the Revelation of the Lord Jehovah, the Eternal God – seeing God as the Potter

These days we’re going through a series of messages called “The Crystallization study of the book of Isaiah”, and the subject of the second message is the Revelation of the Lord Jehovah, the Eternal God. Here is a little enjoyment from this message by sister Maria.

Among such marvelous revelations of the Lord Jehovah in the book of Isaiah such as Elohey Olam, the ever-living, secret, mysterious One, as the only God and unique Creator, the holy and righteous One, as the hiding God, as the Husband, as our Salvation, as our living water, there is also in Isaiah 29 and 64 the revelation of the Lord Jehovah as the Potter. Yes, the Potter.

In Romans 9:20-21 Paul writes:

But rather, O man, who are you who answer back to God? Shall the thing molded say to him who molded it, Why did you make me thus? Or does not the potter have authority over the clay to make out of the same lump one vessel unto honor and another unto dishonor?

This revelation of the Lord Jehovah as the Potter really was such a precious point to me. Of course it is “easy” to accept that the Lord is our salvation, our living water and our Husband. These are sweet and tender, juicy points that make us feel warm and cuddly and loved.

But we cannot ignore or even negate the Lord’s word because of our preference. So, this word about God as the Potter was so touching because through this revelation we can see the authority the Lord has over us.

This is a matter that we must settle with the Lord. We need to realize His absolute control and sovereignty over ever person, matter and thing related to us, and even over every part of our being.

When we realize this, when we get to the point, when we see that He does not need our permission to do as He pleases – when we really see this then we can respond to Him with a meaningful consecration. Not a “microphone” consecration, not a consecration in which we make promises to the Lord regarding our actions, but a consecration where we say to Him:

You are the Potter, I am the clay. Lord, I place myself body, soul, and spirit into Your wise hands. Lord, though there are so many things that I don’t understand, You are the Potter, You are right, and You are righteous. Amen, Lord.

Wow. That was an awesome point. O Lord, grant us the vision of You as the Potter.

Here is the "song version" of this post, made by brother David B, tune: Make me a captive, Lord – http://www.hymnal.net/hymn.php/h/422

1) The ever-living One,
Secret, mysterious One,
The only God, unique Creator,
Holy, righteous One,
And as the hiding God,
as Husband, our Salvation,
Our living water, then revealed–
The Potter, Jehovah!

2) This revelation, shown:
Jehovah as the Potter.
We cant ignore, negate the Lord’s word
Because of our pref'rence.
God as the Potter's rich–
Through this revelation
We can see the authority
The Lord has over us.

3) This is a matter that we —
Must settle with the Lord.
We need to realize His absolute
Control and sovereignty
O'er every person, thing–
Matter related to us,
And even over every part
Of our being.

4) We would just realize–
We'd see that He does not need
Our permission to do as He pleases –
We'd respond to Him with–
Cons'cration, meaningful–
Not "promises" to the Lord–
But consecration, we'd open–
To Him, with such words:

5) You are the Potter, Lord–
I realize— I'm the clay.
I place myself, body, soul, spirit–
Into Your wise hands.
Lord, though there're many things
That I don’t understand,
You are the Potter, You are right,
You are righteous. Amen.

Praise the Lord. I am so grateful and thank the Lord for you are the stewards of the varied grace of God. You always minister to the members of the Body, I am one of them. Praise the Lord. I posted this on my wall to dispense this to other saints. I hope this is ok. ~~The blessing soul will prosper, And he who waters will also be watered himself.~~Proverbs 11:25
