Remaining in the Organic Union with Christ to Live and Work in Christ and by Christ

I am able to do all things in Him who empowers me. Phil. 4:13

In His economy God has planned that we should do everything God requires of us, and we can do all things not in ourselves but in the organic union with Christ, doing all things in Christ, by Christ, with Christ, through Christ, and by being one with Christ.

The requirements that God has for us are very high; He wants us to match Him, that is, He wants us to be even as He is, for only He can inherit Himself and enjoy all the riches of His being.

God expects us to live the same way that He lives and to fulfill His law to the finest degree.

When the Lord was on earth He said again and again things such as, You shall be holy even as your Heavenly Father is holy; You can enter into the kingdom of the heavens if you do the will of God; you are My brothers and sisters if you do the will of the Father (see Matt. 5:18; 7:21; 12:50).

How can we do the will of God and meet the high requirements that God has for us, His people?

We cannot do this in ourselves and of ourselves; when we see these requirements, we may want to fulfill them and may even try to do it, but any effort of the flesh is actually an abomination to God.

It is impossible for us to do anything for God by ourselves; we need another life – we need the divine life, the life of God.

Praise the Lord, as believers in Christ, we are regenerated with the divine life – we have the life of God, and when we live by this life, we can fulfill the requirements of God.

It is the divine life in us that can live a life that matches God and fulfills God’s requirements.

We need to turn to the Lord, take Him as our life and life supply, and live by the divine life.

By default we still live by our natural life and try to do things for God by our natural efforts, but we need to turn from these and abide in the Lord, realizing we have been organically joined to Him as one spirit, and it is here in this organic union that we should live.

In ourselves and by ourselves it is impossible to fulfill God’s requirements, but what is impossible with man is possible with God.

Hallelujah, with God all things are possible through His marvellous arrangement, we by faith can meet His requirements and fulfill His law, and we can be qualified by Christ to enter into the good land and possess it!

The Christian life, therefore, is impossible to live and at the same time it is the most easiest thing to do; if we are in ourselves and live in the natural man, it is impossible for us to please God and fulfill His requirements, but if we turn to the Lord and take Him as our life and life-supply, He in us can live the life God requires.

May we learn to turn to Him, let Him live in us, and just abide in the Lord, remaining in our organic union with Him for the fulfillment of His purpose in us.

Remaining in the Organic Union with Christ and doing all things by Christ and through Christ

Abide in Me and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine; you are the branches. He who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing. John 15:4-5God has high requirements of His people, and in His economy He has planned that we would do everything that He requires of us.

However, God doesn’t want us to do all these things by ourselves; He wants us to do everything by Christ, in Christ, with Christ, through Christ, and by being one with Christ.

It is in Christ and by Christ that we can do all things for God, so this means that we need to be in an organic union with the Lord.

By believing into Christ we not only received the divine life but we were also brought into an organic union with Him.

It is one thing to believe in Christ – to believe that He is – and it is something deeper to believe into Christ, that is, to be brought into an organic union with Him (John 3:15-18).

Praise the Lord, when we believed into Christ we were grafted into Him to be brought into an organic union with Him, becoming one spirit with Him (1 Cor. 6:17).

Now in the organic union with Christ we are joined to Him, we are one with Him, and we are in Him; as the Lord encouraged us in John 15:5, we simply need to abide in Him.

Because we are in Him and we are one with Him, we can do all things that God require of us in Christ and by Christ.

So we should no longer live by ourselves or do things by ourselves; we should live by Christ, do everything in Christ and through Christ, and remain in the organic union with Him.

Paul spoke of this organic union in Gal. 2:20 when he said that he is crucified with Christ and it wasn’t him who lived but it was Christ who lived in him; however, the life which now he lived it was in faith – in the organic union with Christ who loved him and gave Himself up for him.

Christ died for us and resurrected, He became a life-giving Spirit who is now joined to our spirit as one spirit. Now we need to remain in this joined spirit, this mingled spirit, and live here.

We need to have a spiritual union, an organic union, with Christ. In order that we may enter into such a union with Christ, God wants us not only to believe in Christ but to believe into Christ (John 3:15, 16, 18). To believe into Christ is to have an organic union with Christ, becoming one spirit with Him (1 Cor. 6:17b). In this union we are joined to Christ, we are one with Him, and we are in Him. Now as those who are one with Him and in Him, we need to do all that God requires by Christ and through Christ. No longer should we live by ourselves and do things by ourselves, but we should live by Christ and do everything by Christ. Witness Lee, Life-study of Deuteronomy, p. 41God wants all His believers to realize that they should live, act, behave, work, and have their being in Christ, by Christ, with Christ, and in the organic union with Christ.

We should not live by ourselves but in Christ. Especially these days as we are encouraged to do “social distancing” by staying at home and not having interaction with others because of the spread of the coronavirus, we need to learn to live in the organic union with Christ.

