God’s Will is Concentrated in Christ: He wants us to Enjoy and Experience Christ!

...This is My Son, the Beloved, in whom I have found My delight. Hear Him! Matt. 17:5

The will of God is concentrated in Christ and is for Christ, for Christ is everything in the will of God – He’s the centrality and universality of God’s economy, and God desires for this Christ to be everything to us.

Lord Jesus, we want to enjoy You, know You, experience You, and be filled with You. Become our centre and reality. Become our everything in our daily life. Amen, Lord, may You be so real to us. Unveil us to see that God’s will is concentrated in Christ and is for Christ! Hallelujah for the wonderful, all-inclusive Christ! Amen!

The book of Colossians is a book on the will of God. We need to be filled with the full knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding (Col. 1:9).

What is the will of God? Revelation 4:11 tells us that all things are and were created for the will of God. We are here for God’s will.

We are not here to try to accomplish something meaningful in our life, nor are we here to do great works for God; we are here for the will of God.

We need to see what is the will of God. In Ephesians we see that God has a will, a heart’s desire, and an intention, and according to this will that was hidden in His heart, He made an economy to head up all things in Christ!

God wants to head up all things in Christ so that Christ may have the first place in all things.

He does this first in the church; He heads us up in Christ, making Christ our everything, and then through the church, He will head up all things in Christ.

The will of God is something eternal; it is not just the will of God for our life, for our family, or even for our country.

We need all spiritual wisdom and understanding in order to have the full knowledge of the will of God.

May the Lord comfort our hearts, even knit us together in love and unto all the riches of the full assurance of understanding, unto the full knowledge of the mystery of God, Christ.

The will of God is focused and concentrated in Christ, and we need to know Christ in order to know the will of God.

On the one hand, we need to seek the will of God concerning our life, our future, our job, our spouse, what we should do, where should we go, etc. But on the other hand, we need to know the will of God concerning Christ.

This means that we need to have full knowledge and all spiritual wisdom and understanding!

What is the will of God according to His desire, His intention, in the whole universe?

What is His will in His creation, in His redemption, in the coming age, and in eternity?

The answer, as seen in the book of Colossians, is Christ Himself. We need to know Christ. We need to be renewed in our mind and see Christ, enjoy Christ, and be filled with Christ.

The Will of God is Concentrated in Christ and is for Christ – He’s the Preeminent and All-inclusive One!

For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. Col. 2:9 And He is the Head of the Body, the church; He is the beginning, the Firstborn from the dead, that He Himself might have the first place in all things. Col. 1:18

According to Colossians 1:9, the will of God is concentrated in Christ and is for Christ; Christ is everything in the will of God. The will of God is profound in relation to our knowing, experiencing, and living the all-inclusive, extensive Christ.

God’s will is not just for us to do this or that for God, nor is it just for us to marry this person or get that job. God’s will is concentrated in Christ and is for Christ, and this Christ is the all-inclusive and extensive Christ, who is God, man, and the reality of every positive thing in the universe (Col. 2:16-17).

The apostle Paul did not cease praying and asking on behalf of the Colossian believers that they may be filled with the full knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding.

This should be our prayer also, Lord, fill us with the full knowledge of Your will! We want the full knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding!

It is possible for us to have incomplete knowledge of God’s will; we know something of God’s will, but we don’t see that much.

We know something of the will of God, but it is not that thorough. The apostle Paul was not praying for the Colossian believers to know who to marry, where to live, what job to have, or where to go.

Many times things such as these are considered by Christians as being the will of God. We ask, Lord, what is Your will for my life? What is Your will for where should I go and what should I do?

Surely we need to pray for these things, but these are not as important or as high as knowing the will of God, which is concentrated in Christ.

We need to see Christ, enjoy Christ, and experience Christ. We need to see that Christ is the portion of all the saints.

He is the image of the invisible God. He is the firstborn of the old creation and the firstborn of the new creation. He is the reality of the good land.

He is the reality of all the positive things in the universe. He is our life, and He is all and in all in the new man.

He is the supremely precious One, and He is the preeminent One. Christ is the preeminent One, the One who has the first place in all things (1:18).

Even more, the all-inclusive, extensive Christ is the centrality and universality, the centre and circumference, of God’s economy (Col. 1:15-27; Eph. 1:10).

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. In Him all things were created, in the heavens and on the earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or lordships or rulers or authorities.

All things have been created through Him and unto Him. Christ is before all things, and all things cohere in Him.

