Our Christian Life is a Life of Receiving the All-inclusive Spirit through Faith

This only I wish to learn from you, Did you receive the Spirit out of the works of law or out of the hearing of faith? Gal. 3:2

Today our Christian life as believers in Christ is a life of receiving the Spirit through faith; our spiritual blessing for eternity is to inherit the Spirit, the consummation of the processed Triune God as our inheritance. Praise the Lord!

God promised Abraham two things: a seed (in whom all the nations will be blessed) and the good land.

The physical aspect of the blessing that God promised to Abraham was the good land, which was a type of the all-inclusive Christ (Gen. 12:7; 13:15; 17:8; 26:3-4; Col. 1:12).

The promise God made to Abraham was fulfilled and the blessing has come to the nations in Christ through His redemption by the cross.

Hallelujah, on the cross Christ died not only to remove our sins and restore us back to God in peace, but also to redeem us from the curse of the law so that we may enjoy the promised blessing!

The context of Gal. 3:14 indicates that the Spirit is the blessing that God promised to Abraham for all the nations, and that has been received by the believers through faith in Christ.

Hallelujah, we have received the Spirit through faith, and we can enjoy the wonderful all-inclusive life-giving Spirit by remaining in the organic union with the Lord!

The promise of the Spirit doesn’t refer to the promise made by the Spirit but rather, to the Spirit as the promise.

The promised Spirit, the Spirit Himself, is the very promised blessing. It’s marvelous to see that Paul had this kind of revelation to connect the promise God made to Abraham (which physically refers to the seed and the land) to the Spirit. This is too wonderful!

The Spirit that we have received by regeneration is not a simple Spirit but the compound Spirit, who is God Himself processed in His trinity through incarnation, crucifixion, resurrect, ascension, and descension for us to receive as our life and our everything.

Such a Spirit is the Spirit of Jesus Christ with a bountiful supply to meet all our needs and to cause all things and all situation to turn out to our salvation (Phil. 1:19).

Amen, the One we enjoy today as the Spirit with our spirit is the consummation of the processed Triune God, the all-inclusive, life-giving Spirit! Christ has come to redeem us from under the curse of the law; He not only bore our sins and bore the curse, but He also became a curse on our behalf, fulfilling the righteous requirement of the law.

Now the law is satisfied, for Christ became the curse on our behalf; by law, we who were under the curse are now set free!

Hallelujah, we can now enjoy the promised blessing – we can receive the Spirit through faith, and we can enjoy the all-inclusive, life-giving Spirit by remaining in the organic union with the Lord day by day!

How we who were under a Curse can now Enjoy the All-inclusive Spirit as God’s Promised Blessing

And the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 2 Cor. 3:17 In order that the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Gal. 3:14God created Adam in His image and according to His likeness (Gen. 1:26), but through Adam’s fall the entire human race was brought under the curse.

All men born in the flesh are born under a curse, for the law makes it official: we are under a curse if we can’t obey the law of God, and sin dwells in us and operates in us so that we sin constantly. So God promised Abraham that in his seed all the nations will be blessed.

Christ fulfilled God’s promise to Abraham by coming as a Man in the flesh to not only take away our sins but also redeem us out of the curse of the law.

Through His redeeming death on the cross, Christ as the seed of Abraham redeemed us out of the curse of the law so that the blessing of Abraham might come to the nations in Him.

On the cross Christ died a substitutionary death to deliver us from the curse brought in by Adam.

Christ had no sin, nor did He have the sinful nature; He who had no sin was made sin on our behalf so that we may be made God’s righteousness in Him, and He who was perfect was made a curse so that we may be redeemed from the curse of the law.

Then, in His resurrection, Christ became a life-giving Spirit (1 Cor. 15:45); now as the life-giving Spirit He can be received by all those who believe into Him and accept His redemptive work on the cross.

Christ as the seed of Abraham was the last Adam becoming a life-giving Spirit; in His resurrection He is the transfigured descendant of Abraham, the seed of Abraham.

Now He can be dispensed into all those who believe into Him to make them the many sons of Abraham, the corporate seed of Abraham, those who can receive and inherit the consummated Spirit as the blessing of Abraham (Gal. 3:7, 14; 4:28).

Before we believed into Christ, we were in sin and under the curse of the law; when we believed into Christ, we received Him into us and became part of the corporate seed of Abraham enjoying God’s promised blessing, for we received the Spirit through faith.

Hallelujah, Christ as the seed of Abraham brought us into the processed and consummated Triune God as our blessing for our enjoyment!

All genuine believers in Christ, who are regenerated with the divine life of God, are part of the corporate seed of Abraham enjoying the blessing of God!

Our enjoyment today is the Triune God Himself who was processed and consummated to become the all-inclusive, life-giving Spirit as our full supply for our enjoyment.

This all-inclusive Spirit – who the all-inclusive Christ as the seed of Abraham has become – is the aggregate of the all-embracing blessing of the full gospel of God in Christ for the divine dispensing according to the divine economy. Hallelujah!

We who were under the curse can now enjoy God’s promised blessing by receiving Spirit through faith to enjoy all that God is in Christ as the Spirit!

Thank You Lord Jesus for coming as the seed of Abraham to redeem us out of the curse of the law so that the blessing of Abraham may come to us in You! Hallelujah, we have believed into the Lord Jesus and have accepted His redemptive work, and now we can enjoy the promise of the Spirit through faith! Amen, Lord, we open to You, we take You as our portion, and we exercise our spirit to just enjoy You as the all-inclusive, life-giving Spirit in our spirit! Oh, what an all-inclusive portion we have in the mingled spirit today!

