be the First, the most Preeminent One, even the Head over all things!

We as His people need to take the lead in taking Christ as our Head, giving Him the preeminence, and enthroning Him in our life. This is especially true regarding our personal universe – our being, our family, our work, our school, our university, the church life, places we spend time in, and everything related to us. Christ must have the first place in all things in us first!

In our universe many things happen every day for the purpose of making Christ preeminent. We just need to cooperate with the Lord’s operating and allow Christ to be the First in all things related to us! [enjoyment from The Conclusion of the New Testament, msg. 24, by bro. Lee]

Lord, have the first place in us! You are God’s heart’s desire, and You are the first in both the old and the new creation! Lord, what about our personal universe! What about everything and everyone related to us, all the things we own or do, and our family/church life!?! Lord, we give You the preeminence in matter after matter, situation after situation, relationship after relationship, and thing after thing! In everything, dear Lord, You must now break through and be the First! May nothing replace You as the Preeminent One in us!
