the results of our deeper experience of God by dwelling in God as seen in Psalm 92

the results of our deeper experience of God by dwelling in God as seen in Psalm 92Psalms 90 and 91 show us a person who seeks to have a deeper experience of God by dwelling in God and taking God as his habitation. This person is Christ Himself – He took God as His habitation and He did everything in God, by God, and through God.

By virtue of us being identified with Christ in the organic union with Him (1 Cor. 6:17), we also dwell in God and take God as our habitation.

Psalm 92 tells us of many wonderful issues and results of our experience of God in a deeper way by dwelling in God and taking God as our habitation.

Being full of praise to the Lord

The very first result of our dwelling in God is that we are filled with praise to the Lord! “It is good to give thanks to Jehovah, and to sing psalms to Your name, O Most High” (Psa. 92:1). We and the Lord take God as our home, and what results is that we sing praises to God!

On the one hand, we praise the Lord to abide in the Lord, and on the other hand, the result of abiding in the Lord is that we praise the Lord much more! Praise the Lord! In God as our habitation, our dwelling place, we praise the Lord – and it is SO GOOD! It is good to give praise to God, sing psalms to His name, and thank Him for everything!

Seeing the great works of God

The second result is seen in verse 4, “You have made me rejoice, O Jehovah, because of what You have done; because of the works of Your hands I will shout for joy.” When we dwell with God in His habitation we see what the great work of God is, we see what God is doing today.

What is the great work of God?

God today is restoring the desolated building of God (He is recovering the local churches and the building of God in a practical way) and He is recovering the sons of Korah (we as the rebellious ones are being recovered to God as our portion of inheritance).

When we are not taking God as our habitation we may see many things, but we cannot see the great works of God. God’s great work of recovery and building can be seen only when we abide in the Lord, when we dwell in God, when we take God as our habitation.

Establish the work of our hands upon us; indeed the work of our hands, establish it.” (Psa 90:17) and “How great are Your works, O Jehovah” (Psa. 92:5) – these verses show that God’s work becomes our work, and we become one with God in His great works by dwelling in God and taking Him as our habitation.

Mingled with fresh oil

Another result of taking God as our habitation by abiding in the Lord is that “I am anointed with fresh oil” (Psa. 92:10). This literally means that we are mingled with fresh oil – the same word is used in Lev. 2:4. This fresh oil is the consummated Spirit, who is present, fresh, flowing, pure, and continually anointing us.

As we dwell in God we are mingled with the Spirit freshly every day! You can even feel how this fresh Spirit is daily anointing you, mingling Himself with you, and refreshing you here in God as your habitation!

Flourishing and bearing fruit in old age

In verses 12 and 13 we see that as we take God as our habitation in all the local churches we are not like grass (blossoming and then perishing) but like palms and cedars, stately and secure, planted in God’s house. Here we flourish to the extent that even in old age we bring forth fruit, being full of sap and green (Psa. 92:14).

The more we dwell in God, the more we take God as our habitation, the younger we become and the more flourishing we are. We need to dwell here in God, in the local church, in the house of God, so that we would bear fruit for God to be glorified!

Lord, keep us in this organic union with You today. We don’t want to live apart from You or outside of You. Lord, we praise You for joining us to You, the One who dwells in God! By dwelling in God we can praise the Lord and see God’s great works! Thank You for Your recovery work. Praise You for Your building work. Lord, thank You for the daily mingling with fresh oil. O, Lord, keep us abiding in You today to enjoy all these wonderful results for Your building!