All these things related to Christ seem to be so lofty, but actually, these need to be our enjoyment and experience day by day. In all our decisions, in everything we do, in everything we say, we want Christ to be the preeminent One.

As we speak with the saints around us, when we have a conversation with our spouse, or when we speak to our workmates or friends, we want to give the Lord the preeminence. We want Him to be the center and everything in our life.

Therefore we also, since the day we heard of it, do not cease praying and asking on your behalf that you may be filled with the full knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. Col. 1:9 That their hearts may be comforted, they being knit together in love and unto all the riches of the full assurance of understanding, unto the full knowledge of the mystery of God, Christ. Col. 2:2 Many times in the church life we spend a lot of time dealing with problems; there are problems in our family life, in the church life, and at work.

Many of our problems can be prevented if we enjoy Christ, partake of Christ, and are concentrated on Christ, giving Him the preeminence in our being.

If our married life coheres in Christ, if Christ has the preeminence in all things, we will have no problems in our married life.

In God’s economy, Christ is everything; now God wants that His Christ, and Christ alone, would be our all in all.

God wants Christ and only Christ, for to Him, Christ is the most wonderful One, the preeminent One, and the all-inclusive One, even the One who is all and in all (Matt. 17:5; Col. 3:10-11).

On the Mount of Transfiguration, the Lord unveiled Himself as the God-man, and Peter saw His glory; however, Peter appreciated Christ on the same level as Elijah and Moses, and God was not happy with this.

Elijah and Moses are God’s servants, but Christ is the preeminent One; to God, Christ is everything, and He wants only Christ. God’s will is concentrated in Christ.

May we not put anything or anyone above Christ or even on the same level with Christ; Christ is everything, He is the centre and the circumference.

May we open to the Lord regarding this, even come to Him in a specific way for Him to make Christ everything to us so that we may see that the will of God is concentrated in Christ and Christ alone!

Lord Jesus, fill us with the full knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. We exercise our spirit to know the will of God and do the will of God. Amen, Lord, may we see that the will of God is concentrated in Christ and is in Christ. May we see that the will of God is for Christ. Unveil us, Lord, and comfort our hearts so that we may see. May we have all the riches of the full assurance of understanding so that we may be filled unto the full knowledge of the mystery of God, Christ! Amen, Lord, may we have a renewed mind to understand and realise that Christ is everything in the will of God! May we see, enjoy, and experience Christ as the all-inclusive and extensive One! Oh, may Christ be the centrality and universality of our being and work! Unveil us, Lord, to see that Christ is everything in God’s economy. May the wonderful, preeminent, all-inclusive Christ be everything to us in our Christian life! Hallelujah for Christ!

God’s Will is that we Know, Experience, Enjoy, and be Saturated with Christ for the Church

...Christ is all and in all. Col. 3:11

What God is preoccupied with is just Christ; Christ is God’s beloved, God’s will is concentrated on Christ, and God wants only Christ. God’s will is that we know Christ, experience Christ, enjoy Christ, be saturated with Christ, and have Christ as our person and our life (Col. 3:4, 11).

He wants Christ to be our everything in a practical way, even in our daily experience. Christ is the mystery of God (Col. 2:2); for us to know God, we need to see Christ and enjoy Christ.

To whom God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Col. 1:27 When Christ our life is manifested, then you also will be manifested with Him in glory. Col. 3:4Merely by reading the Bible and trying to understand it, we cannot know in a thorough way what God is and what He intends to do; we need to exercise our spirit.

According to Colossians, God’s intention in His economy is to work the wonderful, all-inclusive Christ into our being as our life and everything so that we may become the corporate expression of the Triune God (Col. 1:27; 3:4, 10-11).

This is what He intends to do; He doesn’t just want for Christ to be God’s centrality and universality, but He wants His all-inclusive and extensive Christ to be our centrality and universality by our enjoyment and experience of Christ.

The will of God is that the all-inclusive, extensive Christ would be our portion (Col. 1:9, 12). Christ is our portion; He is the allotted portion of the saints.

God’s will is for us to be saturated and permeated with Christ.

If we do not pay our full attention to Christ, if we are not concentrated on Christ in our Christian life and church life, it will be easy for us to be distracted by many things and be led astray from Christ.

The Colossian believers were distracted by philosophies, culture, gnosticism, and many other things; the solution is to come back to Christ and pay our full attention to Christ.

