Being the Overcomers Praying with Authority to Exercise and Apply God’s Authority

You then pray in this way: Our Father who is in the heavens, Your name be sanctified; Your kingdom come; Your will be done, as in heaven, [so] also on earth. Matt. 6:9-10

Praying with authority is praying the prayer of Mark 11:20-24; a prayer with authority has much to do with the overcomers who do not pray that God would do this or that but speak to the mountain and apply God’s authority.

We need to learn to pray prayers of authority, prayers that are weighty and valuable before the Lord.

In Mark 11:20-24 the Lord doesn’t say that, if we encounter a mountain and it seems to be impossible to deal with it, we should pray that God would take care of it and He will do it.

Rather, here He says that we need to speak to the mountain and not doubt in our heart, and the mountain will move and be cast into the sea.

And to make sure that we know He’s talking about prayer when He speaks concerning telling the mountain to move, the Lord specifically says that this is to pray.

We need to learn to pray such prayers, the prayers of authority, the prayers in which we don’t speak to God but rather, we command the mountain, and we exercise the authority of God to deal with the mountain.

We all know that prayer is to speak to God, to open to God, and to ask God concerning things; here we speak concerning a different kind of prayer, the prayer in which we command the mountain.

On one hand, we can ask God concerning things, and we can tell Him about all our problems, needs, and wants.

On the other hand, we need to exercise God’s authority when we encounter a mountain and, being fully one with God, we need to command the mountain to move and be cast into the sea. Wow!

This is the most important kind of prayer, the prayer of authority; such prayer is the most spiritual prayer.

It is similar to what the Lord says in Matt. 18:18, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in the heaven.

When we are fully mingled with God and His desire becomes our desire, His intention is our intention, and His mind is our mind, we can bind and loose on earth being fully assured that this is what the heavens are also doing, and it will be done so.

The Lord didn’t even say that we should pray to bind or lose; He said we bind and lose, and the heavens do the same. Wow!

We need to open to the Lord concerning our prayers and our way of praying and ask Him to bring us on with Him, even to cause us to advance in our prayer life to the extent that our prayers match His prayers, and we on earth reflect Him in heaven in His heavenly ministry of intercession.

Praying with Authority by Exercising and Applying God’s Authority to Deal with the Problems and Things that need to be Removed

And Jesus answered and said to them, Truly I say to you, If you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, Be taken up and cast into the sea, it will happen. Matt. 21:21

The prayer of Mark 11:20-24 is the prayer with authority; praying with authority is seen in this portion.

A prayer with authority doesn’t ask God to do something or to remove the mountain that stands in our way.

Rather, it exercises God’s authority and applies this authority to deal with the problems and things that ought to be removed (Zech. 4:7; Matt. 21:21).

If we read Mark 11:23 we may not consider it as something that speaks about our prayer; such command is not regular or ordinary prayer.

Here the Lord doesn’t tell us to ask God and beg Him to please move the mountain and let us go forward; rather, we need to command the mountain by exercising and applying God’s authority to remove it.

And since the Lord was afraid that we may not consider this to be a prayer, He pointed out in the following verse that this is what He considers to be prayer; this is prayer with authority.

Truly I say to you that whoever says to this mountain, Be taken up and cast into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says happens, he will have it. For this [reason] I say to you, All things that you pray and ask, believe that you have received [them,] and you will have them. Mark 11:23-24Praying with authority doesn’t mean that we ask God to do something; rather, it is exercising God’s authority and applying this authority to deal with problems and things that need to be removed.

And this applies not merely to big things such as sicknesses or persecutions or diseases; this applies to our weaknesses such as temper, evil thoughts, or physical illnesses.

It seems that, when we plead with the Lord concerning these problems, there is not much result.

But when we apply God’s authority to the situation and speak to the mountain, these problems will go away.

A mountain is anything that blocks our way, anything that stops us from going on with the Lord, anything that stands in our way and hinders our advancing with the Lord.

Many Christians, when they encounter a mountain in their life and work, they pray to God to remove the mountain; however, this doesn’t seem to work, for God’s intention is for us to be one with Him to tell the mountain to move.

All we have to do is to be joined to the Lord as one and exercise His authority, apply His authority, and command the mountain to be taken up and cast into the sea!

As we go on with the Lord and advance in our Christian life, there are things that come in and hinder us, even stop us, from our going on with Him.

Praying with authority is telling the things that are frustrating us to go away.

