We know the True One by Enjoying the Divine Reality and by being One with Him

Eph. 1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the full knowledge of Him.All true seeking ones of God desire to know Him in a personal and subjective way, and as believers in Christ we know the True One – the divine reality – by experiencing, enjoying, and possessing this reality.

Moses yearned and prayed that he would know God’s ways so that he may know Him; his prayer was answered and he knew God Himself and His ways, and he not only feared God and worshipped Him but was a co-worker with God, faithful to Him over all His house.

However, we today as those regenerated by God have a greater privilege: we can know not only God’s ways (how He operates outwardly for the fulfilment of His purpose) but we can know God Himself inwardly, personally, and subjectively by means of the eternal life.

The best and deepest way to know God is not only outwardly in His ways but inwardly in what He is. This knowledge of God is organic: we know God by having His life in us and by exercising our spirit to walk according to the spirit, listen to the teaching of the anointing, obey the inner sense of life, have our mind enlightened and our spirit enlivened, and follow the Spirit’s leading.

As those under the new covenant, we have God’s laws written on our heart and mind; now His law and the essence of His being is inscribed on us, and we are constituted with God intrinsically and inwardly.

All we have to do is make sure we grow in life, maintain the divine life, and allow this life to spread in us and live in us. In the divine life within us there’s a law, a spontaneous operating principle that causes us to know God inwardly and shapes us into the image of Christ automatically, as long as we allow this life to operate in us.

We also have the teaching of the anointing, and we don’t need that anyone teach us to outwardly know God because we inwardly and subjectively know God by having His life and the anointing leading us to abide in Him (1 John 2:27).

We are so privileged to know God inwardly and subjectively today; we can know Him deeper and to a higher extent than Moses did, for we have His life and we can know His nature!

We Know the True One by Experiencing, Enjoying, and Possessing the Divine Reality

1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding that we might know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.In 1 John 5:20 we are told that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, has come and has given us an understanding so that we might know the True One, the genuine and real God.

When we were regenerated, our spirit was enlivened and quickened, and our mind was enlightened and empowered by the Spirit of reality to apprehend the divine reality in our mingled spirit (Eph. 4:23; John 16:12-15).

“The true One” in Greek is, the True, the Real. God is not only outward, up in the heavens, or distantly working on us to fulfill His purpose, but He becomes a profound personal reality to us.

We no longer have a second-hand knowledge of God; we know that the Son of God has come and has given us a spiritual understanding from the divine life, and we know Him who is True.

There’s a thirst in us for what is real, and we want to know what reality is so that we may also be made real and genuine. By means of the divine life, we know Him and we are in Him who is true; we are immersed in Him, we are sinking deeper into Him who is the divine reality.

The way God wants us to know Him is not mentally or in doctrine; He wants us to know Him in our regenerated spirit through our renewed mind enlightened by the Spirit of reality (John 17:3; Eph. 1:17).

Because our mind has been enlightened, our spirit has been enlivened, and the Spirit of reality dwells in us, we have the ability to know God, the ability to experience, enjoy, and possess the True One.

The whole world lies in the lap of the evil one, full of darkness, delusion, and deception, but we as believers in Christ, are in the True One, and we know Him who is true!

The True One refers to God becoming subjective to us, the God who is objective becoming the true One in our life and experience. The True One is the divine reality; to know the True One means to know the divine reality by experiencing, enjoying, and possessing this reality.

The Son of God has come through incarnation and through death and resurrection and has given us an understanding, the ability to know the true God. This understanding includes our enlightened mind, our quickened spirit, and the revealing Holy Spirit. Because our mind has been enlightened, our spirit has been enlivened, and the Spirit of reality dwells in us, we have the ability to know God, the ability to experience, enjoy, and possess the true One. Witness LeeEverywhere around us in the world we see lies, deceit, corruption, and evil, but through God’s word we can see that God is the true One, the True, and He is not merely in the third heavens but He is in our spirit to bring the divine reality into us. Hallelujah, we have the privilege to know the true One by experiencing, enjoying, and possessing the divine reality!

Whenever we touch the Lord in our mingled spirit, we enjoy the divine reality and we are made real, genuine, and true; whenever we are apart from our organic union with the Lord in our spirit we are not genuine and true.

May we learn to turn to our spirit and allow the divine reality to saturate us so that we may know the True One by enjoying Him, experiencing Him, and possessing Him.

May we realize that, by means of the divine life in our spirit which spreads into our soul to saturate our entire being, we can know the True One and we can be in the true.

Christ has come to give us an understanding that we might know Him who is true; apart from Him, we are not, but in Him, we are true, genuine, and truthful, and everything we do and say when we are in Him is in truthfulness and reality.

