The last verse of Psalms 8 and the conclusion of this psalm is, “O Jehovah our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth!” This short psalm speaks about God’s intention to join the earth to the heavens and to bring down the heavens to the earth, making these two one.
For this, Psalms 8 speaks about Christ’s incarnation, human living, death, resurrection, ascension, and His being crowned to be the Lord and Christ and the King of kings, the unique Ruler in the universe!
God has caused man – that is, Christ – to rule over all the works of God’s hands and has put all things under His feet.
The first man Adam fell – and now we are born and live in the fallen creation, where nothing is subject to us. But there will be a time – the time of restoration, when everything will be in a good order! This is why we pray today, as the Lord has instructed us in Matt. 6:9-10, “Our Father who is in the heavens, Your name be sanctified; Your kingdom come; Your will be done, as in heaven, so also on earth“!
What we can do today to bring in God’s kingdom is to live Christ and live the church life! God’s goal as seen in Psalms 8 is to join the earth to the heavens and bring the heavens to the earth – if we are victorious and overcoming every day, this is our reality!
If not, if we are defeated believers, the earth is dark and messy and the heavens is far away!
This is why the unbelievers need all kinds of worldly amusements and sinful pleasures – they want to taste something of the heavens, but they don’t come to Christ to enjoy Him, who IS the heavens! But we in the church life have Christ and the church!
When we live Christ and live in the church life, the heavens and the earth are one! When we live Christ and in the church life, the earth is joined to the heavens and the heavens are on the earth! The Lord’s name is excellent in all the earth!
It is so simple – we just need to enjoy the Lord today and be in the church life, enjoying Him with all the saints! This is our “entertainment” and our “amusement”, even our best enjoyment – to enjoy Christ and the church life, where His name is excellent and His glory is above the heavens!
We enjoy Christ and the church life until the earth and the heavens are one in a complete way! We enjoy Christ and the church life until the millennium age, the age of restoration, is being brought in, and then we will enjoy God’s salvation to the uttermost! Everyone will be fresh, young, living, and full of strength to praise the Lord! At that time we all will be babes and sucklings, praising the Lord with a perfected praise!
Praise the Lord for His name – how excellent is His name in all the earth!

Lord Jesus, keep us enjoying You and the church life! Make us those who enjoy Christ in the church life, those who have the earth joined to the heavens! Lord, may Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is being done in the heaven! Praise You, Lord, Your name is excellent in all the earth! We praise You for Your intention to bring in Your kingdom in all the earth. Bring in Your kingdom in us, Lord. Make Your name excellent in all our being. Start with us, dear Lord, and take over the whole earth for You!
