Christ is Meek and we have the Meekness of Christ: the Meek will Inherit the Earth

But I myself, Paul, entreat you through the meekness and gentleness of Christ... 2 Cor. 10:1

The Lord Jesus is meek and lowly in heart, and we can have the meekness of Christ, which is in His humanity and by the divine life, for us to be those who are meek; those who are meek will inherit the earth – may the Lord make us the meek ones today!

Amen, Lord, make us those who are meek! May we be poor in spirit, mourning over the situation today, and meek toward others! May we learn from You, for You are meek and lowly in heart. May we allow You as the meek One to be lived out in us. Amen, Lord, live in us today the meekness of Christ! We love You, Lord! Amen!

The matter of being meek contradicts the attitude and way of living of people today. If you want to obtain something today, you need to fight for it, and the more you fight and struggle, the more you get.

When a country is meek or when a people is meek, they are being taken advantage of, they are being conquered, and they are assimilated into another country.

Because the whole world lies in the evil one, who wants to usurp everyone and seeks to fight and rebel all the time, by their very nature, people fight, struggle, and are not meek.

But we as kingdom people, the people of the kingdom of the heavens, need to be meek. Toward other people, we are meek, toward the enemy, we fight.

We realise that there’s an enemy, and we do not fight people or circumstances but we fight against Satan and his kingdom of darkness.

In this age, we suffer persecution and opposition, for we seek a better kingdom.

We are not of this world. We do not belong to this world. Our home is not here. Our kingdom is not on this earth.

We have been captivated by the Lord Jesus, we learn to live by the divine life in our spirit, and the kingdom we seek is spiritual, with the Lord, and in the Lord.

Because we love the Lord and we freshly open to Him, freshly empty ourselves before Him, and are freshly filled with Him, we realise that today’s situation in the world, in the church, and even in our own being, is not up to God’s standard.

So we mourn over this situation and we pray one with the Lord for His kingdom to come and His will to be done.

When we meet others, we are meek toward them, for we don’t fight against any person or thing but against Satan and his kingdom.

The Lord promises that, if we’re meek in this age, if we are willing to suffer the world’s opposition in this age, we will inherit the earth in the coming age. Amen, Lord, make us the meek ones in this age!

Christ is Meek in Heart and we can have the Meekness of Christ, for He lives in us!

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matt. 11:29

The Lord Jesus didn’t just say that we should be meek in heart; He also said that He Himself is meek in heart (Matt. 11:29).

In these two verses in Matthew 11, the Lord calls all those who labour and are heavy laden to come to Him and rest, even to put His yoke upon them, for His burden is light and His yoke is easy, and He is meek and lowly in heart.

We learn to be meek because we have a yoke upon us like the Lord Jesus did when He came to the earth.

For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think, but to think so as to be sober-minded, as God has apportioned to each a measure of faith. Rom. 12:3What was the yoke that the Lord had upon Him on the earth? It was the Father’s will.

The people around Him could say this and do that, but the Lord could not say what they said, nor could He do what they did, for He had a restriction upon Him: the Father’s will was the yoke.

Now He asks us to come and learn from Him, even to take His yoke upon us, for He is meek and lowly in heart, and He will give us rest for our souls.

When the Lord Jesus faced opposition, He was always meek.

In 2 Corinthians 10:1 Paul speaks of the meekness of Christ. Paul entreated the Corinthian believers with the meekness of Christ. Christ not only is meek; He is meekness.

Meekness not only belongs to Christ; Christ is meekness. Strictly speaking, meekness is an aspect of virtue, for it is a human virtue. However, Paul speaks of the meekness of Christ.

Paul was dealing with many problems among the Corinthians, one of which was that they were suspicious of Paul, thinking that he took advantage of them, even stealing from them.

The apostle Paul, as he was labouring over these saints, came to them not with an iron rod to deal with them but with the meekness of Christ.

