Offering Ourselves Willingly to the Lord and being His Overcomers to Water Christ

Jehovah declares to my Lord, / Sit at My right hand / Until I make Your enemies / Your footstool. Psa. 110:1

How amazing it is that we can be those offering ourselves willingly to the Lord, in the splendour of our consecration, and water Christ in the day of His warfare, and we can be like a brook from which He drinks as He fights the battle to obtain a footstool for His feet (see Psa. 110)!

In Psa. 109 we see the sufferings and prayer of David, which typify the sufferings and prayer of Christ. David is a type of Christ, and David’s sufferings are a type of Christ’s sufferings; David’s prayer in his sufferings is a type of Christ’s prayer in His sufferings.

On the cross and even before being crucified, Christ suffered very much, for both the religious men and those in politics rose up to persecute Him and His followers, just as David was persecuted.

Everyone around the Lord persecuted Him and tried to put Him to death; on the cross, the whole world rose against Him, and even one of the other people who was crucified with Him turned against Him.

Christ in the flesh offered up both petitions and supplications with strong crying and tears to God, His Father, who was able to save Him out of death and have been heard because of His piety (Heb. 5:7).

Psa. 109 is David’s prayer which typifies Christ’s prayer, and Psa. 110 is God’s answer to Christ’s prayer. How did God answer Christ’s prayer?

It is by raising Him from the dead and seating Him at His right hand; Christ’s resurrection and ascension were God’s answer to Christ’s prayer.

Psa. 110 is one of the highest psalms concerning Christ, for here we see Christ revealed as the King, the Victorious One, the Fighter, and the Drinker; also, Christ is revealed to be the Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. Oh, what a Christ!

Though He was persecuted and even put to death, though He suffered unimaginable things at the hand of His persecutors, He was also raised and made Lord and Christ, Savior and King!

Just like David was persecuted and Saul even tried to kill him, but then he was raised to the throne and ruled over the whole kingdom, so Christ was persecuted and even put to death, and He was resurrected and enthroned by God to be Lord of all, far above all things and persons!

Hallelujah for such a Christ! May we see this Christ and appreciate Him, and may we enjoy Him and experience Him as this wonderful One!

Amen, may we be filled with Him and joined to Him as one spirit to be His companions today, those who follow Him both in His sufferings and in His glory. Amen, Lord Jesus, we love You!

Offering Ourselves Willingly to the Lord to Water Him and being the Overcomers to Quench His Thirst

Jehovah will send forth / The scepter of Your strength from Zion: / Rule in the midst of Your enemies. Psa. 110:2

After Christ suffered and died, God raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand; now Christ is waiting for a footstool for His feet, that is, that His enemies would be subdued and put under His feet.

The Father told Christ, Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies Your footstool (Psa. 110:1).

Jehovah will send forth the sceptre of His strength from Zion so that Christ would rule in the midst of His enemies.

Today all nations are Christ’s enemies, for they are in rebellion against God and His rule; therefore, there is a fight raging on.

We are living in a time of fighting because Christ still does not have a footstool; therefore, we as the Lord’s followers are engaged in this warfare and we stand one with Him for what He is doing today (v. 3).

Your people will offer themselves willingly / In the day of Your warfare, / In the splendor of their consecration. / Your young men will be to You / Like the dew from the womb of the dawn. Psa. 110:3How can we cooperate with the Lord in the warfare going on? It is by offering ourselves willingly to the Lord.

On one hand, we agree with Him and we enthrone Him in our being; on the other hand, we need to be those offering ourselves willingly to the Lord on the day of His warfare to water Him.

Although throughout history we see that the church has become degraded, there has been a line of those who offered themselves willingly to the Lord in the splendour of their consecration.

They saw God’s heart’s desire and His move in that age, and they simply offered themselves willingly to Him in the beauty of their consecration.

Thousands throughout the centuries have offered themselves freely to Christ; to those around them, this seemed to be something foolish, for they lost what was outwardly considered as glory, but they inwardly treasured the Lord and desired to water Him.

There is a splendour with our consecration; if we give ourselves to Him and offer what we are with all we have to Him, He is watered and refreshed.

Psa. 110:3b continues by saying, “Your young men will be to You / Like the dew from the womb of the dawn.”

On one hand, Christ likes to see the splendour of our consecration; on the other hand, He desires the dew from the womb of the dawn.

Our offering ourselves willingly to Him is encouraging to Him, and our spending time with Him early in the morning, even in the “womb of the morning” refreshes Him and waters Him.

Christ today needs the watering; He needs us to be the dew that waters Him.

We need to enter into the womb of the morning day by day, morning after morning, so that we may become the dew to Him to water Him.

Every morning we need to wake up a bit earlier to have our morning watch, our morning time with the Lord; when we spend such personal, intimate, private, and spiritual time with the Lord in the morning, we become like the dew to water Him.

May we not miss the opportunity to water the Lord by missing our time of morning revival! He needs our cooperation. He needs our watering.

He is like a plant that needs the mild, soft, gentle dew, and we can respond to Him by first offering ourselves willingly to the Lord and second by spending time with Him in the morning, just us and Him.

While Christ is fighting, He will be thirsty; therefore, He drinks from the brook by the way, and He will lift up His head (Psa. 110:7).