Our Christian Life is a Life of Receiving the Spirit through Faith Daily

Galatians reveals the way to receive, experience, and enjoy the all-inclusive Christ as the all-inclusive life-giving Spirit—the aggregate of the all-embracing blessing of the full gospel of God: by God’s revealing of Christ in us (1:16a; Eph. 1:17; Gen. 13:14-18; Eph. 3:8, 19); by our receiving of Christ out of the hearing of faith (Gal. 3:2); by being born according to the Spirit and by being given the Spirit of God’s Son into our hearts (4:29b, 6); by putting on Christ through the baptism that puts us into Christ (3:27); by being identified with Him in His death so that it may be no longer we who live but He who lives in us (2:20); by living and walking by the Spirit (5:16, 25); by having Christ formed in us through travail (4:19); by sowing unto the Spirit with the desire and aim of the Spirit in view, to accomplish what the Spirit desires (6:7-8); by boasting in the cross of Christ and living a new creation (vv. 14-15); and by enjoying the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ with our spirit (vv. 17-18). Witness Lee, The Conclusion of the New Testament, pp. 3294-3295Today our Christian life is a life of receiving the Spirit through faith day by day to enjoy Him as the wonderful, bountiful, and all-inclusive One who is everything that we need.

In Galatians Paul was so burdened toward these dear believers who were so fond of the law and were trying to go back to the law.

In ch. 3 he told them, I wish to learn this from you, Did you receive the Spirit out of the works of law or out of the hearing of faith? Then later he said, He who bountifully supplies you the Spirit and does works of power among you, does He do it out of the works of the law or out of the hearing of faith?

The law condemns us and puts us under a curse; as long as we are under a curse, we have nothing to do with the blessing of Abraham.

But praise the Lord, Christ has come and has become a cure for us, being the One hanging on the tree.

Now we should not go back to the law and be under the curse of the law, for Christ has redeemed us out of the curse of the law so that we may be set free to enjoy the blessing of Abraham! Hallelujah!

May we forget about the law and receive the supply of the Spirit through faith, which Spirit is the reality of the good land promised to Abraham.

The good land is the all-inclusive Christ who today is the consummated, compound, life-giving Spirit with our spirit!

How can we receive, experience, and enjoy the all-inclusive Christ as the all-inclusive life-giving Spirit? How can we enjoy the all-embracing blessing of the full gospel of God?

It is by receiving the Spirit through faith daily and being supplied by the Spirit in our daily living. According to the book of Galatians, the way for us to receive and enjoy and experience this all-inclusive, life-giving Spirit as the blessing of Abraham is:

  • by God’s revealing of Christ in us (1:16a; Eph. 1:17; Gen. 13:14-18; Eph. 3:8, 19);
  • by our receiving of Christ out of the hearing of faith (Gal. 3:2);
  • by being born according to the Spirit and by being given the Spirit of God’s Son into our hearts (4:29b, 6);
  • by putting on Christ through the baptism that puts us into Christ (3:27);
  • by being identified with Him in His death so that it may be no longer we who live but He who lives in us (2:20);
  • by living and walking by the Spirit (5:16, 25);
  • by having Christ formed in us through travail (4:19);
  • by sowing unto the Spirit with the desire and aim of the Spirit in view, to accomplish what the Spirit desires (6:7-8);
  • by boasting in the cross of Christ and living a new creation (vv. 14-15);
  • and by enjoying the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ with our spirit (vv. 17-18).

Wow! In a nutshell, we can receive the Spirit through faith, not through works of the law; we can exercise our spirit to enjoy the bountiful supply of the Spirit through faith, not through anything that we can do for God out of ourselves.

He therefore who bountifully supplies to you the Spirit and does works of power among you, does He do it out of the works of law or out of the hearing of faith? Gal. 3:5The Spirit is everything to us, for if we have the Spirit we have the Father, the Son, the Spirit, and we have God, man, redemption, forgiveness of sins, life, life supply, righteousness, sanctification, transformation, and redemption.

The Spirit is our blessing, and we need to simply exercise our spirit and be under the hearing of faith so that we may receive the Spirit through faith as the all-embracing blessing of the gospel.

As we behold our Redeemer and realize the great redeeming work He has done for us on the cross, we are infused with faith; we are brought into an organic union with Him, and we are filled with thanks and praise for the great work He has done for us.

Hallelujah, we are no longer under the curse of the law; we no longer have to bear our sins anymore, for the wonderful Lamb of God was willing to be forsaken by God in order to accomplish and fulfill the requirement of the law for us to be set free!

Even more, we can enjoy Him as our portion – we can enjoy the Spirit as the reality of the all-inclusive Christ, the reality of both the good land and of the blessing, for us to live a life for God’s purpose!

Lord Jesus, may our Christian life today be a life of constantly receiving the Spirit through faith. We exercise our spirit, Lord, to be under the hearing of the faith and receive more of the Spirit as the unique blessing of the gospel. Thank You Lord Jesus for becoming man to be the Lamb of God bearing our sin and our curse so that, by faith in You, we may enjoy the all-embracing blessing of the gospel! How wonderful it is to exercise our spirit and be bountifully supplied with the all-inclusive, life-giving Spirit as the blessing of God, the blessing of Abraham, the all-embracing blessing of the full gospel of God!