For us to have a proper knowledge of God’s will, which is concentrated in Christ, we need to open to the Lord in our personal time with Him so that we may be saturated with Christ.

Whatever we do must be done in the will of God; we must open to the Lord and take Christ as our everything.

We may wonder who we should marry; God’s will is Christ, so we need to marry in Christ!

One thing I have asked from Jehovah; / That do I seek: / To dwell in the house of Jehovah / All the days of my life, / To behold the beauty of Jehovah, / And to inquire in His temple. Psa. 27:4We need to be concentrated on Christ and enjoy Christ, and He will arrange all things for us. We need to work in Christ, move in Christ, and do all things in Christ.

We may serve with some practical matters in the church life, or we may be involved with the campus work or caring for the young ones; we need to do all things in Christ.

When we come together to fellowship, we should not just utter a prayer and then get down to business, talking about the many practical things we need to coordinate about.

Rather, we need to come together and enjoy the Lord together, focus on Christ with the saints, and just exercise our spirit to partake of the riches of Christ.

Our principle in meeting to coordinate with the saints should be that as in Psalm 27:4, One thing we ask of the Lord, that we will seek, to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of our life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His temple.

First, we enjoy the Lord, and then we ask of Him. May we see that God’s will is concentrated in Christ, and may we know Christ, enjoy Christ, experience Christ, and be saturated with Christ.

If we focus on Christ, who is the centre of the will of God, we will be at peace, the church life will go on, the saints will be built up, and the Lord has a way to bless whatever we are doing.

Lord Jesus, we give You the first place in all things by faith. Have the preeminence in us. We open to You. Oh Lord, work Yourself into us. May the all-inclusive, extensive Christ be wrought into our being as our life and everything so that we may become the corporate expression of God! Amen, Lord, do this in us. We want to pay attention to nothing else but Christ. May we be concentrated on Christ. May the will of God be done in our life: may Christ become our everything! Amen, Lord, we come to You to enjoy You in Your word. We take You as our portion. We take You as the allotted portion of the saints. May we see that God’s will is for Christ to be enjoyed and experienced by us. Amen, Lord, we give ourselves to know Christ, experience Christ, enjoy Christ, be saturated with Christ, and have Christ as our person and our life! May everything we do be in the will of God! Amen, Lord, may Christ be our life and our person today!

Colossians is a book concerning God’s will…Wisdom is in our spirit for us to realize, sense, and perceive the spiritual things, and understanding is in our mind to interpret what we perceive [1:9]. We need all spiritual wisdom and understanding in order to have the full knowledge of the will of God… The will of God mentioned here is the eternal will of God, the great will of God. It is related not to the things in our daily life but to God’s purpose, God’s intention. To know this will requires that we have full knowledge and all spiritual wisdom and understanding. What is the will of God according to His desire, His intention, in the whole universe, in creation, in redemption, in the coming age, and in eternity?… If we read [Colossians], we will realize that the answer [to this question] is Christ Himself. The will of God is in Christ, concentrated in Christ, and for Christ. Christ is everything in the will of God. We must know this and realise this with spiritual wisdom and with our understanding in a clear, renewed mind.

The revelation that Christ is everything in the will of God is crucial to our knowing, experiencing, and living the all-inclusive Christ as the preeminent One, the Centrality of God’s economy, the One who is all-in-all!

Hallelujah, it is the will of God that this Christ be worked into our being as our portion to possess, enjoy, and be saturated with Him as our life so that we can become the corporate expression of the Truine God!

Oh, may we be comforted in such love and wisdom of God’s will in full knowledge and understanding in a renewed mind!

Lord, we open for You to become our life! (Ref. Col.1:9; 2:2).

God’s will for the Colossians was for them to know Christ, to experience Christ, to enjoy Christ, to live Christ, and to have Christ become their life and their person. God’s will for us today is exactly the same.

Amen

Lord Jesus, unveil us to see the will of God! Fill us with the full knowledge of the will of God in all spiritual wisdom and understanding! Amen, Lord, may we see and realise that the will of God is concentrated in Christ! May we give Christ the first place in all things! Amen!

We believers in Christ need to see the will of God, realise that God’s will is concentrated in Christ, and give Christ the preeminence in all things. God wants us to enjoy Christ, experience Christ, be saturated with Christ, and have Christ as our everything in our daily life.

Oh Lord, we open to You! We want to focus only on You. Saturate us with Yourself. Work Yourself into us. Keep us enjoying and experiencing You for the building up of the church! Amen!
