Our Wedding Garment is Christ Lived out of us as our Subjective Righteousness Daily

But you have a few names in Sardis who have not defiled their garments, and they will walk with Me in white because they are worthy. He who overcomes will be clothed thus, in white garments...Rev. 3:4-5

Our wedding garment is Christ lived out of us as our subjective righteousness; this is the righteousnesses of the saints, the bright and clean wedding garment, our overcoming life and overcoming living, which qualifies us to attend the wedding feast of the Lamb.

Amen, we want to be those who daily cooperate with the Lord by opening to Him, allowing Him to work Himself into us, and letting Him live out of us as our subjective righteousness so that we may prepare our wedding garment!

Our aspiration as believers in Christ is not just to enjoy the Lord day by day so that we know Him more; we aspire to be prepared as the bride of Christ so that He may have a way to come and rapture us as His beautiful, righteous, holy, and glorious bride! God is righteous, and everything He does is righteous; the very foundation of His throne is righteousness.

He is right with everything and everyone; we, however, are not right with God, with man, and with things. So Christ came as God incarnated as a man to die for us and become our righteousness before God.

In order for us to become the bride of Christ, we first need to have Christ as our righteousness objectively, that is, we need to be justified by God through our faith in Christ. We today can repent and believe into the Lord, and God counts Christ as our righteousness.

Furthermore, as we enjoy Christ based on being justified by God, He has a way to express Himself through us, and we bear God’s image.

Being justified by God is not the end; we are justified by having Christ as our righteousness so that we may go on with the Lord, enjoy Him, and partake of His riches, even to live and walk according to the Spirit so that He may be expressed through us.

Having righteousness issues first in having the image of God and then in establishing the kingdom of God.

Today in the church life we not only eat and drink the Lord but even more, we enjoy and experience Christ as our righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. And for eternity, we will enjoy righteousness, for righteousness will dwell in the new heavens and new earth! Praise the Lord!

Today, as we live our Christian life, we are in the process of preparing our wedding garment by having Christ wrought into us and lived out of us as our subjective righteousness.

When Christ is lived out of us as our righteousnesses, our righteous deeds, we are preparing our wedding garment.

Our Wedding Garment is Christ Lived out of us as our Subjective Righteousness

The king's daughter is all glorious within the royal abode; / Her garment is a woven work inwrought with gold. She will be led to the King in embroidered clothing...Psa. 45:13-14

The bride in Revelation 19:7-9 has a particular wedding garment, the fine linen, bright and clean, which is the righteousnesses of the saints.

What is this wedding garment in our experience and how can we cooperate with the Lord to prepare it?

The righteousness we received for our salvation is objective; it is by faith in Christ, and it enables us to meet the requirement of the righteous God (1 Cor. 1:30).

The righteousnesses of the overcoming saints, the wedding garment, are subjective and enable us to meet the requirement of the overcoming Christ (Phil. 3:9).

Objectively, Christ became righteousness to us from God; this is for us to be justified before God.

Subjectively, however, Christ needs to become our lived-out righteousness, our righteousnesses before God and man, for us to meet the requirement of the overcoming Christ.

Paul said that he wanted to be found in Christ, not having his own righteousness, which is according to the law but the righteousness which is of God and based on faith; this is the subjective righteousness.

As we prayerfully consider the matter of preparing ourselves for the wedding feast, we need to realise that we need not only Christ as our objective righteousness before God but even more, Christ as our subjective righteousness, Christ lived out of us in our daily living.

Christ was revealed in us, Christ lives in us, and Christ is being formed in us; we aspire to have Christ lived out of us as our subjective righteousness.

He has infused us with faith, which is Himself as our believing ability, and now we learn to live a life by faith so that we may gain our wedding garment.

The wedding garment in Matthew 22:11-12 signifies the Christ whom we live out and who is expressed through us in our daily living as our surpassing righteousness (5:20; Rev. 3:4-5, 18).

For us to participate at the wedding feast of the Lamb, we need to have our wedding garment, which is not just the best robe spoken of in Luke 15 but the second garment spoken of in Psalm 45:13-14.

On the one hand, thank the Lord that we have Christ as our objective righteousness for our salvation; on the other hand, we need to have Christ lived out of us as our subjective righteousness for our victory, our wedding garment.

The queen in Psalm 45 signifies the church; her first garment is inwrought with gold, and her second garment is embroidered clothing.

Gold in the Bible signifies the nature of God; when we were saved, we received a golden garment which enables us to be in the presence of God.

Besides this, however, we need another garment, a garment of embroidery. This signifies that we are now under the daily transforming work of the Holy Spirit and we need to cooperate with Him to produce our wedding garment.

The Holy Spirit works on us and in us day by day to transform us; our wedding garment is produced and prepared under the embroidering work of the Holy Spirit.

In our daily living we need to open to the Lord, enjoy Him, be supplied in spirit, and live out the Christ who is within us so that we may express Christ.

Let us rejoice and exult, and let us give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready. And it was given to her that she should be clothed in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteousnesses of the saints. Rev. 19:7-8 We need to be daily open to the transformation work of the Holy Spirit so that the second garment may be produced in us.

