The God we Serve is Hiding Himself, and He Operates in us Silently yet Mightily

But take care not to do your righteousness before men in order to be gazed at by them... Matt. 6:1. Article on, The God we Serve is Hiding Himself, and He Operates in us Silently yet Mightily

We need to realize that the omnipotent God whom we are serving is still hiding Himself, especially when He is helping us or doing things in us, for the God who hides Himself is operating within us silently yet mightily.

Amen, what a God we have! He is real, so real, yet He is hidden, so hidden.

On one hand, we can see the display of His work around us, and His majesty and glory can be clearly seen in the wondrous nature, the heavens, the earth, and the whole universe.

On the other hand, we cannot physically see God, nor can we touch Him with our hands or hear Him with our ears. God is hidden.

His nature is a hidden nature, and He does not like to manifest Himself just to impress others.

He simply is. We are here today but are gone tomorrow, but God is.

He wants to gain us for His purpose, and He draws us to Himself with the chords of a man, with bands of love.

Still, as we respond to this wonderful yet hidden God, He still remains hidden.

The word of God clearly reveals what He is, who He is, and what He does and is doing, but all His work is of a hidden nature.

God created the whole universe, and then He hid Himself within it until we don’t know where to find Him.

Many seekers of God throughout the centuries groped and sought and struggled to look for God and find Him, and He was found by those who diligently sought Him.

But He is not in the outward, majestic, supernatural things that He does; He wants to be and is in the centre of our being, in the gentle and quiet voice that speaks to us within.

He does countless things for us both in our personal life and in the family life and in the church life, but He conceals Himself.

He is ceaselessly working, always doing things, and constantly advancing, yet He is hidden.

The hidden nature of His being has been a trial and even a problem to many, but to those who seek Him, wait on Him, and are truly open to Him, He reveals Himself.

We believers in Christ, the genuine Christians, can gladly testify not only that God is real and living but also that He is in us, working in us, operating in us, and being so intimate, personal, and sweet in us and to us.

We have not seen Him with our eyes nor have we touched Him with our hands, but we love Him, we worship Him, we are joined to Him, and we are one with Him in spirit.

We don’t see Him outwardly doing this or that, but we believe into Him, and we know Him in spirit, for we know that He is hidden, concealed, yet He works in us and around us to fulfil His wonderful purpose.

He operates in us secretly, silently yet mightily. Hallelujah!

The Omnipotent God we Serve is Hiding Himself, Especially when He is Helping us and Working in us

But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and remind you of all the things which I have said to you. John 14:26 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to [His] purpose. Rom. 8:28The Bible clearly says that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose (Rom. 8:28).

However, the God who works out all things that they would turn out to good to us is a God who is hiding Himself.

The omnipotent God whom we are serving is still hiding Himself, especially when He is helping us and working within us (John 14:26).

We may have a certain sickness and may be rushed to the emergency room, with surgery being scheduled promptly, and man would do everything possible to take care of this emergency.

But the One who is really in control is God, for He is with us, He helps us, and without Him, we cannot go through all these things.

Yet this One is a hidden God, for He is hiding Himself; we may see Him yet could not find, for He is hiding.

He is active in our environment to arrange all things, and He is very active even in our being to operate in us both the willing and the working for His good pleasure.

Yet He is hidden, concealed, and we cannot see Him or touch Him with our eyes.

Sometimes we may look back at our situation and history and we realize that it was God who did this, and it was Him who took care of that.

We may consider our life when we were young, the university we went to, the people we met, the saints we met and when we met them, and the fact that today we’re in the church life, and though we realize it had nothing to do with us, we clearly see that God was working in all these things.

Our finding a spouse, the timing, and the whole process, it was all under God’s sovereignty, and He brought us together for His purpose.

So there are many retroactive Thank You Lord for all that He has done in us and among us. And He does this again and again.

We are so focused on our present problems, our current situation, and the things at hand, but God is working tirelessly and ceaselessly, yet in a hidden way.

We cannot see Him and, apparently, He is not doing anything.

If we look at the situation in the world today, it seems that God is not present, that He is not in control, for He tolerates so much of the evil that is happening today.

We may bring the current immorality, evil, and rebellion before God, and we may ask Him to do something about it, yet it seems that He does not hear us, for He is hidden.

For it is God who operates in you both the willing and the working for [His] good pleasure. Phil. 2:13 That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit into the inner man, That Christ may make His home in your hearts through faith... Eph. 3:16-17In all this, however, He is doing a lot. He hides Himself, yet He helps us.

He shepherds us, cares for us in a hidden way, and takes care of our inner situation and condition.

We consecrate ourselves to Him, and He does a tremendous inner work in us as we love Him and open to Him.

Though we may think that He doesn’t do much for us or in us, He in a hidden way is doing many things for us and in us, as He is strengthening us with power through His Spirit into the inner man so that Christ may make His home in our hearts through faith (Rom. 8:28, 34; Esth. 4:14; Phil. 2:13; Eph. 3:16-17).

