The Triune God as the Anointing within is Teaching us Concerning Himself Subjectively

According to the Bible, the Triune God is teaching us concerning Himself in a subjective and experiential way all the time as the anointing within us.

Praise the Lord, all the genuine believers in Christ have the anointing from the Holy One, and we all are being taught inwardly in a subjective way concerning the Triune God and His indwelling in us!

In 1 John 2:27, after the Apostle John exposes who the antichrists were and what they say, we are told that we don’t need to be taught by anyone because we have the anointing from the Holy One, and this anointing teaches us concerning all things. The teaching of the anointing, according to the context of this verse, is a matter of teaching us concerning the Divine Trinity.

Throughout the ages many believers in Christ have argued concerning the Triune God: some say that He is three – the Father, the Son, and the Spirit – and distinct and separate, others say that He is One yet in three stages, while others say that He is just One and that’s it.

The subject of the Triune God is a very complex and complicated matter, but praise the Lord, we have the inner anointing which teaches us all things concerning the Son being one with the Father, Christ being one with God, and the eternal life being one with the Father and the Son.

The anointing which is in us is the compound Spirit – the consummation of the processed Triune God including God, man, divinity, Christ’s humanity, His human living, His death, His resurrection, and His ascension.

This compound ointment – which is typified by the compounded holy ointment that anointed all the furnishings and elements of the tabernacle, see Exo. 30:23-25 – is now in us, anointing us by “painting us” with all the elements of the Triune God in His person and His activities, so that we may not merely “understand” the Triune God but know the Triune God in a subjective way and realize that the Father is in the Son, the Son is the Father, the Son is the Spirit, and the Son is the eternal life. Wow!

This is mysterious, wonderful, and at the same time confusing: and it is right to be confusing, since such matters are not merely for our mind to understand but for our prayerful consideration so that our spirit may feed on God, be anointed with God’s elements, and we may grow in the divine life a little more for God’s building today, the church as the Body of Christ!

The Triune God is Teaching us Concerning Himself Subjectively and Experientially

Day by day as we are in the organic union with the Triune God, we enjoy Him, we experience Him, and we live in Him, with Him, and by Him; this living is a constant teaching of the things concerning the Triune God. Witness Lee

The Triune God, who is now organically one with us, is teaching us concerning Himself subjectively and experientially; the anointing is the moving of the Triune God becoming our inward enjoyment and experience. Crystallization-Study of Exodus (3), outline 11

Wow! How are being taught concerning the Triune God? It is by Him being organically one with us to subjectively and experientially teach us concerning Himself.

When we are a young Christian, we may ask the Lord for more peace, more joy, more power, and more grace, and we enjoyed many things that God gave us. But as we grow in the divine life, we enjoy God not for what He gives us but for what He is. God Himself is our enjoyment, and we want to know Him and experience Him.

A. B. Simpson put it very well in one of his songs, saying,

Once it was the blessing,
Now it is the Lord;
Once it was the feeling,
Now it is His Word;
Once His gift I wanted,
Now, the Giver own;
Once I sought for healing,
Now Himself alone. (Hymns #513)

As the anointing in our spirit, the Triune God is organically joined to us and one with us (1 Cor. 6:17; 1 John 2:27), constantly anointing us to subjectively teach us concerning Himself and cause us to enjoy Him inwardly. Brother Lee wrote a wonderful song on this matter, Hymns #266, which says,

3. With God’s own essence it anoints me,
God to know subjectively,
That I may have His very element
Fully saturating me.
4. ’Tis by this inner life-anointing
I in fellowship may move;
In God, the light of truth, I’m walking,
And the love of grace I prove.

Day by day, as we are in this organic union with the Lord, we enjoy Him, we experience Him, we live in Him, with Him, and by Him, and we subjectively know Him as the Father, the Son, the Spirit, and the eternal life – one Triune God for our enjoyment and experience.

As we live Christ and experience Him, we are constantly being taught of the things concerning the Triune God. We have no need for someone to come and teach us concerning the Triune God: we have the inward anointing, and this anointing from the Holy One teaches us all things!