We could tell our temper to go away, and we can command the sickness to leave us, for we will rise up by the resurrection life of the Lord in our spirit.

This is not to be daring or presumptuous in our prayer; this is to speak to the mountain in our oneness with the Lord, expressing His desire in our command to exercise His authority and apply it to the thing that hinders us.

If we have no doubt in our heart and are clear about God’s will, for we are mingled with the Lord and are fully one with Him, we can boldly speak to the mountain to be taken up and cast into the sea, and it will be done!

God has commissioned us, He has given us His authority, and we can simply issue the command.

We have many weaknesses, such as temper, evil thoughts, or physical illnesses. If we plead with God concerning these problems, it seems that there is not much result. However, if we apply God’s authority to the situation and speak to the mountain, these problems will go away… A mountain is something that blocks the way and stops us from going on… When many people encounter a mountain in their life or in their work, they pray to God to remove the mountain. But God tells us to speak to the mountain ourselves. All we have to do is issue a word of command to the mountain: “Be taken up and cast into the sea.”… A prayer with authority is one in which we tell the things that are frustrating us to go away. We can say to our temper, “Go away.” We can say to sickness, “Go away. I will rise up by the resurrection life of the Lord.” This word is not spoken to God but directly to the mountain. “Be taken up and cast into the sea.” This is a prayer with authority. CWWN, vol. 22, “The Prayer Ministry of the Church,” pp. 196-198A prayer with authority doesn’t ask God to do something; praying with authority is exercising and applying God’s authority to the mountain to remove it so that we can advance with the Lord and go on with Him.

There are many things that really should be removed in our lives, whether in our Christian life or in our church life, but we are befuddled, we are not sober-minded, and we’re not sensitive to the fact that these are the enemy trying to frustrate and hinder our going on with the Lord and the fulfilment of God’s economy.

When we realize that we have God’s authority and His will is for us to exercise and apply it, we can simply command the mountain, praying with authority, and we apply God’s authority to deal with anything that needs to be removed.

These days we realize that we live in days of spiritual warfare; sometimes right before the prayer meeting or the Lord’s Table meeting something quite unexplainable happens to stir up our temper and disturb our enjoyment of Christ.

Sometimes we may get a headache just as we are ready to go to the meeting and function for the building up of the church.

We need to reject the enemy’s attacks, stand against Him, and exercise God’s authority to pray with authority and remove the hindrances that stand in the way of our going on with the Lord.

If we resist the devil, he will flee from us. If we command the mountain to move, being one with the Lord and applying His authority, the problem will move and be cast into the sea.

Lord Jesus, we stand one with You on earth and we want to advance in our going on with You and in the church life. We stand against any attack of the enemy and we do not agree with his frustrations. Amen, Lord, we exercise our spirit and apply Your authority to the mountain in front of us, commanding it to leave us and not hinder us from fulfilling Your economy. We want to learn to pray such a prayer, praying with authority and standing one with You on earth to apply Your authority to the enemy’s frustrations. We are here for You, Lord, and we are here for the fulfilment of Your economy to build up the church as the Body of Christ consummating in the New Jerusalem!

Being the Overcomers who Pray with Authority and Speak to the Mountain to Apply God’s Authority and Bring in God’s Kingdom

And He said to them, Because of your little faith; for truly I say to you, If you have faith like a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Move from here to there, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you. Matt. 17:20Prayer with authority has much to do with the overcomers; every overcomer must learn to pray in this way by speaking to the mountain (Matt. 11:23).

The Lord wants all the believers in Christ as the church to apply God’s authority, but the church as a whole has failed God.

Therefore, God wants to gain some overcomers who see what is in God’s heart, realize that the enemy is attacking and hindering God’s purpose, and command the mountain to move.

God has commissioned us to command what He has commanded and give others to what He has given orders to.

However, the church is degraded, and most Christians at most pray to ask God to do this or that for them, for their benefit, and for their ministry.

But who cares for the fulfilment of God’s desire to work Himself into man for the building up of the church as the Body of Christ?

Who stands one with God on earth to not only ask God to do something but to pray with authority and speak to the mountain, to anything that frustrates the fulfilment of God’s economy?

We as the overcoming church need to issue the command that God has issued and give the orders that God has given; we need to be one with Him.

He is the Leader, the Captain, and the General, and we Amen His orders and commands; we stand one with Him on earth to release what He has released in heaven and to bind what heaven has bound.

He is the One who speaks the order in us, and we are as the channels, His extension on earth.