Wow, there is the embroidering work of the Holy Spirit taking place in our being so that we who are chosen would also be qualified to attend the wedding feast of the Lamb!

There’s a fine needlework of embroidering Christ subjectively into our being so that He becomes our expression in our living.

Yes, Christ is in us as our life, and we are covered with Christ before God as our objective righteousness; however, Christ is also being wrought into us, even stitched into our being, to be our embroidered garment, our daily living.

We need to be open daily to the Lord’s transforming work and allow the Holy Spirit to work Christ into our being so that we may also express Christ in our living.

Christ lives in us, adjusts us, shines in us, and limits us; He wants to transform us into His image so that He may be expressed through us.

When we speak something, we need to check with the Lord within us; when we go somewhere, we check with the Lord, for we want to remain in the transforming work and the work of embroidering so that the Holy Spirit and us would produce the wedding garment.

Whether we like it or not, we need to learn to accept the daily work of the Holy Spirit to transform us; it is a needlework, involving suffering, but this produces the wedding garment, Christ lived out in us as our subjective righteousness, even the righteousnesses of the saints.

Lord Jesus, we love You and we want to prepare ourselves for Your return by living one spirit with You today. Amen, Lord, we want to cooperate with You to obtain the wedding garment of embroidered clothing so that we may attend the wedding feast of the Lamb! Hallelujah, Christ lived out of us as our subjective righteousness becomes our wedding garment! Amen, Lord, live in us today. Thank You for being our objective righteousness covering us before God and enabling us to meet the requirements of the righteous God. We want to have You as our subjective righteousness as overcoming saints to be enabled to meet the requirements of the overcoming Christ! Oh Lord, amen, we open to the transforming work of the Holy Spirit to have Christ wrought into our being and lived out in our daily living. Amen, may there be a fine, detailed, and intrinsic work going on in our being for us to have the embroidered wedding garment to be qualified to attend the wedding feast of the Lamb!

Walking Daily According to the Spirit of Life to Prepare our Bright Linen Garment, the Righteousnesses of the Saints

But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom to us from God: both righteousness and sanctification and redemption. 1 Cor. 1:30 And be found in Him, not having my own righteousness which is out of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is out of God and based on faith. Phil. 3:9 The bride in Revelation chapter 19 is clothed with fine linen, bright and clean; this is the wedding garment, and these are the righteousnesses of the saints.

How can we have this wedding garment? On His side, the Lord as the Spirit, works in us and around us to do a transforming work to produce this garment. On our side, we need to let Christ grow in us and we need to live out Christ.

When Christ grows in us and lives out of us by our walking according to the Spirit, we will have the righteousnesses of the saints, the wedding garment.

How can Christ grow in us? It is by eating and drinking Christ all the time. This is why we need to focus not on trying to improve our behaviour but on eating Christ, drinking Christ, and walking according to the Spirit (Rom. 8:4; Gal. 6:15, 25).

When we eat Christ and drink Him in His word, we are inwardly supplied and enabled to live Christ; our daily living will be according to the Spirit for us to manifest the Lord.

The way for Christ to grow in us and live out of us is by our eating and drinking Him all the time. In this way Christ as our subjective righteousness is constituted into our being, and we will express Him.

Our daily living will be the living of the new man, which was created in righteousness (Eph. 4:24). As we allow the Lord to work Himself into us as our subjective righteousness, He is constituted into our being and we will prepare our wedding garment.

When Christ lives in us and grows in us, He is also expressed through us. We do not merely perform a certain religious duty; we simply live out Christ as our subjective righteousness.

May we daily experience the wonderful indwelling of Christ and open to Him to allow Him to grow in us, shine in us, and adjust us.

We should not think that living Christ is too high or profound for us to attain to, that only the older and more mature saints can do this; rather, we need to daily grow in Christ and walk according to the Spirit.

We all need to live Christ by checking with Him and conversing with Him about everything.

As we involve the Lord in all the details of our daily living, as we check with Him about the things we’re about to do, and as we just open to Him about all things, He is wrought into us little by little, day by day.

We are regenerated people who have Christ as our subjective righteousness interwoven into our being so that we may have the fine linen, bright and clean; this is the beauty of the bride.

Amen, we are becoming the bride of Christ revealed in Revelation 19, the redeemed and transformed tripartite beings!

And put on the new man, which was created according to God in righteousness and holiness of the reality. Eph. 4:24 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined by fire that you may be rich, and white garments that you may be clothed and that the shame of your nakedness may not be manifested, and eyesalve to anoint your eyes that you may see. Rev. 3:18 This bride will wear white linen, which is the righteousnesses of the saints! To become such a bride, we need to adorn ourselves with the bright, shining, and pure righteousness; we do this by daily preparing the bright linen clothing to cover ourselves.

We cover ourselves not just with Christ as our objective righteousness but even more, with the Christ lived out in us as we walk according to the Spirit.

May we have many experiences daily of walking according to the Spirit so that Christ would be wrought into our being and lived out of us as our subjective righteousness.

It is in this way that our righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees (Matt. 5:20) because it is not just us doing something for God but Christ Himself in us living in us and expressing Himself through us.

