Our being in the Name of the Lord Jesus Involves our Oneness with the Divine Trinity

I have come in the name of My Father, and you do not receive Me...John 5:43

The Gospel of John reveals that our being in the name of the Lord Jesus involves the Divine Trinity, in particular, our oneness with God and doing everything in Him.

Doing all things in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ is a great and high matter, for it is the culmination of all our experience of Christ.

Being in someone’s name means that we are one with that person, we represent that person, and whatever that person speaks, does, and acts, we do the same.

As believers in Christ, we need to do all things in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

And what is this name, Jesus Christ? What is in this name? To those in the world today, who have been blinded by the god of this age, this name does not mean much.

Even to many believers, the name of Jesus may not be that much, for they do not see what is in this name.

God has entrusted us with the name of Jesus, and the Gospel of John tells us that we can ask anything in this name, and it will be done for us.

This means that, when we’re in the name of the Lord Jesus, whatever we do and ask, the Lord approves. Wow!

If we say something and do something, and we are in the name of Jesus, God the Father approves it and delights in it.

This really shows that, in order for us to be in the name of the Lord Jesus, we need to be one with Him – not only in reality but also in practicality.

All believers in Christ are organically joined to the Lord to be one spirit (1 Cor. 6:17).

Each one of us is a member of Christ and, just as the members of our physical body are part of us and are us, so we are one with Christ and are Christ.

As long as we abide in the Lord and allow His words to abide in us, we can ask whatever we want, and it will be done for us.

Our asking in the name of the Lord Jesus means that we are in the Lord and He is in us, we are one with Him and He is one with us.

Our asking is in the organic union with the Lord, so it is actually the Lord asking in us, not just us asking in and by ourselves.

May we be those who seek to be one with the Lord today. May we treasure our organic union with Him.

May we abide in Him so that He may abide in us, and may we let the Lord live in us today and day by day.

May our focus not be on merely doing an outward work for Him or performing certain routines and practices in our daily Christian life.

May our focus be our enjoyment and experience of Christ in a subjective way so that we may do all things in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Pattern of being in the name of the Lord Jesus as seen in the Oneness of the Divine Trinity

But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and remind you of all the things which I have said to you. John 14:26 But when the Comforter comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of reality, who proceeds from the Father, He will testify concerning Me John 15:26Two things we may be impressed with while reading the Gospels are the wonderful person of the Lord Jesus Christ and the mysterious relationship between the Father, the Son, and the Spirit.

Especially the gospel of John with its wonderful utterance unveils to us the Divine Trinity. As revealed in this gospel, our being in the name of the Lord Jesus involves the Divine Trinity (John 5:43; 10:25, 30; 14:26; 15:26).

How can we be in the name of the Lord Jesus?

The Lord Jesus was a pattern to us in doing this, for He came in the name of the Father.

John 5:42 says that the Son came in the name of the Father, and 14:26 says that the Father sent the Spirit in the name of the Son.

Here we see the Divine Trinity being revealed.

When the Son came, when the Lord Jesus came, He did not come from Himself; He came in the name of the Father.

When the Spirit came, the Spirit did not just come to do something like a work; the Spirit came in the Son’s name, being sent by the Father.

To say that the Son came in the name of the Father indicates that the Son and the Father are one.

And to say that the Father sent the Spirit in the name of the Son indicates that the Father is one with the Son.

Throughout the gospels, and in particular, in the gospel of John, we see that the Lord Jesus testified again and again concerning His word, His work, and even His living. He said that He came in the name of the Father and did things in the name of the Father (John 5:43; 10:25).

He did not seek His glory but sought the Father’s glory, and He did not do His own work but the Father’s work.

The fact that the Lord Jesus came in the name of the Father means that He came with the Father and also in the Father.

The Father didn’t remain in the heavens while the Son was on earth working; rather, the Lord came from and with the Father.

And the Lord Jesus testified that He lived because of the Father (John 6:57).

Christ, the Son of God, was one with the Father and lived by the Father, and the Father worked in Him and spoke in Him, doing His works and speaking His words (6:57; 14:10).