He entreated them with the meekness of Christ; he didn’t want to argue or debate wth them, but was meek toward them.

In our serving life, as we care for others in the Lord and in the church life, when we see conflict, we should not pull out our sword to fight or our rod to discipline; we need to exercise the meekness of Christ.

Meekness is a virtue of the humanity of Christ by the divine life. This means that, as believers in Christ having the divine life in our spirit, we have meekness in our spirit and we can have the meekness of Christ when we live by the divine life.

Christ’s meekness is not a simple matter, for it is in His humanity and by the divine life.

If we look at the Lord’s life, when He was on the earth, He lived a human life by the divine life. Through this mingling of divinity and humanity, the virtue of meekness was manifested.

The meekness of Christ is an expression that comes out of the mingling of divinity with humanity.

In Matthew 21:1-11 we see the meekness of Christ; this is seen in the way He entered into Jerusalem. The Lord was meek and mounted on a donkey, and on a colt, a foal of a beast of burden (v. 5).

He didn’t enter into Jerusalem on a mighty horse or a victorious chariot; He was meek and rode on a donkey, even on a colt.

He is the Son of God, the One in whom all God’s fullness dwells; He is the impress of God’s substance. Yet He came among His people in a lowly way, in a meek way, as if He were the lowest of all the people.

Christ, the heavenly King, didn’t come with haughty splendour but with gentle, humble meekness. He didn’t come to fight but to be a meek King. This is not what we see among the kings and leaders today.

All the kings, emperors, presidents, and great leaders like to exert their power and influence upon people to impress them. But the Lord Jesus came in a lowly way.

"Say to the daughter of Zion, Behold, your King is coming to you, meek and mounted on a donkey, and on a colt, a foal of a beast of burden." Matt. 21:5In the church life, we need to realise that we are all nothing, we have nothing, and we can do nothing; only Christ is the King and the Head, and we are under His headship.

Oftentimes, the saints run into conflict with us because we are too proud.

We may assume certain things about ourselves, we may think of ourselves more highly than we ought to think, and we are not meek; therefore, conflict arises.

May the Lord have mercy on us and grant us a spirit of meekness as we live the Christian life and the church life.

May we turn to the meek One in our spirit and allow Him to be expressed through us so that we have the meekness of Christ as our virtue in our daily living.

May we learn to live by the divine life and express the humanity of Christ so that we may have the meekness of Christ.

When we serve in the church life, may we learn to serve with a spirit of meekness, even in all lowliness and meekness. The Lord can do this in us.

Lord Jesus, we come to You, for You are meek and lowly in heart. Thank You, Lord, for always being meek when You were on the earth. Hallelujah, meekness is a virtue of the humanity of Christ by the divine life. May we see this, Lord, and may we learn to turn to our spirit so that we may live by the divine life. Oh Lord, may we be those who are meek, those who have the meekness of Christ. We come to You with all our struggles, our problems, and our desires; we want to learn from You, for You are meek and lowly in heart. Thank You for coming as the heavenly King, not with haughty splendour but with gentle, humble meekness. Thank You for being in us today as our life. We take You as our life and person. We want to live one spirit with You. Oh Lord, may we have a spirit of meekness as we live the Christian life and church life today. Save us from thinking of ourselves more highly than we ought to think. Be expressed through us as meekness today!

Those who are Meek will Inherit the Earth: being Willing to Suffer and Lose Something in this Age to Inherit the Earth in the Next

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Matt. 5:5

The Lord Jesus said that those who are meek will inherit the earth; if we today are sorrowful and mourning, being emptied in spirit and mourning over the current situation, we will surely be meek (Matt. 5:3-5).

If we are meek, if we today live out the meekness of Christ, we will inherit the earth. According to Luke 19, some will inherit ten cities and others five cities.

Today, however, we are not here to inherit the earth right now; today we need to live in the reality of the kingdom of the heavens, being poor in spirit, mourning over the situation, and being meek, and in the coming age, we will inherit the earth.