This second garment, our wedding garment, is also referred to in Revelation 3:4, 5, and 18, where we are told not to defile our garments but walk with the Lord in white, and the overcomers are clothed in white garments.

Furthermore, in Revelation 3:18 the Lord advised the church in Laodicea to buy from Him white garments.

Amen, our clothing is associated with righteousness; we need the righteousnesses of the saints, the righteous acts of the saints.

We need to have Christ living in us as we have an overcoming life, an overcoming living. Praise the Lord, blessed are those who are called to the marriage dinner of the Lamb (Rev. 19:9)!

Lord Jesus, we want to walk daily according to the Spirit to prepare our bright linen garment for the wedding feast! We love You, Lord, and we come to You to eat and drink You all the time! Grow in us. We give You more ground in our being for You to grow, expand, and enlarge in our being. Keep us in our spirit. We want to check with You concerning all things. May our daily living be in oneness with You. Lord Jesus, constitute Yourself as righteousness into our being. Work Yourself into us. We open to the inner, fine, and delicate embroidery work of our wedding garment. We want to adorn ourselves with the bright, shining, and pure righteousness. May our daily living not be defiled but clean, bright, and pure as we walk according to the Spirit of life! Amen, Lord, may we daily pay the price to buy from You white garments. We give ourselves to You, Lord, and we want to cooperate with You to produce our wedding garment so that we may enter the wedding feast of the Lamb!

In Psalm 45 the queen has two garments (vv. 13-14), one corresponding to the objective righteousness for our salvation and the other to the subjective righteousness for our victory. The latter is equivalent to the wedding garment in Matthew 22:11 and 12. The queen in Psalm 45 signifies the church. Her first garment is inwrought with gold, and her second is embroidered clothing. In the Bible gold signifies the nature of God. At the time of our salvation we received a golden garment that enabled us to be in the presence of God. In addition to this, we need another garment, a garment of embroidery. This embroidery signifies the transforming work of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit today is working on us to transform us…Although we have the first garment, our second garment is now being prepared under the embroidering work of the Holy Spirit. This garment will qualify us to see Christ at His judgment seat. Day by day we are under the needle, the transformation work, of the Holy Spirit. This is because we need not only justification but also approval…Only those who have the second garment produced by the embroidering work of the Holy Spirit will be chosen and qualified to attend the wedding feast of the Lamb.

Righteousness here does not refer only to objective righteousness, which is the Christ whom we receive when we believe in Him and are thus justified before God (1 Cor. 1:30; Rom. 3:26); it refers even more to subjective righteousness, which is the indwelling Christ lived out of us as our righteousness that we may live in the reality of the kingdom today and enter into its manifestation in the future. This subjective righteousness is obtained not by merely the fulfilling of the old law, but by the complementing of the old law through the fulfilling of the new law of the kingdom of the heavens given by the new King here in this section of the Word. This righteousness of the kingdom people, which is according to the new law of the kingdom, surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, which is according to the old law. It is impossible for our natural life to gain this surpassing righteousness; it can be produced only by a higher life, the resurrection life of Christ. This righteousness, which is likened to the wedding garment (Matt. 22:11-12), qualifies us to participate in the wedding of the Lamb (Rev. 19:7-8) and inherit the kingdom of the heavens in its manifestation, that is, to enter into the kingdom of the heavens in the future.

The righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees is the righteousness of letters, which they practiced by their own life according to the old law of letters; the surpassing righteousness of the kingdom people is the righteousness of life, which they live out by taking Christ as their life according to the new law of life. Both in nature and in standard, the righteousness of life far surpasses the lifeless righteousness practiced by the scribes and Pharisees.

Chapter ten is not only a continuation of chapter nine, but also a further definition of the race in 9:24-27, with the children of Israel in the wilderness used as an illustration. The children of Israel were baptized unto Moses to begin the holy race for the fulfilling of God’s purpose, that is, to enter into the good land and build the temple so that God may have a kingdom with an expression of Himself on the earth. This typifies the New Testament believers being baptized into Christ (Gal. 3:27) that God may have His kingdom with the church as His expression on the earth.

In verse 5, a strong word of warning, Paul says, “But with most of them God was not well pleased, for they were strewn along in the wilderness.” The very ones who struck the blood of the Passover lamb, who made their exodus from Egypt, who crossed the Red Sea, and who even received God’s revelation at Mount Sinai and ate the manna and drank of the living water were strewn along in the wilderness. Nearly all fell and died in the wilderness, failing to reach this goal (Heb. 3:7-19) because of their evil doings and unbelief.

Only Caleb and Joshua made it into the good land (Num. 14:27-30). This signifies that although we have been redeemed through Christ, delivered out of Satan’s bondage, and brought into the revelation of God’s economy, we may yet fail to reach the goal of God’s calling, that is, to enter into the possession of our good land, Christ (Phil. 3:12-14), and enjoy His riches for the kingdom of God that we may be His expression in the present age and participate in the fullest enjoyment of Christ in the kingdom age (Matt. 25:21, 23). (Life-Study of 1 Corinthians, Chapter 47)