We should not trust our feelings or our thoughts; we simply need to exercise our spirit and contact the Lord, believing that He is, and He will do everything in us and for us.

He is training us, as He makes His home in our heart, to trust in Him, know Him, and be one with Him.

May we open to Him and let Him do what He needs to do in us, and may we simply trust in Him and say Amen to His inner work!

Lord, cause us to realize that the omnipotent God whom we are serving is still hiding Himself, especially when He is helping us. Thank You for being with us where we are and for doing what You are doing in our being. We can only say many retroactive Amen’s and Thank you Lord for all that You have done in us. Though we cannot see You and apparently You’re not doing anything, we believe that You work in the depths of our being and in our environment. We thank You for working in a hidden way to do many things for us so that Christ may make His home in our heart. Strengthen us, Lord, with power through Your Spirit into our inner man so that Christ may make His home in our heart through faith. We say Amen to Your inner work. We open to You, we trust You, and we say Amen to what You are doing in us.

The God who Hides Himself is Operating within us Silently yet Mightily

But you, when you pray, enter into your private room, and shut your door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will repay you. Matt. 6:6

God is not just hidden and concealed as He works in us, but He is also quiet, even silent.

We may not usually associate quietness and silence with vigorous actions, but in God’s case, this is what He does and is.

He operates in us quietly and silently, yet His operation is mighty and vigorous.

The God who hides Himself is operating within us silently yet mightily.

We may go through this and that situation, we may experience this and that thing, and the result is simply that our inner being is touched, our will is subdued, and our mind is renewed.

But you, when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, So that your alms may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will repay you. Matt. 6:3-4He is quiet and hidden, yet He is mightily touching something in the core of our being.

We just open to Him and remain open as a vessel to His working and His filling, and He does what He needs to do in us.

We may think we know what’s going on and what we need, but it is only the Lord who knows what our situation is and what we really need.

He goes into the depths of our being and deals with anything that replaces Christ so that the all-inclusive Christ would fill our being and constitute us.

And we are oblivious to this, which is good, for otherwise we may be proud of this.

God operates in us, works Himself into us, and does things in us, and the Body of Christ reaps the benefit, for our very being becomes a building member doing a building work in the Body of Christ.

We know from our experience that God is present with us all the time and everywhere.

He works within us, He speaks to us, and He reveals things to us. He comforts us, encourages us, supports us, and leads us.

Also, He rebukes us, forbids us, and stops us from doing things.

However, we don’t see Him with our eyes nor can we touch Him with our hands; He simply works in us silently yet mightily.

He hides Himself in what He does to the extent that we may doubt whether He works in us and what He does in us.

We enjoy the benefit and results of His work, but He is so hidden that we may not see it, realize it, or appreciate it.

Actually, the more real God’s work in us is, the more hidden it is; the more definite His work in our being is, the less obvious or manifested it is.

This is an important principle which is not realized by many believers.

Because many don’t see this, when they experience trials and problems, they are tested, and may even doubt God.

But God is satisfied when He is unseen and when He does things in secret.

The Lord Jesus clearly told us that, when we do our righteousness, we should not do it before men to be gazed at them, and when we give alms, we should give in secret, for our Father who sees in secret will repay us (Matt. 6:1, 3-4).

When we pray, we should simply enter into our private room, shut the door, and pray to our Father who is in secret, and our Father who sees in secret will repay us (v. 6).

He is in the depths of our being, He operates in secret, and He wants us to seek Him and enjoy Him in secret.

It is God who operates in us both the willing and the working (Phil. 2:13).

Our responsibility is to cooperate with Him by responding to the inner sense deep within us (Rom. 8:6).

Whenever we sense God living and acting within us, we should say Amen, for there – in the depths of our being, secretly and ceaselessly the God who hides Himself is working.

There is a certain sense of life in our spirit, and we need to simply say Amen to His doing and go along with the sense of life within.

We need to see the inner sense, though it is so quiet and even indistinguishable from our own feeling, and go along with the Lord’s speaking within us.

We may be in the shower or doing our morning hygiene, and there may be an inner sense concerning things.

Our personalities are diametrically opposed to God's personality. He likes concealment; we like display. He does not crave outward manifestations; Scriptures carefully, you will see that God has the kind of temperature that dislikes ostentation. He likes to work secretly rather than openly. Do not expect anything outward, for the God who hides Himself is at work within your life, and He is working mightily. Your responsibility is to cooperate with Him by responding to His voice within—that “gentle, quiet voice,” that voice that seems so much a part of your own feelings that you scarcely recognize it as a voice at all. To that voice, registered in the deepest depths of your being, you must say Amen, for there, secretly and ceaselessly, the God who hides Himself is working. Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1956, vol. 2, “A God Who Hides Himself,” p. 11The Lord is working non-stop in us, and He works in a hidden way, in His own time, yet He works secretly and ceaselessly.

Even when we don’t cooperate with Him, we will not stop Him from His work; He knows how to break through in us, and He is gently yet hiddenly gaining our cooperation.