To be meek in particular means that we are willing to suffer and lose something for the Lord’s sake.

A person who is poor in spirit, who hungers and thirsts for God, and who mourns, is also meek; such a one seeks the kingdom of God, and he wants to be one with the Lord in all things.

A meek person does not resist someone who wants to hurt him or take things from him.

Rather, as the Lord said in Matthew 5:39-41, a meek person turns the other cheek when he is slapped, yields his cloak to him who wants to take his tunic, and goes two miles with the one who compels him to go one mile.

This is not us in our natural man; rather, in our natural man, we fight, we struggle, we demand our rights, and we hold on to what we have.

We can be meek and have the meekness of Christ only when we live by the divine life, the heavenly life of the kingdom people in our spirit.

God created us to inherit, enjoy, and rule over the earth, but this earth has been usurped and ruined by Satan.

Today, those who are stronger and better at contending gain more of the earth.

We, as people who live under the rule of the heavens, do not contend nor do we resist others, and we do not inherit the earth in this age.

Others may even take what we have, and they may take advantage of us, in their eyes. But if we are meek in this age, we will inherit the earth in the coming kingdom.

We are not here to contend for the earth right now; we want the Lord’s kingdom to come and His will to be done, but we will inherit the earth in the coming age and for eternity, not in this age.

If we today live in the reality of the kingdom of the heavens and partake in the kingdom, we will inherit the kingdom of God (1 Cor. 6:9a, 10b; Gal. 5:21b; Eph. 5:5b).

To inherit the kingdom of God is different from entering into the kingdom of God through regeneration.

When we believed into the Lord Jesus, we entered into the kingdom of God, for we were born into the kingdom of God as a realm of the divine life.

But I tell you not to resist him who is evil; rather whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also. And to him who wishes to sue you and take your tunic, yield to him your cloak also; And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. Matt. 5:39-41But inheriting the kingdom is different. Having entered into the kingdom of God by being regenerated, we now need to grow and develop in the divine life.

As a result of this growth and development, we will be meek, having the meekness of Christ, and we will inherit the earth.

We can’t inherit the kingdom of God unless we grow to maturity in the proper development in the divine life.

Today we as the Lord’s followers, the citizens of the kingdom of the heavens, are willing to forsake the present world, even our own soulish enjoyment of this world, for the Lord’s sake, for we want to inherit the earth when the Lord returns, in the coming age.

Because we are poor in spirit, seeking God, and mourning over the present situation, realising that we have not gained enough God and we’re not under God’s rule, we are meek, and we regard this earth as nothing, even as dung.

When others want to take things from us and cause us to lose something, we do not resist them. We forsake the present world, for we want to inherit the kingdom! Amen!

Lord Jesus, thank You for regenerating us with Your life for us to be part of the kingdom of God. Praise the Lord, we have been born of God to be citizens of the kingdom of God, part of the realm of God’s life. May we grow in life today. May Your divine life in us grow and develop unto maturity in this age so that we may inherit the kingdom of God! Amen, Lord, we exercise ourselves to live in the reality of the kingdom of the heavens in the church life today so that we may be rewarded with its manifestation in the coming age! We love You, Lord, we open to You, and we seek the kingdom of the heavens. We forsake the present world, we do not resist those who oppose us and who want to take things from us, and we choose to live by the divine life! Amen, Lord, may we be the meek ones today, for the meek will inherit the earth! Oh, Lord, our inheritance is not here: it is in the coming age, when we inherit the kingdom of God! Keep us in our spirit today! Make us those who are meek today!