We should stay home in Christ, abide in Him, be “locked down” in Christ, and not get out of Christ.

Christ is our home, our dwelling place, the place where we should be locked in; outside of Him there’s viruses, diseases, death, and destruction, but in Him we have peace, joy, rest, satisfaction, and everything we need.

When we are locked down in Christ by remaining at home in Him, abiding in the organic union with Him, we can fulfill His requirements and match Him because we do all things in the organic union with the Lord.

In the organic union with Christ we are joined to Christ, we are one with Him, and we are in Him; now that we are one with Him and in Him, we do all that God requires by Christ and through Christ.

Lord Jesus, we want to abide and remain in the organic union with You in our mingled spirit. Hallelujah, we are joined to the Lord as one spirit, and He lives in us as we live in Him, and He abides in us as we abide in Him! Lord, we believe into You and are organically joined to You. We praise You for our organic union with You where we are one spirit with You and we can do everything in You, by You, through You, and in oneness with You. Amen, Lord, we have been crucified with You and it is no longer us who live but Christ who live in us, and the life which we now live on earth we live in faith – in the organic union with Christ!

Realizing that God wants us to Live and Work in Christ, by Christ, and in Oneness with Christ

Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but he who does the will of My Father who is in the heavens. Matt. 7:21The Lord Jesus came and did the will of the Father by not doing His own will but God’s will, not speaking His words but what He heard from God, and not seeking His own glory but the glory of the One who sent Him.

Christ lived because of the Father, and we also need to eat Christ and live because of Him (John 6:57). Our daily living, work, and doing should be in the organic union with Christ.

Because He lives, we also live (John 14:19); because Christ lives in us, we also live because of Him.

It is a crucial matter for us to realize that God wants us to live, act, behave, work, and have our being in Christ, by Christ, through Christ, and in oneness with Christ (see Gal. 2:20; John 15:4-5, 7).

Christ has drawn us in His dying love, we are filled with appreciation toward Him, and we have an organic union with Him; in the organic union with Him we can contact Him and live in Him, by Him, through Him, and because of Him.

As we live and work in Christ, by Christ, and in oneness with Christ, we enter into the enjoyment of the good land, the reality of which is the Christ we are joined to and live by.

May we be those who live by faith, that is, those who live in the organic union with the Lord where we can enjoy the good land.

As those who have been regenerated by the Lord, we are now at the border of the good land; when we’re not experiencing the intimate contact with the Lord in our mingled spirit we are filled with ourselves and are not qualified to enjoy the land, but when we contact Him, we enter into the full enjoyment of Christ.

It is in the intimate, sweet, personal, and spiritual contact with the Lord that we are qualified to enter into the good land, we are enjoying Christ, and we simply partake of all that He is as the all-inclusive good land.

God has prepared the good land for us, and the requirement for us to enter in is very simple: abide in Christ, remain in the organic union with the Lord, and live and do everything in Christ and by Christ.

We should not try in ourselves to do anything for God. Rather, we should hate and reject our effort to serve God and match Him, for it is actually abominable in the sight of God. Yes, God wants us to fulfill His economy, but He does not want us to do this by ourselves. God’s desire is that we cast ourselves aside, forget ourselves, and fulfill His economy by the Spirit, that is, by the realization of the Son, who is the embodiment of the Father. We should live, act, behave, work, and have our being by the very Christ who is the life-giving Spirit. Then it will be no longer we who live but Christ who lives within us. Witness Lee, Life-study of Deuteronomy, msg. 5vWhat a shame it is, however, for us to be oblivious of the good land, as if we don’t care for it since we’re drawn to things, persons, situations, and idols, things that cannot compare to Christ because they have no significance!

It is heart-breaking for our God and disappointing to us, upon whom He has set His affection and eyes, that we would not enter into the good land!

May we live the Christian life and church life in this organic union with the Triune God, doing everything in Christ, by Christ, with Christ, through Christ, and in oneness with Christ, so that Christ would be our portion today and for eternity!

May all our living, working, behaving, acting, and even our whole being be in Christ, by Christ, with Christ, and in oneness with Christ, and may we not say anything, do anything, or go anywhere in ourselves and of ourselves but in the organic union with the Lord.

May our Christian life and church life not be in ourselves but in Christ, and may Christ live in us.

Lord Jesus, we reject any effort in ourselves to please You and to work for You. We cannot match You, Lord, in ourselves and of ourselves. We want to abide in You and You in us so that You may live in us as we live in You. May we realize that God wants us to live, act, behave, work, and have our being in Christ, by Christ, with Christ, through Christ, and in oneness with Christ! Amen, Lord Jesus, may our Christian life and church life be lived not in ourselves but in Christ and with Christ, even in the organic union with the Triune God!