If we study the Scriptures carefully, we will see that God has the kind of temperament that dislikes ostentation; He likes to work secretly rather than openly (Matt. 6:1-8).

He doesn’t like to be showy, to make a big display of what He does.

We, fallen human beings, like to make a display, and we want everything to be in the open, for everyone to see. But the Lord works secretly rather than openly.

Our disposition is diametrically opposed to God’s disposition; He likes to hide Himself, and we like to show ourselves and make a display.

God likes concealment, and we like display. God doesn’t crave outward manifestations, but we can’t be content without them. Oh, Lord!

This divine disposition constitutes a great trial and test for us.

But we trust in Him, we know He takes care of us, and we know that He loves us and does all things secretly for our benefit.

And we cooperate with Him by going along with the inner sense of life, the gentle and quiet voice that is within us whenever we touch the Lord.

As we cooperate with the Lord by saying Amen to His working within us, He operates in us silently yet mightily, and He gains what He is after in us.

Hallelujah, the God who hides Himself is operating in us silently yet mightily! Amen, Lord, we open to Your inner operating in our being. Operate in us both the willing and the working for Your good pleasure. We say Amen to Your work in us. We want to cooperate with Your inner work by responding to the inner sense deep within us. We say Amen to Your working in us, for in the depths of our being, secretly and ceaselessly, the God who hides Himself is working. Save us from trying to see outward manifestations of Your work. We want to come to You in secret, enjoy You in secret, and pray to our Father who is in secret. Amen, Lord, do what You want. Go where You want in us. We need You. We can’t live another day without You. We trust in You. Oh Lord, we open to You!

God’s character is that He likes to keep Himself hidden…He is constantly doing wonderful things, but He never likes to manifest Himself…He rules the universe, but no one can see Him. He has been with the church for the past two thousand years, but no one has been able to see this ever-present God.

We also know from our experience that He is present with us all the time and everywhere. He works within us, speaking to us and giving us revelation. He comforts us, encourages us, supports us, and leads us. He also rebukes us, forbids us, and stops us.

However, we have never seen Him. He is hidden. He hides Himself to such an extent that even when He is working and operating within us and causing us to sense certain things, we have doubts…

His constant hiding of Himself is His temperament by which He does things; this is one of His divine characteristics. The more real His work is, the more hidden it is; the more definite His work is, the less obvious, or manifest, it is.

This is an important principle. Due to this principle we often experience trials, and due to this principle we are often tested. Even Satan uses this principle to tempt us.

Our character is radially opposed to God’s character. God likes to hide; we like to display. God is satisfied when everything is unseen; seen.

We know that God is operating in us, encouraging us, comforting us, and also rebuking and stopping us.

But all this is done in secret, in the depths of our being, without any ostentatious outward display of His majesty.

May we seek Him in secret and say Amen to His inner operation, to His gentle and quiet voice.

Lord Jesus, we open to Your inner operation. We need You. We love You. Save us from doubting You. Do in us what You need to do.

Save us from doing our own righteousness to do the righteousness of God! May our doing be in secret to please the Father!

Keep up and lead us to experience the God who does things in secret!

Dear brother, we cannot see Him, and apparently, He is not doing anything.

Actually, in a hidden way He is doing many things for us, as He is strengthening us with power through His Spirit into the inner man so that Christ may make His home in our hearts.

Wow the God who hides Himself is operating within us silently yet mightily.

Amen Lord thank You for Your hidden work in the depths of our being.

I am glad to receive and read your daily messages. It is very helpful for my spiritual growth in His body.

Yes, our God is not showing, but a working God expressed Himself practically.

Unfortunately, the world is believing by seeing, but we believe by faith in Him.

Because our God is faithful and practical God.

He is hidden for our necked eyes, but seen in His practical expression working in our walk of life so as to fulfill His eternal purpose, economy.

Praise to the Lord for His own move throughout the different dispensational ages.

Our God likes to hide Himself, but He is always working.

He works to sustain the outward environment and He is working mightily within us.

Because we like everything to be seen, we can sometimes lose heart.

However, we must be brave and of good courage, and always remind ourselves that our God is a God who likes to be unseen but who is also ever present.

Faith is largely the belief in an unseen God.

It’s our responsibility to cooperate with the unseen God by responding to His quiet gentle voice.

Yes, we say amen to your gentle quiet voice, Lord Jesus!

Dear brother, our God is a God who hides Himself! Amen!

While He is Almighty, omnipotent and glorious, He is yet hidden.

He dislikes ostentation and we see from the scriptures that we too should be those who do not seek any public display, but be ones who live and act according to the inner sense, out of the depths of our being.

O Lord! O Father God as one who sees in secret continue to strengthen us with power into our inner man so that Christ may make His home in us as the inner operating God for Your glory in the church!

Amen brother. Our God is operating behind the scenes. His divine disposition is different from ours.

He does not like to do things in display; He likes to operate in secret. In secret, He is shepherding us.

We now need to learn to say amen to his secret operating.