Lord, how wonderful it is to have a personal relationship with You and abide in this organic union with You to be inwardly taught by You concerning the Triune God! We open to Your moving and working within us; anoint us more with all the elements of the Triune God, and be our inward enjoyment and experience day by day! Lord, keep us in the organic union with You to enjoy You, experience You, and live in You, with You, and by You! Oh, Praise the Lord, the anointing lives in us to teach us all things concerning the Triune God!

The Anointing is the Moving and Working of the Truth, the Reality of the Divine Trinity

1 John 2:20-23 And you have an anointing from the Holy One....I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it and because no lie is of the truth. Who is the liar if not he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. Everyone who denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who confesses the Son has the Father also.In 1 John 2:20 it says that we have the anointing, and in v. 21 we know the truth; actually, the anointing is the moving and working of the truth, which truth is the reality of the Divine Trinity (especially of the person of Christ). The apostle John was writing concerning the anointing, then he says “you know the truth”, and he continues to speak of the Father, the Son, and the eternal life.

According to verse 22, to deny that Jesus is the Christ is to deny the Father and the Son; this indicates strongly that Jesus, Christ, the Father, and the Son are one – and all these are the elements, the ingredients, of the all-inclusive compound indwelling Spirit, who is now anointing our inner being all the time!

The most basic statement concerning the Triune God and the most advanced and deep statement concerning the Triune God is that the Father, the Son, and the Spirit are one.

The fact that to deny Jesus being the Christ equals denying the Father and the Son implies the thought that Jesus, Christ, the Father, and the Son are all one, all of whom are the elements, the ingredients, of the all-inclusive compound indwelling Spirit, who is now anointing the believers all the time. In this anointing, Jesus, Christ, the Father, and the Son are all anointed into our inner being. Witness LeeIn the anointing we have a compound, a mingling, a blending of Jesus, Christ, the Father, the Son, and eternal life; all these are blended together, moving in us to inwardly teach us concerning the Triune God.

When it says that the anointing teaches us concerning all things, this doesn’t refer to how to comb our hair, how to manage our money, or how to take care of our family, but strictly speaking it refers to the Father, the Son, and eternal life.

According to our experience of the inner anointing, we can testify that Jesus Christ, the Father God, the Son of God, and eternal life are all in us, and we cannot and should not divide them. We don’t need to consult a pastor, a reverend, a Bible teacher, or a theologian about it: we simply need to pay attention to the teaching of the inward anointing!

The anointing is the moving and working of the truth, which is the reality of the Divine Trinity. 1 John 2:23 says, Everyone who denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who confesses the Son has the Father also” – since the Son and the Father are one and inseparable (see Isa. 9:6; John 10:30; 14:7-11), to deny the Son is to be without the Father, and to confess the Son is to have the Father.

We agree, there is a distinction between the Father and the Son, but they are one and inseparable. We have every right to say that, based upon the Bible, the Son is the Father, and the Son is the Spirit. Christ the Son of God is not just “identified” with the Spirit or “similar” to the Spirit – Christ became a life-giving Spirit, and today the Lord is the Spirit.

Oh, if we pay attention to the anointing within and allow it to teach us all things, we will have the moving and working of the truth in us, and we will have the reality of the Divine Trinity dispensed into us to make us persons of reality, persons of truth!

Lord Jesus, we want to pay attention to the inward anointing, allowing it to teach us all things concerning the Triune God. Thank You for the moving and working of the truth in our being to dispense and bring us into the reality of the Divine Trinity. Lord, we praise You that in our spirit we have the anointing, and thus we have the Father, the Son, God, Christ, and eternal life! Hallelujah, the anointing today is compounded with Jesus, Christ, the Father, the Son and eternal life, and this anointing brings into us the reality of the Divine Trinity!

In 1 John 2:21 John says, “I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it and because no lie is of the truth.” In this verse the word truth is used twice. If we consider verses 20 and 21 together, we shall realize that the anointing surely must have something to do with the truth. Verse 20 says that we have an anointing, and verse 21 says that we know the truth. In this verse the truth is closely related to the anointing. Actually the anointing is the moving and working of the truth, which is the reality of the Divine Trinity, especially of the Person of Christ (vv. 22-25). (Witness Lee, Life-study of 1 John, p. 185)