What a oneness is this!

If we want to know what it means for us to be in the name of the Lord Jesus, we need to look at what it meant for the Lord to be in the name of the Father.

Jesus answered them, I told you, and you do not believe. The works which I do in My Father's name, these testify concerning Me...I and the Father are one. John 10:25, 30He did not speak from Himself but the Father who was in Him did His works.

He did not do His own work but the work which the Father gave Him to do.

He came in the name of the Father and did everything in the name of the Father; whether in speech or work, He was in the name of the Father.

Furthermore, the same thing can be seen with the Spirit; the Father sent the Spirit in the name of the Son, and the Son sent the Spirit from the Father (v. 26; 15:26).

So who sent the Spirit? The Father sent the Spirit in the name of the Son, and the Son sent the Spirit from the Father.

And when the Spirit came, He didn’t speak from Himself; the Spirit spoke the things that Christ spoke, reminding the believers of the things that the Lord has spoken.

The Son came in the name of the Father, the Father and the Son sent the Spirit, and the Spirit speaks what the Son spoke; this is to be in the name of the Lord.

The Spirit being sent by the Father in the name of the Son implies that both the Father and the Son are the Sender of the Spirit.

Both the Father and the Son send the Spirit; this shows us that the Father and the Son are one (10:30).

What a pattern we see with the Divine Trinity concerning the matter of being in the name of the Lord Jesus!

The Father, the Son, and the Spirit were organically one, always doing things as one, speaking as one, and working as one.

Lord Jesus, thank You for coming in the name of the Father and with the Father. Thank You for sending the Spirit in the name of the Father so that the Spirit would remind us of the things You spoke. What a marvellous organic oneness we see in the Divine Trinity! Hallelujah, we have been brought into the enlarged oneness of the Triune God so that we may be one with the Triune God and do all things in the name of the Lord Jesus! Oh Lord, teach us what it means to be in the name of the Lord Jesus. Lead us, as the Spirit of reality, into all the reality of being in the name of the Lord Jesus. We don’t want to be in our own name and do things in our own name. Oh, Lord Jesus. we want to do all things in the name of the Lord Jesus, abiding in the organic union with the Triune God so that the Lord lives in us, does things in us, and speaks in us!

Our being in the Name of the Lord Jesus Involves our Oneness with the Divine Trinity

But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit. 1 Cor. 6:17 As the living Father has sent Me and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also shall live because of Me. John 6:57The Gospel of John reveals the mysterious and wonderful oneness between the Father, the Son, and the Spirit.

And the Lord Jesus said in John 14 that we all may be one, even as the Father is in the Son and the Son is in the Father, that we all may be in the Father and in the Son. Wow!

The oneness of the Triune God has been enlarged, through the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, to include us, the believers in Christ.

Today we as believers in Christ are one spirit with the Lord. Organically, we are joined to Him.

However, in our daily life we need to practice being one spirit with the Lord.

We need to be in the name of the Lord Jesus and do all things in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

This means that we need to remain in the oneness with the Divine Trinity.

We need to turn from our mind with all its doubts, from our emotion with all its feelings and thoughts, and from our will with its decisions and purposes, and set our whole being on our spirit.

Our oneness with the Lord is in the mingled spirit, in the regenerated human spirit. We need to ask the Lord to teach us what it means for us to be in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We need to take the word of God and pray over it so that we may eat the Lord in His word and live because of Him.

Even as the Lord Jesus came in the name of the Father and lived because of the Father, so we today need to eat the Lord in His word and live because of Him, thus being in the name of the Lord Jesus.

The oneness of the three in the Divine Trinity should not only inspire us and amaze us; this oneness needs to include us, for it has been enlarged to include all the believers in Christ.

We all should aspire to live in our oneness with the Divine Trinity. This means that, when the Lord speaks, we speak, and when He does not speak, we do not speak.

When the Lord cares for the saints by visiting them, we are one with Him to care for them in our visiting them. But if the Lord does not go to visit someone at a particular time, we do not go to visit that one.

We need to learn what it means to be in the name of the Lord Jesus.

