Learning to Enjoy Christ as our Peace Offering by Speaking with the Lord Constantly

Psa. 62:8 Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge to us.We need to learn to enjoy Christ as our peace offering; we are joined to the Lord, even one spirit with Him, and in this organic union we tell Him everything, and as we open to Him, His peace guards our heart. Christ Himself is the peace between God and us, His people, for our co-enjoyment in fellowship.

God is faithful – He called us into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord (1 Cor. 1:9). We have been called in a joint participation of Christ with God for our mutual enjoyment.

God is faithful to remove anything that replaces Christ, anything that takes precedence over Christ. We may focus on our health, safety, security, or possessions, and these may consume us and become our idols; God wants to be our health, our security, our safety, and our possessions – He wants to be everything to us.

We simply need to open to the Lord, tell Him everything, turn our heart to Him, and let Him come in with His peace to guard our heart.

Anything that causes us to be anxious needs to be turned into prayer to the Lord; we need to tell Him everything, give Him all our cares, wants, and needs, and He will give us His peace – He will even mount guard around our heart to protect it in His peace.

Having peace is a measurement to show us to what degree we enjoy Christ; the more we come to the Lord, enjoy Him, give all our problems and cares to Him, the more we have His peace. This is a very sweet and experiential application of Christ as the peace offering.

What we should do today is just enjoy Christ; we don’t have yesterday, and tomorrow is not here, so we should not be worried about tomorrow but enjoy Christ today, even right now.

The world may try to give us peace, but the Lord is our peace – He is the real peace, and when we are in Him and with Him, we have peace.

Daily, especially in the morning, we need to forget what is behind (whether good or bad, victory or defeat, trouble or joy) and stretch forward to Christ to enjoy Him in a fresh way, gain Him, obtain Him, experience Him, and live Him.

Our Christian life should be a quest to gain Christ and experience Him so that we may live Christ and magnify Him. So today – even right now – we need to give ourselves to enjoy the Lord!

Do you have problems? Tell the Lord about it. Are you happy? Tell the Lord about it. Is Satan trying to cause you to be anxious about tomorrow? Open to the Lord about it.

In the Organic Union with Christ we Enjoy Christ as our Peace Offering and have Peace

Our relationship with Christ is not a matter of replacement; it is a matter of identification. It is even more than union. Thus the word union cannot fully convey the truth regarding our fellowship with Christ. Our fellowship with Christ is a matter of identification, a matter of us becoming Him and of Him becoming us. We and Christ are one. We become Him and He becomes us....To be replaced by Christ means that we are removed altogether. Our relationship with Christ is a matter not of replacement but of being one with Him. Witness Lee, Life-study of Leviticus, pp. 158-159When someone offered a peace offering to God, he had to lay his hand on the head of his offering (see Lev. 3:2, 8, 13); this is a matter of identification and union of the offerer with the offering.

This is what our relationship with the Lord is: we are laying our hands on Him spiritually, that is, we are joined to Him, even identified with Him – we and the Lord are one spirit (1 Cor. 6:17).

Our relationship with Christ is not a matter of replacement, in which He comes and replaces us, and we are removed or wiped out; rather, our relationship with Him is a matter of identification, for it is an organic union.

To be replaced by Christ is to be removed altogether, but to be one with Christ means that we become Him and He becomes us. We become Him in life, nature, expression, and function, and He becomes us to live in us and do everything in us.

The peace offering is illustrated in Luke 15:23-24 by the fattened calf as a peaceful enjoyment between the receiving father (typifying God) and the returned prodigal son (typifying us, the sinners).

We all like the prodigal son left our father’s house and squandered His riches dissolutely, and just when everything ran out, a famine came in the land; this means that someone is praying for us – the Father, who waits for us to return to Him.

While we are a long way off, the Father sees us, waits for us, runs toward us, and even though we may have a whole speech ready to apologize, He hugs us and takes care of us.

When we return to the Lord and enjoy Him in the Father’s house, Christ as God’s satisfying righteousness covers us as penitent sinners (“the best robe”), the sealing Spirit is applied to us (“the ring”), the power of God’s salvation separates us from the dirt of this earth (“the sandals”), and the rich Christ sacrificed on the cross for our enjoyment and organic salvation is our feast (“the fattened calf”).

The Father receives us back, and Christ the Son is our rich feast; we simply need to take Christ as our peace offering and enjoyment, and be one with Him to enjoy Him in a peaceful situation and condition with the Father.

When we enjoy the Lord in this organic union with Him, we are filled with His peace.

Thank You Lord for bringing us into an organic union with You so that we may enjoy You as our everything. We come to You, Lord, to just enjoy You. Keep us in our mingled spirit, one spirit with You, to have a peaceful enjoyment with God. We lay our hands on You, Lord Jesus, and take You as our peace offering. You made peace between us and God, You are our peace, and You bring us into God to enjoy all the riches of God by being organically joined to God. We love You, Lord Jesus!

Learning to Enjoy Christ as our Peace Offering by Speaking with the Lord Constantly

Phil. 4:11-13 Not that I speak according to lack, for I have learned, in whatever circumstances I am, to be content. I know also how to be abased, and I know how to abound; in everything and in all things I have learned the secret both to be filled and to hunger, both to abound and to lack. I am able to do all things in Him who empowers me.We need to learn the secret of enjoying Christ as our peace offering; He made peace, He is our peace, and He wants to give us peace – a peace that surpasses every man’s understanding (see Phil. 4:12, 7; John 16:33).