The Lord promised that the meek will inherit the earth. After the fall of man, people must contend with one another in order to inherit the physical earth. Those who are stronger and better at contending gain more of the earth. A person who lives under the rule of the heavens and who does not contend or resist will not inherit the earth today. Others will take even what he has. However, the Lord said that those who live under the rule of the heavens neither contend nor resist but will inherit the earth. According to Hebrews 2, God in His ordination did not subject the coming world to angels but to man (vv. 5-7). Those who inherit the earth in the coming kingdom will not be the ones who are contending for earthly things today, nor will they be resistant; instead, they will be meek. They will not gain by contending but by inheriting. The words the earth in Matthew 5:5 do not refer to the world with its material enjoyment. People do not seek the kingdom of the heavens today, because they are occupied by the world. Someone who is poor in spirit and seeks God mourns because he has not gained enough God and because he is not under God’s rule. As a result, he regards the earth in this age as dung. He does not contend with or resist the people of the world, because he does not want the world. The Lord’s promise in this verse shows that in order to inherit the coming earth, we must forsake the present world.

Meekness is like the flax bumper on the side of the steamer boats. When a steamer comes close to the pier, if there is nothing between the hard boards of the boat and the hard poles of the pier, one of the two will break. But if flax bumpers are placed in between them, both will hit the bumpers only, and nothing will break…This is meekness. If both sides are hard, neither side should touch the other. But if something soft is put between them, both sides will be preserved…The Lord said that He is meek. This means that He can withstand any bumping…Being meek is being changeable; it means taking what God wants you to take. It means being satisfied when you have something and being equally satisfied when you do not have something. When you have it, you can sing hallelujah and praise the Lord. When you do not have it, you can also sing hallelujah and praise the Lord.

We need to come to the Lord as the One who is meek and lowly in heart. As we contact Him and live by the divine life, we will have the meekness of Christ.

This means that we will not resist those who oppose us and we let others take things from us. We are not here for this world, rather, we forsake this world for the Lord’s sake.

Oh Lord Jesus, keep us contacting You today. Live in us. May we be the meek ones, those who have the meekness of Christ. Oh, Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth!

Amen brother. We should mourn because we and others have not gained enough of God and are not under God’s rule.

Our Christ is meek, humble, lowly, willing to suffer, and happy to lose something.

We need to be willing to take only what God wants us to take and not contend for more.

In order to inherit the coming Earth, we must forsake the present world.

May Christ live in us and be a light through us.

Dear brother, to be meek is to forsake the present earth, not resisting the opposition or contending for earthly things.

If we are poor in spirit and mourn over our not gaining God or coming under God’s rule we will be meek.

This is to live out Christ the meek and lowly one, His humanity being mingled with divinity expressed through such virtues.

Lord, keep us coming to You that we may take Your yoke, and learn from You to be infused with Your meekness and gentleness that we may inherit the earth in the coming Kingdom of God! Amen. Lord keep us coming to You to be meek and lowly in heart.

To be meek is to be mild toward men, without resisting or disputing. This indicates that the apostle, being firmly attached to Christ (2 Cor. 1:21) and being one with Him, lived by Him, behaving in His virtues. 2 Cor. 10:1 footnote 2 on, meekness.

To be meek, or gentle, means not to resist opposition, and to be lowly means not to have self-esteem. Throughout all the opposition the Lord was meek, and throughout all the rejection He was lowly in heart. He submitted Himself fully to the will of His Father, not wanting to do anything for Himself or expecting to gain something for Himself. Hence, regardless of the situation He had rest in His heart; He was fully satisfied with His Father’s will. Matt. 11:29 footnote 3 on, meek and lowly in heart.

Dear brother, To be meek not only means to be humble and lowly but also to be willing to suffer and to lose something. Someone who is poor in spirit and seeks God mourns because he has not gained enough God and because he is not under God’s rule.

Being meek is being changeable; it means taking what God wants you to take. It means being satisfied when you have something and being equally satisfied when you do not have something.

When you have it, you can sing hallelujah and praise the Lord. When you do not have it, you can also sing hallelujah and praise the Lord.

Oh Lord, make us the same as You!