We are the Body of Christ who speaks the command that He speaks and give the order that He gives.

Therefore, we need to have an ear that is attuned to Him, listening to Him, and our heart needs to be a duplication of His heart.

Prayer with authority has much to do with overcomers; we need to be the overcomers who pray with authority by issuing God’s command on earth.

God wants to do many things, and the throne of God in heaven has many judgments and works that need to be accomplished.

How can these be carried out? Prayer is the only way. We need to pray in oneness with the Lord and echo on earth what the Lord is praying in heaven. The most important work of the overcomers is to bring the authority of the throne to earth.

The throne of God is in heaven and also in our spirit; when we exercise to be one with the Lord, we release and apply His authority on earth for Him to do on earth what He has decided to do in heaven.

We need to realize that Christ’s ascension has made Him far above all things, and all things and persons are under His feet.

And the seventh angel trumpeted; and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, The kingdom of the world has become the [kingdom] of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign forever and ever. Rev. 11:15 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, Now has come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ, for the accuser of our brothers has been cast down, who accuses them before our God day and night. Rev. 12:10And we are joined to Him, seated with Him in the heavenlies, in ascension one with Him.

For this reason, we need to rule over all things with the Lord’s authority and learn to pray with authority today.

As overcomers of the Lord, our most important work is to bring the authority of the throne to the earth; therefore, we must learn to pray with authority and speak to the mountain (Rev. 11:15; 12:10).

We all must be the Lord’s overcomers today.

In these last days, the Lord needs the overcomers in His Body to stand in the breach and replace the failed, desolate, and degraded church.

On behalf of the church, the overcomers stand one with the Lord to reign with God’s authority and apply His authority on earth.

May we be such ones; may we be the overcomers who learn to pray the prayer of authority and learn to speak to the mountain.

May such prayer of faith, prayer with God as our faith, be prevailing all over the local churches in the Lord’s recovery today.

May we all realize God’s commission, His burden, and the need to carry out His economy, and may we pray the prayers needed to end this age and bring in the age of the kingdom.

Lord Jesus, make us Your overcomers today who stand in the breach and pray with authority to deal with the enemy’s frustrations and bring in the kingdom of God. Amen, Lord, we stand one with You and we exercise Your authority to deal with anything that frustrates the fulfilment of Your economy in our life and in the life of the saints in the church. Amen, Lord, we aspire to be those who fulfil the commission given to the church to deal with God’s enemy and bring in the kingdom of God on earth. May we realize that the most important work of the overcomers is to bring the authority of the throne to the earth. We give ourselves to You, Lord, to learn to pray with authority and speak to the mountain so that we may be Your overcomers today!

Praying with authority… is praying the prayer of Mark 11… Verse 24 is joined to verse 23. Verse 24 mentions prayer. This proves that verse 23 must also concern prayer. The strange thing is that verse 23 does not sound like an ordinary prayer. The Lord did not tell us to pray, “God, please move the mountain and cast it into the sea.”… The Lord… did not tell us to speak to God; He told us to turn to the mountain and to speak to the mountain… directly…, telling it to be cast into the sea. Since the Lord was afraid that we would not consider this to be a prayer, He pointed out in the following verse that it is a prayer… This is a prayer with authority. A prayer with authority does not ask God to do something. Rather, it exercises God’s authority and applies this authority to deal with problems and things that ought to be removed. Every overcomer has to learn to pray this kind of prayer. Every overcomer has to learn to speak to the mountain. We need to learn to pray prayers of authority, that is, know God’s will and speak to the mountain that hinders his will and our growth in life to be cast into the sea.

Amen, Lord, make us one with You to such an extent that we pray prayers of authority to apply the will of God to the earth. Amen, Lord, make us Your overcomers!

We need to learn to pray overcoming prayers.

We must believe that God has granted us the authority to issue commands, for Mark 11:23 tells us so.

Our God is waiting for us to speak directly to the “mountains” and cast them into the sea.

May the Lord gain many overcomers who will rise up by the resurrected & ascended life and apply God’s authority directly

To be an overcomer is to be one who can pray the prayer of authority, prayers that command and order God to act for His will, His move in His economy by faith.

This requires we speak directly to the “mountain” – our temper, evil thoughts, sickness – that they would “Go away”.

This is not asking God to do it but to pray with God as our faith without doubting in our hearts.

When we pray such prayers we believe that we have received already what we have prayed for!

O Lord I believe, help my unbelief!
