New Jerusalem is a Composition of God’s Chosen People who have been Deified by Him

The New Jerusalem, the ultimate consummation of the Bible, involves God becoming man and man becoming God in life, nature, and expression but not in the Godhead (Rev. 21:2, 9-11; 3:12). Witness Lee

The ultimate consummation of the Bible, the conclusion and highest peak of all of God’s work throughout the ages, is the New Jerusalem. This holy city is not something physical but something spiritual, and if we look at the description of the New Jerusalem we will see that the city involves God and man being mingled, blended, and even incorporated.

The New Jerusalem, the ultimate consummation of the Bible, involves God becoming man and man becoming God in life, nature, and expression but not in the Godhead (see Rev. 21:2, 9-11; 3:12). In His economy, God has stepped out of eternity onto the bridge of time to do a work with man, and the consummation of all the 6000 years of working in and with man is the New Jerusalem, the holy city composed of His Old Testament saints and New Testament believers.

There’s no “spiritual parade” of the top spiritual saints in the Old Testament or the most transformed believers in the New Testament – there is a holy city, New Jerusalem, in which all of God’s people are blended and mingled with God to be one entity! The New Jerusalem is the highest peak, the crystallization, and the consummation of God’s work in and with His people, and this is what God is after.

The New Jerusalem is the full reality of God mingling Himself with man in oneness. It is the universal couple with the husband and the wife – the processed and consummated Triune God is the Husband and the transformed tripartite man is the bride. In this couple the Husband is the wife, and the wife is the Husband – we are one with God and even become God in life and nature, and God is one with us and He is even us.

God is God yet man and man is man yet God, and these two are fully mingled and incorporated together; this is the New Jerusalem, the consummation of the whole Bible. This vision has to be a controlling vision to our Christian life; we need to see and realize that God became man in order to be mingled with man, make His home in man’s heart, transform man, and make man the same as God in life, nature, and expression for the building up of the organism of the Triune God, the Body of Christ, consummating in the New Jerusalem!

New Jerusalem is a Composition of Divinity and Humanity Mingled and Blended Together

The New Jerusalem is a composition of divinity and humanity mingled, blended, and built up together as one entity. God and man, man and God, are built up together by being blended and mingled together; this is a matter of God becoming man and man becoming God in life, nature, and expression but not in the Godhead. Witness LeeThe New Jerusalem, the holy city as the consummation of God’s work in humanity for six thousand years, is not something physical; rather, New Jerusalem is a composition of divinity and humanity mingled, blended, and built up together as one entity (see John 14:20, 23; Rev. 21:9-11).

The New Jerusalem is a building – it is the tabernacle of God for God to dwell in (Rev. 21:3) and the temple of God for all the saints to dwell and serve God in (Rev. 21:22). The New Jerusalem is the mutual dwelling place of God with man.

This building is a composition of human beings: the gates are pearls inscribed with the names of the twelve tribes of Israel (Rev. 21:12) and on the twelve foundations are the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb (Rev. 21:14). The center of the city is God and the Lamb on the throne, the supply of the city is the river of water of life and the tree of life flowing and growing in the middle of the street, the essence of the city is the divine nature of gold, and the universality of the city is the Triune God.

In the New Jerusalem, we see God and man dwelling in one another and being built up together into a miraculous structure of treasure for the corporate expression of God in humanity. All the components have the same life, nature, and constitution, and are thus a corporate person. God and man, man and God, are built up together by being blended and mingled together; this is a matter of God becoming man and man becoming God in life, nature, and expression but not in the Godhead.

In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. John 14:20The Lord Jesus promised that in that day (literally referring to the day of His resurrection but also to that day in the New Jerusalem) we will know that He is the Father, we are in Him, and He is in us (John 14:20).

Throughout the ages God and man have been built into one another and have become One; God was once God but has become a man, and man is becoming God in life and nature through the process of the organic salvation.

God is no longer only God but He is God-man, and man is not just man but man-God; this God-man and this man-God are compatible to be joined and married together.

After a wonderful wedding between the God who became man and the man who became God, we will live an eternal marriage life together as a universal couple, God and man, the finality of the divine romance spoken of in the entire Bible.

Lord, mingle Yourself with us in oneness until we become the same as You in life, nature, and expression for the consummation of the New Jerusalem. Lord, blend us together with You and work Yourself into us until we are built into You and You are built into us for the producing of the mutual dwelling place of God and man. Lord Jesus, we love You Keep us in the divine romance being transformed into Your image until we become You just as You became us to be the universal couple, the Spirit and the Bride, consummating in the New Jerusalem!

