college age conference testimony – practically consecrating our time to the Lord for His building

October 25, 2010 by aGodMan 1 Comment

This last College Age Conference really moved me and changed my entire perception towards God’s need today. In the book of Exodus we can see that God desires a building – the people of Israel journeyed from the crossing of the Red Sea until they had a unique building – the tabernacle.

One of the brothers shared about how “he felt homeless in London” – since it’s been a while since he was looking desperately for a home / a place to live. In this situation, he was reminded of how God has been homeless for so many centuries!

YES – God desires to have a building through us and with us! YES! God has been homeless all these years because of us. YES! He is DESPERATE to have a building, a dwelling place. However, we don’t care about His need. We are just being selfish with our own need!

We spend our time on ‘Egypt’ more than spending time with the Lord. It really touched me to see that we need to have a detailed consecration to our Lord. God is in the details and so our consecration has to be detailed as well.

Time and Money are the main concern because they are the main cause that distract us from our spirit and they bring our heart back to Egypt. I was particularly touched with the matter of consecrating of our time to the Lord.

Indeed, we need to consecrate our time to Him to have an intimate fellowship with Him every day. Actually, time is not something that belongs to us! If Lord wants to take away our time, He can just take it away. But He wants our cooperation!

We all are healthy (to one degree or another) – and this is obviously not merely a coincidence! It is absolutely the Lord’s mercy in His economy. The fact that we live now is because God HAS A PURPOSE for us! He wants a building on the earth through me. Since He gave us time, why can’t we just consecrate one hour or even two hours daily to our Lord?

Strictly speaking, we are not “giving our time to Him” as if we’re doing Him a service. On the contrary, we are the ones who “borrow time from the Lord”. O Lord Jesus! I pray that now may it be the time for me to pay You back what I had borrowed from You! Lord, I had wasted lots of time on the world all these years. Even though I had received the Lord for more than 10 years, I feel that I am still so young in the Lord. I feel that I am not even qualified to become a His slave.

O Lord Jesus, I want to be useful to You. I don’t wish to become “the unsalted salt” / the salt that looses its taste! I just want to be with You. I consecrate my time to You Lord. Let Your word constitute me day by day to make me a useful vessel for Your move. I desire to be Your slave so I want to be qualified to become Your slave – to serve you Lord and be a useful building material for Your building. AMEN! [guest post: bro. Celdrick’s testimony from the recent College Age Conference in the UK]

"… we are not “giving our time to Him” as if we’re doing Him a service". This sentence absolutely blew my concepts away. Not only we are borrowing time from the Lord, we are also not paying Him back the dues. Lord, help me to redeem my time and pay You back what I owed You!