On one hand, we need to call on the name of the Lord; as we call on His name, we are saved (Acts 2:21) from ourselves and from anything that is not Him.

On the other hand, we need to not only call on the name of the Lord but also pray and read His word, pray-reading the Bible so that we may know God, be infused with God, and be filled with God.

As we pray-read the word and call on the name of the Lord, we remain in the organic union with the Lord, and He has a way to live in us.

He wants to do this and that, He wants to speak what is in His heart, and He wants to be expressed; we need to remain in our oneness with the Divine Trinity and simply be in the name of the Lord Jesus.

We may think we are not worthy to be in the name of the Lord Jesus, but this is a lie from the enemy.

Being in the Lord’s name is not about our worthiness; He has opened a new and living way for us to enter into God, and we can simply abide in the Lord in all things.

When we abide in the Lord and let His words abide in us in a living way, we remain in our oneness with the Divine Trinity, and He has a way to live in us and be expressed through us.

When this happens, we don’t need to tell others that we are in the name of the Lord Jesus; others will see it, smell it, and sense it.

The people around us are actually looking forward to seeing real Christians (not just Christians in the name) who are in the name of the Lord Jesus.

They have heard about Jesus but have never seen Him; now here we are as believers in Christ, joined to the Lord as one spirit – we need to make the Lord known by being in the name of the Lord Jesus as we remain in our oneness with the Divine Trinity.

May we bring this matter to the Lord and really open to Him concerning our daily living with all its details, and may we ask Him to teach us and lead us as the Spirit of reality into all the reality of what He is so that we may live Christ and manifest Him.

Lord Jesus, we want to abide in You by allowing Your words to abide in us. We call on Your dear name, o Lord Jesus, and we pray and read Your life-giving word. Your word is so sweet. We want to let Your words abide in us day by day so that we may abide in the Lord in our daily living. Lord, what about our daily living? Teach us what it means for us to remain in our oneness with the Divine Trinity. Lead us, Lord, as the Spirit of reality, into the reality of our oneness with the Triune God. We don’t see this oneness too much; make it real to us in our experience. Make it real to us what it means to be in the name of the Lord Jesus. Amen, Lord, live in us today. Be expressed in us and through us. We are one with You, Lord Jesus, and we want to live in the oneness with the Divine Trinity so that we may be in the name of the Lord Jesus in our daily living!

Wonderful!!!!!

Our being in the Lord Jesus is our being in the Triune God- in the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Even during the time of baptism, we have been baptized into the name of the triune God. We endeavor to be in the person and reality of the name both in our daily life of daily living in our christian life and in our service in the church life.

Lord Jesus may in the ordinary things of our daily life and our service for the building up of the church be done in the person and reality of Your name🙏🙏🙏

Dear brother, our being in the name of the Lord Jesus is related to our oneness with the Divine Trinity.

Just as the Lord came in the name of the Father and did everything in the Father and lived because of the Father, so we need to remain in the oneness with the Divine Trinity to live one with the Lord today.

Oh Lord. Keep us in our spirit today. Keep us in the organic union with You today

The Lord came in the name of the Father and did things in the Father’s name. This means that He was one with the Father and lived by the Father, and the Father worked in Him.

Therefore, to be in the Lord’s name means to be one with Him in His transferable attributes.

According to biblical usage, to be in a person’s name means to be one with that person.

Therefore, the name is not merely a signature, stamp, or seal used as an endorsement to conclude a prayer.

The meaning of being in the name of the Lord Jesus is not  therefore that God is charging us to go, but He is charging us to take His Son with us. In other words, He is allowing us to use this name in doing our part in His Kingdom.

Praise Him for this very exalted name in heaven, on the earth and under the earth! Amen!

Amen brother.

Whether we feel it or not, we have been baptised into Christ and have been made one with Him.

However, do we say & do things in our daily lives in the name of Jesus? Often, we are short of Christ and outside of Him.

When this is the case, we are defeated.

When we act & speak in the name of Jesus, we are victorious. Like Jesus, we should be regulated by God’s word & will.
