The goal of the gospel is to love the Lord Jesus! (sharing from the college-age conference)

Hallelujah – The goal of the gospel is to love the Lord Jesus! The College Age Conference in Wales last weekend was my first conference ever. Although I have been a Christian for many years I am very new to the church life and it is by His great mercy that 6 months ago “He brought some saints my own way“. O Lord!

In the meetings at the conference, we went almost through the entire Gospel of John. John is a book of Life and Building. Thank You Lord that You have come that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10b)!

Why am I here? All men question their existence but few dare to truly seek the answer. Jesus came to give His divine life to mankind. Why? So that we, as those who receive Him, may love Him. The reason I was born was to love the Lord Jesus! I am a vessel that has been chosen by the Lord to receive the Lord and to love the Lord.

In John 12 Mary anoints the feet of Jesus with a pound of precious ointment. The disciples in Matthew 26:8 were “indignant, saying ‘Why this waste?'” But Jesus did not consider such an offering a waste. In fact He said “Wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what this woman has done shall also be told as a memorial of her.”(Matt 26:13)

The story of Mary’s love offering to Jesus reveals the response that we need to have towards the Lord. Mary recognised that Jesus would not be with them physically for much longer. Therefore she wanted to express her love for Jesus by “wasting” something precious upon Him whilst she still had the chance.

What should I ‘waste’ upon the Lord? What is most precious to me?

We are all limited by time. We will only have a maximum of 85 years to live on earth. Some of us may even have less. How should we spend this time? We only have one short life. The Lord’s desire is that we would use our time to pursue Him, taking every opportunity to turn to the Lord. In this way, we are pouring out a love offering to Him. This is a sweet fragrance to our Lord. The Lord does not just want our meetings or our time in the morning, He wants our entire day! And He wants all of our days. O, Lord! What a high calling it is to love You!

Jesus said that Mary’s story should accompany the gospel preaching. Why? Because the goal of the gospel is to pour out our lives in love to the Lord Jesus. [sharing by brother Ben L-O. from the recent Spring College Age Conference in Wales]

oh Lord teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