The brook is the overcomers. Those who offer themselves in the splendour of consecration are the dew of the morning to water Christ, and the overcomers are the brook to quench His thirst.

Today Christ is still fighting; He did win the victory, but He is fighting to gain more ground in our being and in our country, and He is fighting from victory.

As Christ is taking the lead to fight all the way to the end, He needs water to drink; this water will be the overcomers.

He will drink from the brook by the way; / Therefore He will lift up His head. Psa. 110:7 The brook signifies the overcomers. As Christ is taking the lead to fight through to the end, He will need water to drink, and this water will be the overcomers. Note 1, RcV BibleWe want to be those who are offering ourselves willingly to Him in the splendour of our consecration, and we want to be the overcomers today, those who quench the Lord’s thirst.

Once the Lord drinks from the brook by the way, He lifts up His head; this is a sign of victory, of triumph.

We can refresh the Lord, water Him, and quench His thirst, causing Him to be encouraged and lift up His head by being His overcomers today and by offering ourselves willingly to Him.

And not only so, but we ourselves become one with the victorious fighting One to faithfully fight the enemy to the end, and we are also refreshed, watered, and our thirst is quenched.

Today we are one with Christ to fight the battle; we fight the battle in the Lord and in the Body, and our standing is not in our condition or capacity but in Him, in His victory, in what He is and what He has done. Hallelujah!

As we fight the battle in the Lord and in the Body, we are refreshed and watered when we are joined to Him and to those who consecrate themselves to Him willingly and are the overcomers; we are one with Him, and together we will apply the victory of Christ to His enemy.

The Lord wants to gain such ones today, those who offer ourselves willingly to Him in the splendour of our consecration to water Him, and those who overcome and are one with Him so that He will drink and quench His thirst.

May we be such ones today and until the day He returns or we go to be with Him.

Lord Jesus, we offer ourselves willingly to You in the day of Your warfare, in the splendour of our consecration. Amen, Lord, we just give ourselves to You today; we want to water You as You fight the battle to apply the victory You have won on the cross. Praise You, Lord, You are on the throne, and the enemies are being made Your footstool! Hallelujah, Christ rules in the midst of His enemies, and we as His people love to spend time with Him to be like the dew from the womb of the dawn! Lord, we want to be the dew conceived and produced by the womb of the dawn for You to be watered. Make us Your overcomers, those who quench Your thirst as You fight the battle. Hallelujah, Jesus is Lord! Christ is Victor! We are one with You, Lord Jesus, in what You want to do today!

David, typifying Christ, Ruled among men Righteously with the Fear of God

The Spirit of Jehovah spoke through me, / And His word was on my tongue. The God of Israel spoke, / The Rock of Israel spoke to me, / Who rules among men righteously, / Who rules with the fear of God, And is like the light of the morning when the sun rises, / A morning without clouds, / [As when] the tender grass [sprouts up] from the earth / At the [sun's] shining after a rain. 2 Sam. 23:2-4In 2 Sam. 23:1-7 we have David’s last words, which also typify Christ. Just like David, Christ was anointed by God and spoke the word of God (v. 1); the Spirit of Jehovah spoke through him, and His word was on His tongue (v. 2).

All throughout His life, Christ spoke the word of God and was led by the Spirit of God, for the Spirit spoke through Him. In v. 3 we see that Christ is the One who rules among men righteously and rules with the fear of God. Amen!

Yes, David did rule among men righteously and with the fear of God, but that was just a type; the reality is that Christ is the One who will come and rule among men righteously and with the fear of God.

When Christ returns with His kingdom, He will rule with righteousness, and the whole new heaven and new earth will be filled with righteousness, for righteousness will dwell there.

Typifying Christ, David was like the light of the morning when the sun rises without clouds, as when the tender grass sprouts up from the earth at the sun’s shining after a rain (v. 4).

David was such a one in type, but Christ is such a One in reality.

Hallelujah, when Christ rules among men righteously with the fear of God, He is like the light of the morning when the sun rises, as when the tender grass sprouts up from the earth at the sun’s shining after a rain!

Hallelujah, what a Christ! He is now fighting and we join in His fight by offering ourselves willingly to the Lord in the splendour of our consecration, and one day He will return!

Our King will soon come back again, and righteousness will rule as king and justice will be queen!

What we see now among us is falsehood running rampantly, and lies and deceit are prevailing.

But we fight the battle in the Lord, we are joined to Him, and we offer ourselves willingly to Him to water Him and to be one with Him so that truth would quickly come and bring His light from heaven, the foe is crushed and all the sons of God would reign with Him! Amen!

What a Christ we have! He is so rich, so wonderful, and so multi-faceted that David typifies Him in so many aspects, including his last words. Hallelujah for our Christ!

Lord Jesus, You are our King and our Lord! You rule among men righteously with the fear of God. Amen, Lord Jesus, You are like the light of the morning when the sun rises without clouds, as when the tender grass sprouts up from the earth at the sun’s shining after a rain! Amen, Lord Jesus, we enthrone You in our being today. We yearn for Your return so that truth may triumph and be king and freedom would be queen! Amen, Lord, we yearn for the time when we are under Your rule in righteousness and with the fear of God! We offer ourselves willingly to You today for what You want to do in this age. Make us those who are fully joined to You and who reject Your enemy’s temptations so that we may be Your overcomers in this age!