New Jerusalem is a Composition of God’s Chosen People who have been Deified by Him

The New Jerusalem is a composition of God’s chosen, redeemed, regenerated, sanctified, renewed, transformed, conformed, and glorified people who have been deified. The Need for a New Revival, Outline 2In the early church age the matter of deification was generally taught to the extent that most believers knew that the issue of their salvation was to become the same as Christ even as He became the same as we are.

But this matter has been lost throughout the ages, and many believers even today have a strong opinion that “oh, you can never say that we are becoming God! This is blasphemy!” It is true that it is blasphemy for us to say that we become God in His Godhead, in His Person, but we are incomplete and inadequate if we don’t speak of man being deified!

In the Lord’s recovery we are being brought back to God’s highest and deepest purpose in the Bible which is that God became man to make man God in life, nature, and expression, but not in the Godhead, so that He may have the Body of Christ consummating in the New Jerusalem.

The New Jerusalem is a composition of God together with His chosen, redeemed, regenerated, sanctified, renewed, transformed, conformed, and glorified people who have been deified (see John 3:6; Heb. 2:11; Rom. 12:2; 8:29-30). Hallelujah, we are now in the process of being deified! To be deified means that we are constituted with the processed and consummated Triune God so that we may be made God in life, nature, and expression to be His corporate expression for eternity (Rev. 21:11).

Unceasingly pray. 1 Thes. 5:17

The Triune God in Christ as the Spirit lives in us and is joined to us as one spirit (1 Cor. 6:17); whenever we exercise our spirit by calling on the name of the Lord, we breathe spiritually and we inhale God. Exercising our spirit is like breathing: we need to breathe all the time, even when we sleep; in a similar way, we need to pray unceasingly (1 Thes. 5:17). We pray unceasingly as we call on the name of the Lord; whether audibly or inwardly, we can call on the name of the Lord and absorb Him, receive Him, and enjoy Him.

As we enjoy the Lord by breathing Him in, we receive the divine substance with the divine essence, the divine element, and the divine expression, and this will cause us to be deified! When we enjoy the Lord, He is making His home in our heart more, and we receive more of the element of God into us; this is what we mean by saying that we’re being deified. Day by day as believers in Christ we are in God’s word, enjoy Him by praying and fellowshipping with Him, and call on His name; in this way, we grow in Him, He grows in us, and more of God is added to us.

This process of growth in the divine life by having the element of God added to us will consummate in the New Jerusalem. The deification of the believers is a process that will consummate in the New Jerusalem; this is the highest truth and the highest gospel. This is what the world is waiting to hear, and this is what satisfies the believers today. No teachings or doctrines can satisfy the heart of genuine Christians who long to hear what is in God’s heart concerning them.

We need to speak the highest truth, the highest gospel, that God became man to make man God so that God would obtain an organism on earth, the Body of Christ, which will ultimately consummate the New Jerusalem!

Today we are in the process of being made a pillar in the temple of our God, and He will write on us the name of our God, the name of the City of our God, and a new name (Rev. 3:12). Bearing the name of our God and of the New Jerusalem means that we are becoming God in life and nature, and others will see this! Oh, may we really see the highest peak of the divine revelation, be filled with the highest gospel and the highest truth, enjoy the many facets of the diamond in the Bible, and pray that we would enter into a God-man living according to such a vision!

Lord Jesus, we pray for a new revival that issues from our seeing the highest peak of the divine revelation. Lord, may the vision of Your economy govern, direct, and control us so that we may be inwardly strengthened and yearn to live a God-man life according to the vision we have seen. Lord, we want to reach the highest peak of the divine revelation! Bring in a new revival in all the local churches on earth today. May we all allow the vision of the high peak of the divine revelation lay hold of us and direct our living until we become the New Jerusalem!

The conclusion of the divine revelation in the Bible is a building, the New Jerusalem. This building is a blending and mingling of divinity with humanity. This is proved by the description of the New Jerusalem in Revelation 21….The New Jerusalem as the tabernacle of God is for God to dwell in, and God and the Lamb as the temple are for the redeemed saints to dwell in [vv. 3, 22]. This indicates that the New Jerusalem will be a mutual dwelling place for God and man. Furthermore, this building is a composition of human beings. The gates are pearls inscribed with the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel (v. 12), and on the twelve foundations are the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb (v. 14). This indicates clearly that the New Jerusalem is a composition of the Triune God, who is the essence, center, and universality, and God’s redeemed people. (Witness Lee, Life-study of 1 & 2 Samuel, pp. 198-199)