Lord, we thirst for the truth, the reality, which can be found only in the True One. Thank You for coming into us to give us a spiritual understanding that we may know the True One, the Real One. May we sink deeper into Him who is the divine reality, and may we be led by the Spirit into all the reality of all that God is and has done. Lord, may God be no longer objective and distant to us but subjective in our life and experience so that we may experience, enjoy, and possess the divine reality!

We have the Ability to Know Him as the Genuine God and be One with Him in Christ

“This is the true God” in 1 John 5:20 refers to the God who has come through incarnation and has given us the ability to know Him as the genuine God and be one with Him organically in His Son Jesus Christ.

Today we can experience something that Moses couldn’t experience: he could only see God’s ways and know something of God’s heart, but we have the Son of God coming as the Spirit into our spirit to give us a subjective knowledge of God that we might know the True One, and right now we are in the divine reality!

The more we abide in the Lord by listening to the teaching of the anointing within, the more we sink into Him, are enveloped and saturated by Him, and we know Him!

When we know God in such a subjective and intrinsic way, we may look back on some of the things He did in our life and thank Him, praise Him, and worship Him in the organic union.

We not only know the true God; we are also in Him. We not only have the knowledge of Him; we are in an organic union with Him. We are one with Him organically. When John says that we are in the true One, he is making a crucial point. Not only do we know the true One, and not only do we experience, enjoy, and possess Him as the reality, but we are in this reality. We are in the true One. Witness Lee, Life-Study of 1 John

We not only know the true God; we are also in Him. We not only have the knowledge of Him; we are in an organic union with Him. We are one with Him organically. Witness LeeHow can we know God? It is not merely by hearing about Him or even by enjoying Him but by being in Him and by being one with Him in the organic union with Christ. This is beyond the understanding of our limited mind: this is something for our prayerful consideration with the exercise of our spirit.

On the one hand Christ has come into us as the Spirit to be the divine reality for us to enjoy; on the other hand, we are in God, the true One, by being organically joined to Him.

The genuine and real God is eternal life to us so that we may partake of Him as everything for our regenerated being in our organic union with Him. In this mutual abiding – we abide in God and God abides in us – we enjoy all that God is as reality for us to experience, possess, and express.

Religion teaches us how to worship God and know Him outwardly, but the Bible shows us how to know God inwardly by being organically joined to Him and having Him be in us as we are in Him.

The way we know God is by being in Him and Him being in us; in this organic union with God we can know Him subjectively and we can enjoy all that He is to us. As we abide in the Lord and let Him abide in us, we enjoy and express the divine reality.

In our daily life with all its activities and things we need to learn to abide in the Lord and remain in the organic union with Him so that we may know Him as the genuine God and thus be filled with the divine reality and express the divine reality. Our destiny is to be fully one with God and live out the divine reality as our testimony.

Lord Jesus, thank You for coming to give us an understanding that we may know God as the genuine and true One. Thank You for bringing us into an organic union with You in our spirit. Lord, we choose to abide in You today so that You may abide in us and we may live in the organic union with You. May we enjoy and be filled with the divine reality so that we may express and live out the divine reality in the organic union with God. Lord, thank You for everything You’re bringing us through in order to work the divine reality into our being!

In 1 John 5:20 John speaks of knowing the true One. Here the word know actually means experience, enjoy, and possess. Therefore, to know the true One is to experience, enjoy, and possess the true One. In this universe only God Himself is the true One.

This Epistle reveals clearly that we have received the divine life, for we have been born of Him. Just as a child can know his father because he has the father’s life, so we can know God because we have God’s life. Having the divine life, we have the ability to know God. Because we have the life of God, we are able to experience God, enjoy God, and possess God. (Life-study of 1 John, p. 350, by W. Lee)

Amen we can know God in a subjective inward way. It’s not by outward teaching but the abiding Life-Giving Spirit in our spirit. Lord Jesus keep us turning to You.

A very good song on this matter is Hymns #426, http://www.witness-lee-hymns.org/hymns/H0426.html

1 Remove my covering, Lord,
That I may see Thy light,
And be deceived no more,
But all things see aright.
Chorus
Oh, may Thy living light, Lord,
Scatter all my night, Lord,
And everything make bright, Lord,
For this I pray to Thee.
2 I hardly know myself;
Deceived so much by pride,
I often think I’m right
And am self-satisfied.
3 I know Thee even less;
In doctrine, shallowly;
True revelation lack
Of Thy reality.
4 As for Thy life within,
In darkness I mistake-
If spirit or the flesh,
One for the other take.
5 As for Thy way, O Lord,
I often am not clear;
I toward seclusion tend
And from the pathway veer.
6 As for Thy will for me,
I do not know it well;
I substitute my own
And often would rebel.
7 As for the church, I need
Thy revelation more,
The Body-life to know,
Thy wisdom to explore.
8 I long to be unveiled,
In everything made clear,
No more to be deceived
Or to my pride adhere.

Here are some saints singing it…