While he was in prison, Paul enjoyed Christ as the law of rejoicing, and He encouraged the Philippians to rejoice in the Lord. He learned the secret how to take Christ as everything and be content with all things, and he lived Christ.

We need to be initiated into a secret society where we learn how to enjoy Christ, live Christ, magnify Christ, pursue Christ, and be found in Christ.

How do we do this? It is by letting our requests being made known to God, by speaking with the Lord about everything and conferring with Him in everything.

We need to be those learning to enjoy Christ as our peace offering so that we may take Christ as life, live Christ, magnify Christ, and gain Christ in any environment and in any matter (see Phil. 4:11-13).

We need to trust in the Lord at all times, and pour out our heart before the Lord (Psa. 62:8).

One of the best ways to enjoy the divine dispensing is to learn to talk to the Lord about everything. We shouldn’t first talk to people about things – first speak with the Lord, turn your anxiety into forbearance by taking to the Lord, and make your request made known to Him.

We may have problems, we may be perplexed about our situations, things in our life may not make sense, and all these things happening to us may be troublesome to us.

The solution is to enter into the sanctuary of God, that is, touch the Lord in our mingled spirit and come to the meetings of the church, the temple of God.

When we enter into the sanctuary of God by contacting the Lord, speaking with Him, and being in the meetings of the church, we receive divine revelation and the explanation to all our problems. Our problems may not be solved, but we will receive the divine revelation and explanation.

When we turn to our spirit and enjoy Christ as our peace offering, not keeping things inside but telling Him everything, He becomes our everything.

Drawing near to God is good for us. We should ask for the Lord’s counsel in every detail of our life, checking with Him, talking to Him, and asking Him about the things happening to us or the things we’re about to do.

We may think it is hard, even impossible, to live Christ, but when we are learning the secret of enjoying Christ as our peace offering by practicing to speak with the Lord constantly; then, spontaneously, we will live Christ.

“Those who do not know this secret consider to live Christ a difficult thing. Actually, you just need to practice speaking with the Lord constantly; then spontaneously, you will live Christ” (The Organic Aspect of God’s Salvation, p. 55) (Phil. 1:19-21a). The result of practicing fellowship with God in prayer is that the peace of God, God as peace, is infused into us for our enjoyment as the counterpoise to troubles and the antidote to anxiety so that Christ as our forbearance can be known to all men (4:5-7, 9; 1:20; Rom. 8:6; John 16:33). The secret is speaking to the Lord about everything, and spontaneously, effortlessly, we will live Christ. We need to let our requests be made known to God (Phil. 4:6); this may sound simple, but we may not practice this or apply this.

We need to bring our requests, needs, and problems to the Lord, in His presence, and remain in this living organic union with Him to receive Him as peace and supply. In praying to the Lord we may worship Him and fellowship with Him, and we also may petition Him for particular needs.

Every day we need to have a set time of prayer with the Lord to enjoy communion with Him and practice being in the organic union with Him.

The result of practicing fellowship with God in prayer is that the peace of God is infused into us for our enjoyment; God as peace is infused into us to become the counterpoise to troubles and the antidote to anxiety, so that Christ as our forbearance can be made known to all men (Phil. 4:5-7, 9; 1:20).

The peace of Christ will swallow all our anxiety. As we set our mind on the spirit, we enjoy life and peace (Rom. 8:6); when we mind our spirit and practice being in the organic union with the Lord in spirit, we will have life, peace, harmony, a sense of ease and watering, and brightness inwardly.

The poison of anxiety may still be in us, but we have the peace of God transfused into our being through our fellowship with God in prayer.

Lord Jesus, we want to learn the secret of enjoying Christ as our peace offering by practicing to speak with the Lord about everything. Save us from speaking to man first. Save us from not opening to You about all things. May we daily practice speaking with You, opening to You about the things in our life, talking to You about our problems and anxieties, and giving You all our cares. Lord, it is good for us to draw near to You and to pour out our heart to You, for in this way we can live Christ and magnify Christ!

How wonderful that Paul learned the secret of how to do everything and all things (Phil 4:12). The secret is to do all things in Him (Christ) who empowers us (Phil. 4:13).

O Lord may we learn the rudimentary principles of how to take You as life, how to live You, how to magnify You, how to gain You, and how to have the church life!

It may seem easy to understand Paul’s word, “Let your requests be made known to God” [Phil. 4:6]. But we should not…[assume] that we understand it. I have spent considerable time studying the phrase to God. It may also be rendered “before God” or “in the presence of God.” The Greek preposition is pros, often translated “with” (John 1:1; Mark 9:19; 2 Cor. 5:8; 1 Cor. 16:6; 1 John 1:2). It denotes motion toward, in the sense of a living union and communion, implying fellowship….This requires that we pray to contact God.

In our prayer to God there must be the essence of worship and fellowship, and also petitions for particular needs. Even if we do not have specific needs, we still need a time of prayer day by day to worship the Lord and have fellowship with Him. As we worship the Lord and have fellowship with Him in prayer, we enjoy communion with Him and practice the organic union with Him.

The issue, the result, of practicing the organic union with the Lord is that the peace of God guards our hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:7). The peace of God is actually God as peace (v. 9), infused into us through our fellowship with Him by prayer. This peace is the counterpoise of troubles and the antidote to anxiety (John 16:33)….The poison of anxiety is still within us, but we have an antidote—the peace of God transfused into our being through our fellowship with God in prayer. (Life-study of Philippians, pp. 230-231, by Witness Lee)
